Dungeon Keeper (2014)0

This game is designed from the ground up to nickel and dime you. Except instead of nickels and dimes, it is large wads of cash. Shame on EA for producing this garbage. Remember when the "A" in EA stood for "Arts"?

SOL: Exodus5

It is nice to see a modern space sim. It has been a long time, and there is a nostalgia factor here for great games like freelancer or dark star one. The combat is decent enough. The biggest downside is that the game only takes you through a series of scripted missions, with no freedom or open world to explore. I'd say the game may be worth the low price a few minutes of fun, but will not replace some of the older, more complex freeform space sims of the past.

FTL: Faster Than Light8
Oct 18, 2013
When I first booted this game up, I didn't get what all the fuss was about. It's low tech, with very simple graphics. But after I played a while, upgraded my ship, found new crew members, and journeyed deeper into the galaxy, I got it. Different weapons work against different shield types. You can upgrade your ship with drones which can ward off missiles or attack an enemy ship. This is all presented in a simple manner, but the gameplay is very addicting. The game is perma-death, which keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Sid Meier's Civilization V10
Oct 16, 2013
Civilization remains the ultimate pinnacle of the turn based strategy genre. This title introduced some significant changes from earlier civ incarnations, such as a hex-grid and no unit stacking. I believe this caused some lower user reviews amongst players who dislike change. However, I believe the combat tactics were only improved by this, on top of the overall rock-solid strategy and city building aspects of the game.

Salvation Prophecy9

Salvation Prophecy combines simple gameplay elements (space fights, third person shooter, strategy, rpg) into an ambitious, wide-ranging space epic that is more than the sum of its parts. Players that favor gameplay over graphics will be pleased with this indie title.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition8
Oct 16, 2013
Brutally difficult and challenging, which makes for a massochistic pleasure for hardcore gamers. As noted in some other reviews, there are some sloppy aspects to the pc port. I played with a gamepad, so may have noticed this less than others. Not for the weak of heart!
