Funny, irritating, intriguing, the need to explore the places you can see but the inability to actually do it makes this game pretty unique, and it's very rewarding when you manage to pull it off.
The challenge levels completely ruin what was almost a perfect platformer, it's a shame cause they **** the fun out of going for the platinum. 9/10 for the base game, 3/10 for the challenge levels, 6/10 overall.
This is Bethesda in all their wonderful and irritating glory. It has incredible amounts of exploration and lore to uncover, the world completely draws you in, but it's plagued by terrible writing, boring characters and god awful character animation. Bethesda..... Bethesda never changes. 5/10
I'm unhappy with Bethesda's recent business decisions but you have to give them credit for bringing this classic back to modern consoles, I got both Quake and Quake 2 for a little over £10 on PSN.
How do you know **** is good? When it's review bombed by legions of salty Xbox kids..... If you've already played the base game of Horizon Forbidden West then you'll already know just how good the game is graphically at least, it's not perfect in other areas but it's easily one of the most visually stunning games ever made. This DLC may be pretty much more of the same but given how good the game is that's not a bad thing. Graphically it's managed to even improve over the base game thanks to it being PS5 only, and the result is easily the most impressive looking game to date on any system. It's not particularly long but the map is quite large for a DLC with some of the most stunning locations you'll ever likely to see in a game. A lot of the issues from the first game persist however such as awkward controls while climbing, foliage obscuring vision when exploring our fighting etc, we also get to learn a bit more about a Aloy on a personal level which is bound to split the fanbase. There's a lot of 'strong female leads' in this DLC which seems to be a reoccurring theme with PlayStation at the moment, like many I find this constant 'girl power' theme to be a little bit tedious and I hope PlayStation can level things out future games going forward. On a sudden notes we get to see and to say goodbye to the hugely talented and sadly missed Lance ****. I'd say that this is a must play if you are already a fan of the series but it's far from perfect. At the very least it's a glimpse into what the PS5 is capable of, and in that regard the future is very bright indeed. 7/10
Overrated then, overrated now. It's not a bad game by any means but it's far from perfect and I find the endless praise this game gets baffling. Gameplay wise it's very average with combat and character control akin to something we'd expect from the PS2 era. MGSV dropped in the same year as Witcher 3 and the difference between the two gameplay wise is night and day, played side by side and it emphasizes just how poor Witcher 3 was in that department. Compare the two games story wise though and it's Witcher 3 that shines. Bloodborne also dropped this same year which betters Witcher 3 in many departments and was my personal Goty.
Awful, and to call this a 'game' is stretching the truth. And to call this a 'game' is stretching the truth, it's an interactive movie (and not a very good one). Avoid.
This was already one of the greatest games ever made and now it can be enjoyed by a whole new generation of PS5 owners, I genuinely envy those who get to play this masterpiece for the first time.
20 hours in and we have an absolute masterpiece on our hands here, a wonderfully rich world deep story and lovable characters make this game an absolute must play for everyone. The graphics are particularly impressive and set a new standard for open world games, the PS5 version in particular raises the bar to levels that others can only hope to follow. Seeing the game review bombed by jealous players of rival systems is quite saddening, the sheer amount of effort and love put into this game by the developers deserves so much more. I have no doubt in my mind this game will receive many goty awards come the end of the year, I highly recommend this game.
Two of the best games from the last generation that hold up to current gen games and actually surpass many. Remarkable work from Naughty Dog and worth every single penny.
This is an unnecessarily complicated game, it's one thing to expect a game to hold your hand (no one likes that) but this game doesn't even attempt to guide you in any way, it throws a ton of information at you early on and then just expects you to put it all together. I've been playing games for 30 years and this ranks up with the most irritating, any fun in the game is overshadowed by confusion and it's easy to waste an hour of your time just trying to figure out what you're supposed to be doing. If I hadn't been given this a a present I wouldn't even bother finishing it but unfortunately I feel obliged to. I'm only giving it 4 stars because it's visually striking, but as an actual game experience it's best avoided.
Once you get past the beginning levels which are a bit lackluster it opens up into a really enjoyable Oddworld adventure. Great to see this game return to form after a couple of disappointing entries.
Hard pass judging by the mediocre demo, but maybe I'll be proven wrong on it's full release. (I highly doubt it though). It would be hard to pick something like this over the upcoming Returnal which looks great.
Looks better on PS5, runs better on PS5, they have the added Dualsense features.... when oh when are Microsoft going to learn that having the most powerful box isn't the be all and end all. Wish I'd got the PS5 version now.
Oh dear this game is a buggy buggy mess, we're talking Bethesda levels of bugs here. Frame rates in the low 14's which I think is the lowest I've experienced in the entire generation of PS4. Avoid at all costs.
Another example of how talented Sony's first party studios are, this game has no right to run on their base system but it does flawlessly. Add to that a very well written story and completely unique set of enemies and what you have is an overall excellent experience that is highly recommended.
Great game, by no means a classic but fun to play with some interesting enemies, good visuals for it's day and it all plays along to some fairly decent DnB in the background. Hope it comes to PS NOW.
Terrible game, I just wanted to show my gf's daughter the classic PacMan but was forced to play through a training section with new and pointless mechanics , she got bored and asked me to turn it off before we even got to the end. The game didn't even have the option to play the classic version and skip all the crap additional stuff, surely dissatisfied with this upgrade.
