Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged

I played the original game many decades ago. It wasn’t one of my favorites. I used to remember some scenes and parts when I started the Reforged. Now I have a better impression of the games that I did back then. The remake of the graphics and art is excellent, the new design of the characters. The music and sound effects(which I think are the original ones) Its one of the best aspects of the game. Its an adventure design so you can have a good time, relax. The atmosphere never becomes too oppressive or dark. The best parts of the story are the those directly connected with the action of finding the treasure. The cave, the Vasconcellos mansion, search for clues in the parchment. I liked a lot the action sequence on the train. I didn’t remember that part. Some dialogues between George and Nico are very good as well. The love triangle between George, Nico and Andre is okay but its not developed enough. What I don’t like are the puzzles in general. They feel very implausible in many moments. There are many puzzles to distract characters so you can take an object or advance to a location. There are also a lot of stereotypical and cartoonish characters along with a lot of weak dialogue. I recognize thay they put a lot of work and thought into this game in the 90´s. The music, the script, level variations. I understand why its considered one of the best adventures of that era.

The gameplay is very limited. It feels more like an interactive movie. The art design is perfect. It looks like the fort design was made by real **** story its correct and the voice acting its superb. The ending lacks a more extended epilogue.

The story and the locations are very original. The story has some fantastic characteristics that I am not much of a fan of. Some characters and locations made me remember of Gabriel Knight 1. The nerd assistant, the church, the crypt, the bike. The graphics are ok and the music too. The voice acting its one of the best things of the game, specially Kathys actress. Some puzzles have a lot of potential to be great but they are not very intuitive. I found myself going from one location to another asking questions. It got really tiresome. Ill play the sequel at some point, for what I saw in the trailer, they improve the graphics.

Star Trek: Resurgence

Im not a trekkie. I always found boring all the movies and shows from the franchise, with exception of the JJ Abrams films. But I must say this game is amazingly written. Star Trek always had a slow paced, teathrical rhythm. The ship and the bridge looked like a stage theatre and the conversations lead the action. Thats why I think the Telltale formula and gameplay adapts perfectly to Star Trek. The game has a lot of repetitive gameplay and stupid minigames, but at the same time has enough variations and different scenarios to compensate. The main negative thing of this game its the graphics. They look old... like PS3 old. To conclude, I think its one of the best Telltale kind of game that I played. I recently played the Telltale new game, The Expanse, that has way better graphics and great mechanics. But I think Resurgence its far better than that one.

One of the best Star Wars games. Jedi Outcast its one of my favourite games of all time but this game surpasses it in every aspect. Very poor optimized for PC but totally playable if you have a high range GPU. The gameplay and the story improve a lot from the previous game and the new combat stances are a lot of fun.

Not for me. I like how they made a medieval story without falling in all the Hollywood cliches and in all the woke trends. But the gameplay its too square and boring. The fighting lacks fluidity and its too slow. I passed the intro and the first level that works as a tutorial. I felt really immersed in the world. In one of the first missions I needed to get a disguise so I needed a lockpick from the trader. I didnt have too many things with me. I robbed some things and food and tried to trade it for a miserable lockpick, but it wasnt enough. And later the lockpick mechanism looked cheap, like some layers of graphics superposed with each other but didnt felt like a mechanism. I really tried to play the game because there is a sequel about to be released, but I encounter too many obstacles just to do some minor actions and to complete some trivial missions.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series

One of the best Telltale games. I am a fan of the series so I am a bit biased. Drummer it’s a great character and the Expanse world offers a lot of opportunities. What this game offers comparing to other Telltale games it’s a way to navigate the levels in a 3d way. There is not gravity at certain points so you could walk on some walls, ceilings, etc. Regardless the Telltale formula its getting a bit old. There is a lack of interactivity in some cutscenes and when you have to press a button quickly, if you make a mistake you can try again. It lacks difficult in the gameplay, like every other game of the company. I am glad that they resurrected the company and that they choose this franchise to do it. I don’t think that they could ever achieve what they did with “The Walking Dead” season 1. In the moment it was fresh and something you never saw before, but five years ago this formula it was already old.

One of the best modern RTS game of this kind. It shares the podium with Shadow Tactics. And is the more realistic and crude experience you can experience in this genre. The story and characters are very well written. The voice acting is also superb. When you hear Ewald speak, you inmediatley recognize the other character that Doug **** is famous for. I only played the single player campaign, not the multiplayer, but I found a lot of detail and care in level design in areas of the map where the events of the campaign don’t pass. That tells you a lot about the dedication of the developers. The maps are very large and I like how the mission will update after a goal and take you to different parts of the map. The level in the concentration camp and the screams of the people in the gas chamber is something quite shocking and it shows the maturity of the story that the game is narrating. There are a few negatives points. Sometimes the characters cant turn corners quite right or they get stuck in a door frame or next to a tree. The enemy AI is something that needs a few improvements. I find myself in a level next to a electricity generator that I turned off. One by one the enemies enter the room, I killed them and stash them in a locker. I killed like 7 or 10 this way. After the third soldier that disappear the enemies should change the strategy and not enter the room the same way over and over again. The most negative thing that I experience is when I was finishing the second level, and how I wrote before, the maps are very large and the mission are very long. The game had a major update that deleted my saved games. So I had to play the second level from the beginning.I stoped playing. A few months later when “63 days” was released and I give the game another chance and I dont regret it. Its something that I can forgive considering it’s a small studio. I find it hard to imagine how “Commandos” could compete with “War Mongrels” or another games from this studio. The game elevates the bar and it gives you a complete different experience of what are we are used to. “Mimimi” games had also a new competitor but their games are more cartoonish and with more juvenile stories. For the moment it surely will give the upcoming “Commandos Origin” a standard that is really difficult to equate.

An amazing game. The perfect combination between music and gameplay. The soundtrack from Austin Wintory is out of this world.I played it in Playstation 3 many years ago and I was amazed. How this game without a clear story and with a character without a name and without voice can drive to your **** the end, when your character reaches the end of the pilgrimage I was completely **** encounter some characters like yourself along the way. At the end I understood that there were other players playing at the same time like a multiplayer game. Thats a nice touch, I dont know if it was the same way in the PS3.This is a must have experience. The only indy game that is between my top favourites games of all time.

I loved the first game and this one surpasses it in every aspect. Its has more fluidity than the first one because you dont have to find trash all the time to make fuel. Regardless I prefer "Lone Sails" because it was a fresher concept when I played it.I hope that they make a third game to put the ribbon in this world they created.

One of the most original games I played in a long time. Great art and voice acting. It made me remember the cartoon movies from when I was a kid, and I think its better written than most cartoon movies that Pixar and Disney released in the past years.I will be waiting for the forgotlings sequel that will come out this year.

Nice story. A good continuity to "Deliver us the moon". It looks that it has more budget, more actors and better graphics. And a more diverse gameplay without changing the core of the previous title.Maybe I was expecting a little more of mistery on Mars, maybe aliens or something like that. But the writers went another way. A more grounded way. Maybe a little too flat in storytelling but with great character arcs.I will surely buy the next title and ending of the trilogy: "Deliver us Earth".

Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse

User ScoreGabrielJucht

The Serpent Curse has beautiful drawings, the background and the characters have a lot of work and are really well **** weak point of this game is the script and how the characters are written. I played all the games from this franchise when they were released. I don’t remember them pretty well but I can draw a few ideas from this last **** characters are unidimensional. The main character, George Stobbart, its as absurd as it **** is he? Hes a lawyer, who likes to travel and gets himself into a lot of trouble. And that’s pretty much it.What does he wants? Whats his desiree? How was his family assembled? Does he wish to form a family? Does he wants to have sex? Have a girlfriend? Who knows, who cares.Nico its written in the same regard. A recognized journalist who wants to break a story and win prizes. What else does she wants? Who **** game and the whole series its about a man and a woman that investigate mysteries and conspiracies related to the occult and biblical stories. I cant help to compare it to Gabriel **** the first game you knew who Gabriel was, how was his family formed, who was his childhood friend, his sexual interest in Malia, etc.Grace was also well written. Despite you don’t know a lot about her, the relationship between the characters was one of the best parts of the games. And how the relationship between them evolves throughout the stories was one of the best qualities of the **** this consideration, Broken Sword loses by a couple of miles.Besides this lack of depth in how the characters are written, the same happened with the story and the **** puzzles are pretty absurd in the most part. Then the “realism” and difficulty varies, and goes to the other range. Where there is an object you have to decipher and find it impossible without the solution at hand.I have to recognize that the option that gives you hints to solve the stage where you are is pretty convenient, and it helps you avoid checking the internet for help.I sure find the game entertaining and I will be playing the sequel and remaster of the original(or the remaster of the remaster). But I cant help to think that the franchise its missing its target audience. When the game was released in the early 90´s there were no multiplayer games, Minecraft, Fortnite or mobile games. If you were a teen you sure played point and click adventures because there wasn’t pretty much anything **** Broken Sword story and their characters were made for teens, or twenty something(at most) and it was ok.Thirty years later the concept its still the same, the characters are the same. It’s a franchise that didn’t evolve and mature with its audience. Because I bet that the teens today don’t play point and click adventures and If they did, the numbers must be pretty ****’s a franchise that targets to a feeling of nostalgia instead of delivering a conceptually updated product. But who knows , maybe Broken Sword 6 will change my mind.
