I just cannot relate with this through and through unsympathic James Bond. The character just feels outdated. The Story is weak. Why is Bond able to defeat the bad guy in poker although that man is a genious? I dont know. But Mads Mikkelsen gives a great performance as the bad guy. I gave the movie a try because the poker setting looked exciting - but especially that parts went down rather boring.
Just came out of the cinema and i am blown away... again! Just awesome to watch, and also touching. Sure the movie has its weakpoints, but none of them hurt the experience. A must watch!
Dear critics: are you nuts!? How can you review a film that good, that doesnt Even gets it's basic message right? The film absolutely ignores what it means being a Jedi, destroys Luke and Leia, shows a rebel leader that acts more like a dictator, etc. On top of all Last Jedi destroys the rules of this Galaxy far far away and makes you watch stupid scenes with awkward writing and dialogue. One point for the great cinematography and visual appeal.
A very enjoyable movie that you can blame for one thing: it is too short! Another hour of runtime with more character and story development and this would have been a hit in the Fantasy genre
The movie makes you understand the craziest supervillain of all time. What an achievement! Further than that the film makes you feel for him and you begin to understand, that even psychopaths have their reasons. I think many bad Reviews from the press are made because of a Moral viewpoint, but i think this film doesnt want to be a film about moral. It's a character Sketch (or "Charakterstudie" as it's called in German) and it is less about judging people… it's about understanding them. That does not mean automatically that anarchy or bad beheavior is praised or excused.
I messed around with my brightness settings on my TV, but it didnt help. This film is sooo dark you dont see anything. Overall the film was average, in story, acting and action. Guess i am just happy it did turned out to be a disaster like Ep.7 & 8. Give Solo a try but better dont expect much.
Usually i like slow paced films, but at some point a movie should draw interest or emotion. There are almost no story peaks that are exciting, suspensful, emotional or whatever. When people die for example, they get killed suddenly out of nowhere, so even before these moments the movie builds up no suspense. Many scenes are far too long and forgettable, like both the weddings and many more. Even the horsehead had no relevance for anything. The acting is solid but never reaches any remarkable levels. Not one of the characters is truly likeable, what makes it difficult to feel for them. In the end i am also a bit disappointed of the camera work: too many wideshots, too less facial close ups and missing overall aesthetics in look and scenery. I feel bad for rating a classic movie like this so low, but i cant see the brilliancy of The Godfather.
The story and dialogues are well written, the minimalistic artstyle is pure eyecandy, the soundeffects and music are unforgettable. In my opinion one of the best scifi films in this decade. Only one Thing left to say: **** you Sally!"
This is the most unispired peace of plagiarism i have ever seen! How could you come up with a Star Wars movie that is completely out of new ideas!? I felt zero excitement during the whole movie because i allways knew what will happen. Then you get the worst and most unimpressive bad guys in movie history, then cheaply kill one of the most beloved characters because the script has zero emotion and you are done with this movie!! Everything this movie does, does Episode IV even today a hundred times better, more exciting and more emotional. I loved Episode I-III because they were different and fresh in comparison to IV-VI. Star Wars was always brave, innovative and rose the bar for science fiction movies. The Force Awakens is just a cowardly, uninspired joke! SHAME ON YOU Abrams and Disney!
