It's early, as I am only in my first game, but this one has all sorts of innovations to the Civ-type 4x game. Orders make you prioritize what you want to do each turn. Events really add some interesting decisions regularly, and having a line of succession really is a game changer. I feel like it freshens the game periodically, and really adds to how you plan. Overall, it just feels like you have a real civilization interacting with other real civilizations. It sounds like they are going to add a ton more events to the game (it's early access), so that should help with replayability. I'm starting with an 8 since I'm early, but I think the final score will almost certainly be higher.

If this one isn't a 10 in your book, there are no 10's in your book (or you simply aren't a fan of this type of game at all). If you like RPGs or turn based games, this is simply one of the best. The most innovative game I've played in a long, long time.

I've played too many games with graphics that were beautiful to look at, but ended up gathering dust on my shelf because they simply weren't fun to play. Panzer Corps isn't very pretty by today's standards, but looks nice enough and is a blast to play. That's all that really matters to me. I'm very excited for the variable battle sequence in the campaign, basing the next battle on the results from the previous one. $40 does seem a bit steep, but the Panzer General series was one of my all time favorites, and this is worth every penny to me.
