Dr Who's strange new era is an intense departure from any of it's prior roots. The now campy supernatural drama pits the new pantomime style doctor character against supernatural creatures and gods with rules that require no problem solving in a world very unlike our own. The moral posturing is also obviously crude and heavy handed, but this is by far not the most obvious flaw in the new direction, which is the tone and story-telling.

Real return to form on the solid mystery writing. Less drama this season, but that's not what I'm in for.

Absolutely solid action thriller. If you like this type of story content, you'll binge it.

Comedic, weird, and a little bit fantasy/sci-fi. A fun trip, if you enjoy that sort of thing.

If it was composed of quirky stories like the first episode, I'd say this has a reason to exist. But ends up taking the form of a mixture of stories, including character backstories that are largely uninteresting, inferior versions of stories that might occur on the main show. I don't see this being renewed.

Gorgeous CGI, captivating setting, mostly uninteresting stories with unrelatable characters. Fails to involve the audience.

First episode at least, very mediocre by comparison to GoT. Sound engineering is awful, CGI looks cheap, costuming looks very clean and new, music is unoriginal. The acting is competent, but the story starts very slowly, and there's really only one compelling scene. Few characters stand out as interesting. Targaryen's come across less like a golden age empire, and more like the any other house with blond wigs (literally). Pacing is also quite wack.

Comedy isn't funny, mystery isn't mysterious, isn't thrilling. Hit's you over the head with cues, as subtle as a **** in the bed. Utterly boring.
