There is no puzzle platformer that bests Braid in the puzzling aspect. It is an incredible experience in testing your mind. On top of that it looks and sounds spectacular. Yum
I didn't love DKC Returns. The original DonkeyKong Country games are among the best platformers of all time. But Tropical Freeze is outstanding. It took me too long to experience how great this game is. The level design is second to none. No Mario game does what this game does. It's fantastic. David Wise back for the score. The music and effects are sublime.
The single best metroidvania of all time. It is perfect in every way. I'd love to relive the days coming home from work late at night playing Hollow Knight and not knowing when to go to sleep because it is so arresting. Gameplay, level design, lore, music, art are all absolutely incredible. All apologies to all the great Metroid games I loved prior to this....
For pure platforming this is as good as it gets. It is so innovative and fun and clever and that's just the gameplay. The art style is simple but effective and awesome and the music is phenomenal. The story is great as advertised but it's a perfect game without that. Celeste is the best 2d side scrolling platformer of all time. I've played the game and DLC probably 5 times through and although I'll never 100% due to the difficulty it stands so tall I can't speak highly enough of it.
Probably the best flight simulator of all time. I remember the graphics blowing my mind on Xbox 20 years ago but it still looks nice and the controls and game play are still so fun.
This is an overlooked and underrated gem of a puzzle platformer. The aesthetics are wondrous. Art style and music are perfect. It's challenging and charming and I wish more people gave this game the credit it deserves. The Switch version is a bummer because you have to play co-op. Still worth a buy but on PS3 or any other medium you can go solo it's so dang good.
Art style is amazing. Potential was big. Ultimately seemed rushed and ended so abruptly I was in shock. The developers have massive promise I was let down but look forward to what they have next.
