Overhyped is the only word that comes to mind when thinking of this film. I really went into it expecting to see one of the best movies that the MCU has to offer and I left extremely disappointed. Nothing in this particular movie stands out as special except for the fact that it is about a superhero who is black. The fact that this is up for best picture is an absolute shame and warrants an apology from the academy. It is nothing more than just another hype train of a film escalated by the fact that it did something as "different" as have a predominantly black cast lead it. It's "Moonlight" all over again! I honestly feel that "Blankman" was a better black superhero movie than this overrated hunk of mediocrity.

You know I truly went into this movie expecting something decent and you know what I got? Utter garbage of the lowest quality. Just to sum it up quickly I will say that every last character in this movie is just god awful and left me hoping that, by the end, not one of them was left standing. It is ridiculously predictable and even the more violent and grotesque scenes did nothing new or shocking whatsoever. The only redeeming quality about this movie is the fact that it crushes nicely under the weight of a semi-truck tire after being chucked onto the freeway. Absolutely avoid this movie at all costs for gods sake. We as viewers should not have to tolerate such garbage and need to speak up against poor levels of creativity, character development and story in our films. I truly look forward to seeing both the writer and director of this movie never work in film again unless they decide to come together once more to document themselves putting their heads into wood chippers on camera. At least than I could say they filmed something with a purpose!

First off I must say that I do love this movie a great deal and give it a very high recommendation, but only to the right audience. Some artsy fairy is not the type of audience you want viewing this movie. Many complain that it has no plot and really goes nowhere, but that is the whole point of the movie. That is even explained in the opening dialogue of the movie delivered by the great Sam Elliot. It is a movie that isn't necessarily supposed to make sense and just be kind of stupid funny. Stupid, if done correctly, can be crafted into gold and that is the exact case with The Big Lebowski. It's not trying to draw you in with a deep plot with twists and turns that leave you on the edge of your seat for the duration of the film. It's just meant to be a goofy comedy about the craziness that ensues following a simple misunderstanding. If you can't wrap your water drenched brain around that concept than their is no hope left for you. This is not a deeply moving picture that is supposed to leave you in deep thought after viewing. It is exactly what the directors intended it to be and nothing more. Just because your TV guide suggests you avoid it due to a lack of story or character development does not mean that it can't still be hilarious.
