I am genuinely ANGRY at the score **** only 3D platformers I've enjoyed more than this one are Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Super Mario 3d World, Sonic & Shadow Generations, and Sonic Lost Worlds (maybe).Bubsy 4D is just overflowing with personality, doesn't take itself too seriously, overflows with opportunities for exploration (there are at least 3 ways to do anything you can imagine), and it's so chock full of replay-ability that no matter what your player-style is for these sorts of games, there's a stack of challenges here for you. On top of that, the art-style is original, and move-set is AWESOME. In fact, the ONLY reason I don't score it a 10 is the camera, which can sometimes be a bit wonky. I mean, it's a shorter game if you just want to blast through it without doing all of the little challenges and side quests, but for the price that's to be expected!If you're considering buying this, don't look at the critic reviews, but listen to those of us who are actually out there enjoying the game. My 20 year old song walked in, watched me play for a minute, drilled me with questions, then swiped my controller, oohing and ahhhing about the move-set and game play. That the sort of game this is.9/10 - I want a DLC and a sequel. Great game!

This and Beyond Atlantis II (also knowns as Atlantis III: the New World) are some of my favorite graphics adventure games of all time, and sit just below Myst and Riven, alongside Schizm: Mysterious Journey, and Mysterious Journey II. For the time, very good graphics and a bizarre but engaging story, with generally good puzzles. If you're a fan of old-school graphics adventures, this was one of the better games in the genre.

This game was good, but not quite what it could have been. It originally began as Schizm/Mysterious Journey III, however design choices ended up clearly making a very different game that they first two, which is a shame because those games were both great, if incredibly hard. This is pretty to look at, but neither the story nor the puzzles are as engaging.

At the time this was released, the first 3 games in the "Atlantis" series were very satisfying. If you enjoyed Myst and Riven, you can't really miss with 1. Atlantis: the Lost Tales, 2. Beyond Atlantis II, & 3. Atlantis 3: the New World... after that the series goes of the rails, and the last two games are pretty much pretty to look at, but awful games.

Sadly, after 3 pretty solid to very good adventure games in the Atlantis series, this is where they went off the rails. Pretty disappointing after the first few games. The graphics were nice, but the game was unimpressive otherwise.

Not quite as beautiful as the first game in the series, but a bit more "open world" in it's design, so that's a trade off. This game is for adventure gamers who consider Myst and Riven too easy. As I said in the other review, I'm pretty sure the game designers hated humanity - it's unreasonably hard and you'll need to be either a genius to complete it, or use a LOT of cheats.

Yes, I rated it a 9, but that doesn't mean you should play it. Do you have a mathematics degree? I ask because this may be the most unreasonably hard adventure game I've ever played, and many of the puzzles with take Calc/Trig-level problem solving. I worked hard to finish the game, motivated by the engaging story and the astounding art/design (for the time, at least). That said, it's BRUTAL. The only person I know who played it and managed to zip through the game taught mathematics at a college level, so... yeah. Incredible game. SOOOO HARD! And, if you're a glutton for punishment they made a sequel where you have to play two different characters simultaneously existing in parallel dimension, solving the puzzles multi-dimensionally. I'm pretty sure the game designer HATED people. Ha!

The idea of this game is much more interesting than it's implimentation, however I didn't HATE IT, and managed to eventually finish the game. If you like the original MYST, and you think the premise of this sound interesting, you could definitely do worse, but it won't change your life, either.

So, graphically this game was quirky - the camera was your worst enemy at times - but the story was good, and the game was challenging and generally fun! I liked it enough that I shared it with my brother-in-law, and he also liked it.

Sure, some of the story is absolutely absurd, but if you're willing to go along for the ride, this is can be a deeply satisfying graphic puzzle-adventure, and reminded me a lot of RIVEN, the sequel to MYST. The graphics is beautiful for the time that it released, and the puzzles were mostly reasonable - if someone were to struggle with the game it would mostly be the obtuse, bizarre story. Even so, I like it so much that I played the entire series, the first 3 of which were solid, engaging games.

So, this game is far from perfect, but at the time of it's release was a graphically impressive, deeply immersive, realistic war adventure, and it was as TOUGH AS NAILS! I got a lot of play time out of it, and deeply enjoyed the game, though I imagine that - if I were to replay it today - it wouldn't hold up to modern releases in the same genre.

Compared to other games in this genre, this was an okay, playable graphics adventure with a decent story - nothing special, but not bad, either.

So, as far as graphics and design go, this game was dated even when it released, BUT I played it in a single sitting in a dark room with 2 other friends overnight, switching out who was controlling the main character every 30 minutes, and it was an AWESOME experience. The game is definitely creepy, with a few great puzzles and fun jump-scares. Even with it's imperfections, we really enjoyed it!

Easily a top 5 graphics adventure game, up there alongside RealMyst. Absolutely magical - transported me to another world.

I did NOT have high expectations for this game. I've only played 2 Bubsy games before this... BUBSY IN: Claws Encounters... for the SNES & BUBSY IN: Fractured... for the Jaguar - I didn't thoroughly hate either, but I didn't like them, either. What I remember most is that they were mercilessly hard, to the point of just not being worth the time. I watched the early trailers and it was interesting... but I was not convinced. I played the demo... and was not convinced. Still, for under $20, I'll take a chance. And I am SO VERY GLAD THAT I DID! From the moment I got past the somewhat annoying "training" segment - which was NOT promising - I got into the actual gameplay and began to explore the first level, I began to see promise. It was pretty good, playing the game straight... then I began to experiment with the move-sets, and suddenly the gameplay opened up in ways that I hadn't even IMAGINED were possible, pushing the game from "It's alright..." to "DUDE! I can't get ENOUGH OF BUBSY 4D!" As I was just beginning to get a handle on the wide-open possibilities my 20-year-old college son - in town visiting for his brother's graduation - walked through the room, paused, and started the barrage of questions; "What is this? Who made it? When did you get it?", then the controller was no longer in my hands, and he was laughing, "I CANNOT BELIEVE THE MOVE-SET! I LOVE THIS GAME!" Yeah, then my 8-year-old daughter passed through the room; "I love this! Dad, can you teach me how to play Bubys 4D?!" And there we are... my whole family is hooked! By no means is the game perfect - the camera feels glitchy/off at times, but it doesn't break the gameplay whatsoever. Sometimes the characters are a touch annoying, but meh... you can click through the dialogue very quickly, so no skin off my back. And, from what I've heard from others, the game COULD stand to have another world or two of levels (I'm already pestering Atari & Fabraz about a DLC), but is wanting MORE **** that costs under $20 really a critique? All things considered, this game is a banger - loads of crazy platforming fun! I already can tell that I'm going to want a sequel! Highly recommended, and if you don't like it immediately, keep toying with it - you'll find that there's a LOT to love here!

Though glitchy at first, the latest software update fixed the issues. This game is one of the GOATs - absolutely immersive, and a revolution back when it was first released, and yet again today. My game of the year, so far!

This isn't my favorite game ever, but it is an entertaining, fast paced quick play that I enjoy playing from time to time. The graphics look a bit dates, as is to be expected for this sort of game, but the game mechanics generally work well, and it just FLIIIIIIIIES! My 7th grade LOVES IT, which is why I'd rate it a 7.5 if the option were available. I personally consider it a 6.5, but I know there's fun to be had, since I see him enjoy the game. An update: after further play, I'd raise my score to an easy 8 to and 8.5! The game IS very tough, but the open world gives you a lot to explore, and battle mechanics are really fun, and there's just a lot of game there. Pretty solid - definitely worth the price.

Planet of Lana 2 is a mid-level puzzle adventure game platformer that is made into a GREAT game by it's gorgeous graphics and design. The game is so beautiful that it tends to gather a crowd every time I play - family members gather around just to see the beauty unfold. There's something to be said for that - it's a unique game, just because of this approach. I plan on 100%-ing it because I want to see where the beauty takes me. Bravo, THUNDERFUL! I fully understand why Atari invested in you, and I look forward to what the future holds!

All the fun of the original Rayman, plus tons of additional levels, and all of the variety of the various original ports! Picked it up yesterday, and it's all the fun I remember, but I also love the documentary aspects of the collection. A+! Especially for the price! Some people are upset about the change in music, but a majority of us just don't care. That is a ridiculous reason to give this excellent collection a low score.

I can't believe this runs at all on the Nintendo Switch - Switch 2, sure. But I'm floored by how great this in. I'm utterly obsessed with System Shock since Atari/Night Dive remade it for modern consoles! I can't believe I missed this when it first dropped - it's like a mix of Doom's first-person shooter with a huge dose of RealMyst-like adventure gaming. At every stage I am in awe that there is SO MUCH MORE left to explore! I plan on 100%-ing this game... it's that good! Returning to add, the update made the game EVEN BETTER! I've almost finished it, and I'll be sad to wrap this one up. I do plan on playing the remastered sequel, but I can't imagine it being as good as this! One last update: I have finally completed System Shock Remake. This is officially my favorite gaming experience of all-time. Wow.

I am not disappointed! I had never played the original Xevious, nor any ports – what a game! Dig Dug has Long been a favorite, & this verifies that the 2600 port was as fun as I remember it! I like the graphics of the arcade, 5200, & 7800 ports better, but the 2600 plays just right! Of course, what is there to say about PacMan? I am of the opinion that the 7800 version of Galaga is the GOAT. I'd never played Galaxian until now, & I am absolutely HOOKED! Now, sure: the arcade version of PacMan would've been icing on the cake, or Bob D's new port of the game. I was surprised they didn't at least mention Mrs. PacMan (the drama there is fascinating), Pole Position, or Mappy in the documentary content. That said, for $7.99 it packs a punch! Fascinating historical content, and excellent gameplay! If any of my critiques were addressed it would make an already fantastic DLC even better. I hope Atari keeps these coming... maybe Activision will be next?

If I could give it an 8.5, I would. This is what I call "stupid fun." It's intentionally low-res, and old-school, but man... it WORKS! It's a fun game with a surprising amount of depth, but that's not the end of it... NOW they've just released an update that SUPER-MARIO-MAKER's the game... you can access fan-made levels, and play those as well! I may have a new favorite game.

I enjoy the fighting style, and love the art/design. The story is a bit silly, but that's normal for Shinobi. In all honesty, I think this is a 7.5+ - not the best Shinobi game in the series, but absolutely worth a play.

Think Blasphemous meets Dead Cells, with classic Atari ADVENTURE tie-ins/Easter eggs. The artstyle is very catching, and the sound sets the vibe. The first boss is brutally tough, but once you get past him, you'll have a grasp on a number of the important fighting mechanics - like parrying - and you'll begin to really take off. My first impression was that it was "okay", but once I got into the meat of the game, I began to really enjoy it! Eventually the song really ramps up the difficulty, so I imagine that only the very best will see the end credits of teh game, but it is very worthwhile giving this one a shot. An update months later: I got stuck for a while, then Atari ran an update which greatly improved the battle sequences, as well as adding new areas, new bosses, and new items. Excellent game!

Beautiful artstyle/design and beautiful sound create a unique vibe, and I'm interested in the classic Adventure easter-eggs. My only complaint so far is that the "boss fights" are as tough as nail - punishingly difficult. I like the rest of the game so much that I'll push through, but Adventure of Samsara isn't for "light fun" gaming - it takes hard WORK! An update: months later, and now running the 2.0 update, and they fixed the clunkiness of the fighting, added new areas, new bosses, and additional items. A great game, just got better. Definitely worth giving a try and well worth the money!

Another "win" for Atari's RECHARGED series of games... I always found the original game interesting, but nearly unplayably tough. The "recharge" here isn't only with graphical presentation, but the gameplay just functions better. It's still tough, but FAIR, & genuinely fun (might I say, addictive?). A solid game!

I had been holding out on this to go on a super sale, but then they announced the Bandai-Namco DLC, & I had to go all in. I'm glad I did. I like the "museum"/documentary aspect of the collection, for sure, and though there is some trash (does anyone genuinely enjoy playing Spring 8, or Basic Math?), there's also a LOT to love! My favs are the arcade version of Crystal Castles, & Missile Command, the console classics Miner 2049er, Caverns of Mars (what a GREAT GAME!), Berzerd, Frenzy & Yars Revenge, & the new/enhanced games. I hope they continue working out publishing deals for more future DLCs because I'd love to have the Atari 800 port of Zaxxon, or the Jaguar port of Aliens vs. Predator! That said, it's a fun collection containing ours of retro gameplay! UPDATE: A year after first purchasing the game, I updated my score to 10/10... I am flabbergasted by the replayability found in this collection. My favorites from the original collection and the various DLCs continually shifts, but no matter what I find myself turning this on at least twice a week, and spending no less than 45 minutes playing it whenever I do. It sure is a good time to be an Atari fan!

I found myself challenged at nearly every turn, since the puzzles take insight and awareness of your surroundings, the strategy during battle sequences is akin to high level chess, and every conversation you have ultimately impacts the outcomes of the game. The game dropped YESTERDAY and I've already grinded 4 hours - and yes, I have a full-time job and a family! I need more sleep!Is you have an open mind, and are willing to give it some time, MCD is a deeply rewarding, adventurous, and challenging addition to the Missile Command universe. I not only plan on winning it, but I'm hoping for add-ons, expansion packs, and additional future missions. This is worth building on!Bravo, Atari - thank you for another great game!

Though I've always generally liked the original Breakout and Super Breakout, THIS is THE GAME... the pinnacle of the genre! Especially when played multiplayer, once you get past level 3 it's laugh out loud fun, and one I will return to again and again for years to come. The reorientation works far better than I ever imagined, and the power-ups totally transform the game from just "eh, it's fun", to pure insanity, in the very best way! I love it!

I've heard there were 2 versions of this Recharged game - I am only familiar with the 2nd, which is a very fun, faithful adaptation/update to the original game. The power-ups are a ton of fun, and like the original, the gameplay is frantic and exciting. I would dare say that this is THE version of Missile Command to play - there's a surprising amount of variety here, honestly, and we return to it often! This is one of the games my children enjoy playing with me as a multiplayer game. Definitely worth picking up when it's on sale!

If you enjoy Centipede, this is a very fun, nice looking and sounding, faithful update to the original. The power-ups are a fun addition. It's definitely grindable, even if it's not the very best of the Recharged series. That said, when it goes on sale it's worth buying. We play it at least once a week in our home.

Honestly, this is an instant classic! I love it so much that I want to buy a 7800+ to play the original, and it's sequels! Honestly, I'd love to see Phobos & Mars Mission II also added to the Recharged series, based on videos I've seen! This is a simple, elegant, fast-paced old-school arcade game involving quick decision making, great sound effects, and graphics. When this one is turned on in my house, a line forms - everyone from my 7-year old daughter to my college student son, and everyone in between, want a turn! A nearly perfect little Atari game! UPDATE: I'm still playing this years later. It truly is a classic. I imagine I'll still regularly return to it years from now, as well.

I was always awful at the original Yars Revenge, but I acknowledge it's creativity and special place in classic gaming. That said, I took a leap on Yars: Recharged based on the recommendation of several friends, & WOW. I understand the buzz! Though it's a lot of fun to grind single-player, where it really shines is in multiplayer mode! It does a good job of easing you into the gameplay, but the later levels get HARD! My only complaint is it could use a "save" feature, so we could pick up on a later level instead of always starting at stage 1. Otherwise, I love this game! UPDATE: I still return to this often, and I LOVELOVELOVE it as a multiplayer game!

A confession: this game INFURIATED me initially. You will die. You will die for no discernible reason. You will have NO CLUE what is going on at first. And it is for a good reason: the game is intentionally a commentary on fascism, and once you allow it to be what it is, you will become OBSESSED. Once it "clicked", I started grinding and level after level defeating that big eye becomes so incredibly rewarding. And every level is unique - it's like playing multiple, related games, each with their own unique rules. I never managed to do very well on the original I, Robot arcade machine, but I'm now grinding away at Level 17, and I absolutely LOVE I, Robot!

This is - particularly the SHADOW portion - the GREATEST Sonic game ever made. The original Generations was already and classic, and having it updated/remade for the Switch (I didn't know the Switch was capable of these graphics?!) was a delight - the port is PERFECT, but somehow they added SHADOW GENERATIONS - all new levels and play - to the mix, & there aren't words! This may be the greatest game released on the switch - it'd have to fight it out with Super Mario Wonder and Super Smash Bros... but it's a top tier game. Laugh-out-loud fun, insanely fast-paced, rewarding - just a perfect Sonic game. I'm not sure where they can go from here?!

A top 5 Sonic game - the original Colors was my family's favorite game on the Wii, and though somewhat glitchy when it first dropped for Switch, Colors Ultimate is a solid game, post-update/fixes. Excellent graphics and gameplay, and a fun story to boot. Definitely top-shelf Sonic!

Apart from a few entirely unreasonable boss fights that may have you rage-quitting for short periods of time, Sonic Superstars is in my Sonic Top 5. I particularly enjoy playing it with my 12 year old in a two player story mode. Sadly, the multiplayer play totally breaks down with more than two players - the games greatest downfall. Overall great level design, and fun, fastpaced play!

The game is brutal. Somewhat insane. Deserving of it's nickname, "Mr. Die & Die." That said, it is beautiful, fast-paced, rewarding, and delightfully, laugh-out-loud FUN! An Atari classic, and one of my favorite games to play on the Switch, outright. And I am TERRIBLE at it... I have to use the STAR power-up to finish most levels at this point, but even THEN, it's challenging! I'm going back and replaying levels to see if I can complete each one without help. This and Sonic x Shadow Generations are easily the 2 best games I've played in the past 5 years! An update: why don't we have a sequel?!
