Total War: Rome II5

What a mess. Even with all the fancy mods. Sure, I put in close to 200hrs, but most of that time was spent trying to get my units off a siege tower without falling into the wall and disappearing. Also, the family tree and politics stuff is terribly optimized and a waste of time. Etc etc. See Reynald Sanity's youtube video to get my drift. Buy on super sale only.

This is the shooter that completed my training, I am now a Jedi Master. The Brothers in Arms series was the beginning, this was the end. After having given up on shooters, mostly due to lackluster and spamville multiplayer sessions in COD and Halo, I found this gem. No bs hit points for days; actual teamwork; no radar-no on screen crosshairs etc. Its gritty and feels authentic... for a game. And no ammo count, this is a great feature. You actually have to listen and count yer ammo per clip.

Surprisingly fun, hard to put down for the first 200hrs. You're a car, and there is a ball. You can fly for short bursts. Plenty of laughs, a few chirps, one or two cries. Sure there are some salty dogs, but they won't bother you as long as you rotate. Seriously...R-O-T-A-T-E.

Zzzzz, same same but different...Seriously. It runs well, the gameplay is decent, and I like the variety of vehicular **** Elephants! Sadly the game loses its lustre pretty fast and gets repetitive fairly early on. Having said all that, def buy it if it's on sale. Expect to get 10-15hrs out of it.

What can I say, this is my fave game of all time. If you have any interest in playing a game where you can change the outcome of history, well, this it it. I would never have thought something could ever replace the Total War series as my go to historical sim/ fantasy generator. Sure the learning curve is a bit steep, but nothing like EU 2 or 3. So rich and detailed, so rewarding.

I wish I could rate it higher. Its such a beautiful game, with an interesting story line, and great music. Unfortunately there isn't much there in terms of actual game play. It felt like I was just along for the ride, a spectator rather than a character. The mechanics are pretty simple. The battles incidental.

Zzzzzzzz...Cluttered poorly explained and distracting UI...discount cartoony WoW style graphics and colours, historical mode (Records Mode) seems tacked-on, poorly organized settlement building system. Battles are smooth, thats a pro. For the record I played on hard my first try and am winning despite not understanding or engaging with many mechanics such as generals liking each other or not. Don't buy unless there's a big sale.

As far as I know the servers have been dead for some time, inundated with hackers, but for a year and a half it was the ride of my life. It took the silly physics of the fighting in M&B to a polished new level. And of course many have complained about the lack of first-person view-mode, but i was really happy about this. FP has no place in hand to hand combat, it is clunky and inelegant and has no place here. Lets be clear, anyone involved in a melee relies heavily on peripheral vision which in FP is quite inadequate. The graphics were amazing, visuals were clear, and there were no upgrades that veteran players could accumulate to be overly powerful; it was a level playing field based on skill. I have sunk a total of 320 hours into this beauty and i have to say I miss it.
