Over-bloated, over-designed crap, that completely misunderstood the spirit of the awesome 2016 game. - Out of ammo constantly, all guns. This is a design choice - Annoying tutorials that break the action. Yes you can disable, but you need to learn the new annoying mechanics - Using chainsaw, glory kill etc. isn't optional anymore. Main way to get ammo/health - Melee does no damage, unless enemies are staggered - Forced to use chainsaw constantly - Super annoying platforming, instead ditching it (already bad in 2016) they put it on steroids - More linear maps than 2016 - Ugly menus and HUD. No matter how much you change colors. Disabling it gimps your gameplay - Worst of all, the hideous red LOW AMMO bar, blocking your view (you'll see lot of that) - The font used everywhere makes Comic Sans look good - Literally, the UI designer must be blind or **** or both - Confusing, nonsensical story nobody cares about.. constant cutscenes break the action - Doom guy isn't as brutal anymore, he calmly listens to the idiotic speeches the NPCs give - No pickup animation for guns, instead collect ugly floating neon icons -> teleport to tutorial - You're forced to use all guns, by being out of ammo constantly --> time for chainsaw - Ugly garish rainbow colored pickups pouring out of enemies - Guns are ugly 90's style floating pickups now, instead of grounded look of 2016 - Graphics not really that impressive, art style is cartoony compared to 2016. Technically maybe better graphics, artistically NOT better - Music is good, but not as good as 2016, Mick Gordon going through motions, nearly all of the riffs **** compared to 2016 The biggest letdown of 2020 so far, probably will remain the biggest.

Best Hitman game ever, and about the only true stealth game there is left. Skipping it because of online only is really dumb, people buy Overwatch and R6 Siege too. Lots of people seem to enjoy Apex Legends and Fortnite, they are online only too. What's the difference? Single player? (And it even isn't, totally) Who cares? Online is online. You're skipping games out of dumb principle. Also, yeah it is hand holdy, if you use all HUD assists. They are totally optional, and each can be turned off individually. Then it pretty much becomes just better, bigger and smarter version of Blood Money.

Chivalry spiritual successor. Basically better in every way. They have some server issues, because they didn't prepare to be Steam #12 most played game with 34K peak players. So the servers are severely overloaded. They are in process of getting more server capacity, but you might want to hold off a few days. Season 2, that everyone who played the previous game really wanted, but without the episodic format. Levels are better than Season 1, with more consistent quality and no annoying levels like Colorado. The fact that they remastered the entire previous game, and give it for free (or for 20$, if you don't own it) nearly doubles the value here. Also, for the first time ever, PvP multiplayer. Game journos whining about "feels like Hitman 1.5" can shove it, it's the Season 2 that everyone asked for + much more than that... of course it shares some elements with Season 1, don't fix what isn't broken.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun10
Dec 7, 2016
Great tactical hardcore stealth RTS game. Remember the old Commandos 2? Shadow Tactics is spiritual successor to it, according to devs. And boy did they pull that off nicely. It's not a remake, but heavily influenced by Commandos. You control 5 different characters in ancient Japan (Ninja, Samurai, Street child, Geisha and Marksman) and sneak through 13 very challenging missions, poisoning, trapping, sneaking about and slicing throats. Hide the corpses in bushes, climb roofs and create complicated distraction schemes. Enemy AI is superb. Which is very important in game like this. I haven't noticed any bugs. Cutscenes between mission aren't jawdropping, as they use just the in-game engine without zooming in. But they do the job. Missions themselves are very long, difficult (without being unfair) and challenging. There's countless solutions to every situation (especially in later levels where all characters are usable), CONTRARY to what some some negative reviews here state. Those players were just too stupid or impatient to find the tactical options and depth of Shadow Tactics. This is NOT an easy game or for the impatient, prepare to get challenged and to die a lot. There is a Demo in Steam, which contains full 1st mission and introduces 3 of the 5 characters (Ninja, Samurai, Marksman). Go check it out! It's rather easy though, because with 5 characters it's a lot less obvious what you should/can do in given situation.

Launch in 2013 was disaster. The game was disaster in 2014 too, some could argue even 2015. But thanks to work by DICE LA, the game now in 2016 is totally different. With lots of free content, toally re-balanced weapons, fixed netcode, huge playerbase (still way bigger than Hardline or Battlefront) and MP servers filled 24/7 it's a great game. Also doesn't cost a lot anymore, totally worth the price.

Hitman - Episode 4: Bangkok9
Aug 19, 2016
The latest episode (Bangkok) is second best so far. Sapienza being the best. The area consists of huge luxury hotel, river docks, terraces and backyard. It resembles in a way the Blood Money mission House of Cards. There is less outdoor areas than in Paris, it's mainly just interiors. Plenty to do and discover here. It's less crowded, there isn't big meaningless masses of people like in Marrakesh. Each NPC is individual with a function. This helps with the frame rate, Thailand runs better than the two episodes before it. Optimization overall still isn't great though. 6 new weapon unlocks, fairly interesting compared to Marrakesh unlocks. Could be better, but they are probably spreading the more interesting gear throughout all episodes.

Worst of the 3 episodes released thus far. It's not as organic as Sapienza. It's like 2 small levels combined (school and embassy), and between them a big marketplace with a huge crowd, but little to do. The location didn't appeal to me much. Dirty, noisy craphole of a city, I would never travel in real life. Unlike Paris and Sapienza, which were great just to explore and look at. Everyone in HITMAN talks perfect English with American accent, which is most distracting in this episode thus far. Immersion totally broken, when African guy in a tunika says to me "Cool threads, bro." Still good game (with bad optimization) but hoping Thailand will reach closer to that Sapienza glory.

Seems to be causing severe technical problems for some (crashes), and others are happy. I'm one of the happy, optimization is very slick work, which can't be said about many AAA titles that are not even ports. This game runs silky smooth, considering how complex Los Santos is. It also allows you to customize many graphic settings to your liking, and shows exactly how much VRAM each will take. First person mode works well, if you're an FPS gamer you'll feel right at home. Contrary to what many people believe, this runs well on HDD also, doesn't need SSD. Loading time with HDD is not bad at all. Only thing I miss is steering wheel + Track IR support.

Euro Truck Simulator 28
Jan 22, 2015
I'm not a trucking fan at all. When I first heard about this game, I laughed aloud. Who would want to play that, right? I was wrong. I wouldn't want to be pro truck driver, but in small portions it is surprisingly interesting. Driving a truck is very different from normal cars, you have to consider a lot of unique things. Physics are pretty good, trucks feel like heavy traffic that they are. The game is best with FFB wheel, as it is a simulation. The map is huge, although not even close to IRL scale, it still feels like you are on a trip across Europe. Many details in landscape and cities, many famous landmarks. The game has also some business management and skill point system. The most important part however, is that ETS2 has full mod support and large & talented modding community. With the right set of HD texture mods, decent PC and little tweaking, you can get almost photorealistic graphics, only seen in most recent 2014 driving games. Also high quality map mods available, free of charge. You can add map mods of Mediterranean, West Russia and Scandinavia, that are more detailed and well made than the original game. There is also hundreds of cars, trucks, trailers and buses, done by modders in a quality that surpasses that of original game. If you play this game as vanilla, you are really missing the whole point. Game itself is under 1 Gb, but I have +20 Gb of mods (over 130 separate mods) and with them the game really shines as driving simulator. You can tailor everything the way you want. The most important mods are ProMods, Improved Weather r5, FAEL enviroment HD textures by rafaelbc (or some other HD texture set), Realistic Headlights 1.5.1 and car packs by Jazzycat. Other ones are just extra..

The Marvellous Miss Take9

Nice little single player stealth game, with refreshing cartoonish and colorful visual style, instead of dark colors usually in stealth games. It's really easy to learn, and starts with the basics, advancing step by step. You control with mouse (with optional keyboard control). You try to steal art from a gallery, which has security cameras, devices and guards. You can run, whistle, crouch behind objects et cetera. After completing a heist you can go back to it, and try to make it in shorter time. There's also additional painting to be robbed + gadgets like the noise maker. I liked also the music, funky bluesy thing with cool horn sections, they clearly paid attention to it. I'm a music student and care about this more than most people I guess. But most games don't have music worth mentioning, but in this one it's not just some background noise I want to turn off after 1 minute.

Depth10
Nov 5, 2014
This game has quite a big following already on Steam. Over 100 user reviews, general rating is "Very positive". I absolutely love it too! I think it could become one of the biggest indie hits of the year. Depth is in essence an asymmetrical multiplayer-only game about treasure hunting divers and sharks trying to kill them. It's polished for indie, and very well balanced. Playing the shark is absolute blast, but playing a diver is fun too, scary kind of fun. There are two Great White sharks (played from 3rd person) pitted against four human divers (1st person). Sharks have superior speed, vision and strength and razor sharp teeth, but divers have waterproof guns and other gadgets. The game takes place 100% underwater, in 5 different maps (free DLC maps coming later). Divers are trying to escort a safe-cracking ROV robot through waypoints, collect treasure, sticking together and trying to fight back sharks lurking in the darkness. A heartbeat sound indicates how close a shark is, but not it's direction, which creates paranoia and fear in diver players. Sharks can destroy some roofs and walls, to create new attack routes. Divers are slower than sharks, but have assault rifles, pistols, nets, harpoon, mines, flares and such. Even a small vessels, which can be used to drive around. Sharks have "Evolutions", which mean unlocking faster speed, better vision etc, but both sides start every round with nothing (Counter-Strike style) and must earn their unlocks. Divers use treasure they collected from safes (+ some extra laying around), sharks get an Evolution Point for each kill. Humans need to stick together, and getting separated from group usually means that you're going to be shark food, especially against competent shark players. Sharks work together too, for example other one creating distraction by thrashing a wall to draw attention. All of the maps are mostly very dark since it's deep sea, and flashlight + flares light the way. The game is very polished in both visual and gameplay sense, only thing I could nitpick about is the system to join and search for games. It has had occasional joining problems at launch, I'm sure they will fix that ASAP. I highly recommend this title. It has fairly unique idea, visceral and tense action, scary atmosphere (for diver team) and lot of teamwork... kind of Left 4 Dead vibes here, but different. High polish, good balance and it seems to have strong community and support from devs. Ready up your wetsuit and jump in!

Top notch recreation of the Amiga classic, they really hit all the right notes. HD graphics, orchestrated music and good voice acting added, but the game is essentially the same - arcade WW1 flying game, with engaging story. They didn't change it in wrong parts, like the people who did Speedball HD did. If you loved the original, you'll have blast. But don't expect it to be a simulation or anything really complicated, it's some of the best of early 90's gaming brought back to life, better than ever.

Best Alien game ever made, and one of the best horror games out there. But if you are a shooter kiddie, stay away, since it's not a shooter. IGN and Gamespot didn't get paid this time? Everyone else seems to be loving it. Also, I laugh at idiot reviewers who see long duration as a bad thing. How is that a bad thing? Most modern games are way too short. It's not perfect but damn close. Yes there's some repetition, but they could have easily avoided that by making it same length as other games. So, in fact there is no repetition, in comparison with normal (shorter) games.

Strictly co-op. Friendly AI is useless, they can shoot but that is not much of help when there is 8 money bags to be carried and SWAT is all over you. If you are looking for SP experience, forget it. As a co-op game it shines. Learning curve is pretty high, since there is no tutorial and the game is pretty complicated. You will have to learn the hard way, or with a helpful and experienced teammate who bothers to tell you how you play. But usually players who can't play get kicked. Also been noticing that some people use certain missions to grind for levels, since some heists are easier than others and provide more rapid leveling up. That's too bad, since there is almost 30 missions. It's not a full game in a sense. It's just a moderately sized co-op game with a lot of replay value. Gun play is better than in Payday 1, graphics better, missions more complicated and this time actually you can go all-stealth. I recommend this one, but only online.

Loved the original Most Wanted (not because of the plot, but because of gameplay), came in with high hopes, but left unsatisfied. I would agree on the comments about bad optimization and low frame rates. I have a high end PC, and games like Battlefield 3 work without any problems on max settings. NFS: Most Wanted however, doesn't. There is constant frame rate issues. Also I can't drive with manual gears, only automatic. The cool slow motion replays during jumps and roadblocks, which I loved in the original Most Wanted, are gone. No police helicopter anymore even on highest heat level, don't know why they left that out. As everyone knows by now, all of the cars are unlocked right away. This doesn't bother me, but the "Easydrive" system in which you can upgrade your car while driving isn't that functional. You can't really steer and navigate the menus in the same time, so you're gonna have to stop the car anyway. All in all, I'm pretty disappointed.

Well. The kill cam is great. The kill cam is really great. And you see a lot of it. But the game has many downsides. The AI is running back and forth when it's supposed to shoot you and take cover. And often times it's shooting repeatedly to a wall or some other obstacle. Also it's a bit annoying to sneak around, because the sneaking movement is veeeryyy slooooowwww. And if you decide NOT to sneak, tons of enemies hear in no time you and you're dead, because of the clumsy CQB controls. You can't really tell when it's safe to walk normally, so you'll have to sneak pretty much all the time. The game doesn't save checkpoints, so if you want to take a break and play the mission tomorrow or some other day, you'll have to start from the beginning of that mission. But the sniping mechanic is cool and the kill cam just never gets old. The game has it's moments, mostly moments in which you have a vantage point or other safe spot to snipe, and shoot amazing headshots from a distance. The sneaking and CQB are weak.

Deadliest Warrior: Legends3
Jul 8, 2011
Unfortunately, it's a step forward in the graphical sense, and a step backwards in the gameplay sense. Why? Because of the Grapple Mode. It's very easy to enter Grappling, and also very easy to get instant kills with the signature move. It's gory and good looking, but also ends the fight unfairly and looks always the same. Single player is pretty much watered down by this fact. I could get easy wins even in the Deadliest difficulity, by just going for the grapple all the time, and hitting Y (Attempt at match ending signature kill). Computer AI is not smart enough to avoid the kill, most of the times. In multilplayer (online or local) the game is better, because human opponent knows that the risk of the grappler going for an instant kill is very high. So, single player kinda ****, really. Graphics are a lot better, the environments look good also, with only couple of exceptions.
