I don't know what could make me give a game a 10, or any piece of media a full score, but this game comes very close.I have everlasting good memories of many games Final Fantasy 7/8/9 & Tactics, Diablo 1 & 2, Starcraft, Warcraft, Baldurs Gate 1 & 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Quake 1 & 2... from when I was a **** last few years Elden Ring, Disco Elysium, Baldurs Gate 3, Hades, Inscryption, Ori (both games), Helldivers 2, Control, ... all for different reasons. So many surprises & memories.Expedition 33 blends so many elements from so many of these games and it has made me feel something very special. The characters and voice acting are the best I have ever heard. The world and world building are **** combat is fresh and familiar all at once. Everything about this game is basically perfect.I am only a few hours in and I can already tell that this will be a memory game. This will stay with me as a fond memory.A brilliant hsowcase for what gaming can really do. Boundless creativity and expression.Masterpiece. Play it. This game should not cost as much as it does. For the price there is very very little content, it is repetetive and bland. What content there is serves only to try funnel you in to paying for additional items/battle pass content. They want you to stay in the eco-system and spend more money. This is not a video game, it is a gateway to a casino style game. I played the main campaign to the end, and it was entertaining for the first few hours. 75% of the main campaign is just grind the same things until the end. I put the game down after i finishe dthe main campaign, i came back once to try the higher level stuff... and just uninstalled the launcher. No reason to touch it again. I am upset i spent so much money on this.
Updated my review after finishing first full playthrough. This is a 10/10 game. Can't express enough how almost perfect this game is. It captures everything that is great about D&D and makes a brilliant CRPG. D&D has issues, it is not the best TTRPG but it works very very well as a video game. However it is as close to perfect as a game like this is ever likely to be, absolutely without a doubt one of the best video games ever made. It is staggering what these developers have pulled off. I can only wish that other developers would take similar approaches, i don't think that will happen. This is probably a unicorn... and we are so lucky to have it.
