Christopher Nolan's take on Homer, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, is undeniably a spectacle. Visually stunning and artistically distinct, it's a bold and ambitious take on the ancient epic. Yet something about its texture feels off. Nolan reportedly built his script around Emily Wilson's 2017 translation, known for trading Homer's ceremonial, formulaic grandeur for brisk, accessible modern English. That choice bleeds into the film itself. The result is oddly disjointed. The film opens mid-story, with a man narrating events from a banquet hall — well past the poem's traditional in medias res opening, closer to the climactic bloodbath. Scenes feel like modular set-pieces rather than a cumulative mythic journey. Critics have noted the film is vast and thrilling but somewhat emotionally aloof, ambitious in scope yet oddly guarded at its core. Structurally fractured, dialogue stripped of poetic ceremony — it trades Homer's rolling grandeur for something starker, and loses cohesion in the exchange.

I just watched this at the cinema, having really looked forward to seeing DiCaprio, Penn, and Del Toro in the same film. I cannot underestimate how bad this film is. Reviews state it's an epic action film, really? On what realm of reality is it a 'scintillating ' action film, as I read from one critic. Action has been done better on television for the last 20 years than is on display here. The best part of the whole film was the cinematography in the last 10 minutes, particularly during the car chase. The sweeping visuals were let down, however, by what was probably the least thrilling car chase since Driving Miss Daisy. All 3 actors had little to play with as the script and plot go but did what they can, which still couldn't save this from being a festering turd of a film

This is the equivalent of a 3rd wave feminist tedtalk in movie form. The director is oblivious to subtlety on her messaging. Also it mocks the real events that transpired, with all the man / boy hate. It reminded me of the all chinese propaganda films during the cultural revolution.

This movie has aged poorly. The CGI is a mounstrosity in 2024. Avoid at all cost.

This “film” played out like a paedophiles fever dream - the overarching message it attempted to communicate about the battle of nature vs nurture and the gradual and inevitable destruction of one’s morality as we age out of adolescence and encounter the horrors of humanity, although clearer towards the end of the film, is VERY thinly veiled in light of the obscenely unnecessary graphic “Lolita” esque overtone that drove the majority of the plot. I saw a reviewer that wrote that he was “smiling” up until Emma Stone’s character Bella gained enough consciousness to develop the language and autonomy necessary to critically reflect on her “relationship” with Mark Ruffalo’s character and begin to self-advocate - at which point he tired of the film….. only to find his joy and “smile again” once she was imprisoned by her abusive husband. Surprise surprise, this reviewer also didn’t care for the ending of the film where she had gained back her autonomy …yep. This review alone encompassed and confirmed all I needed to know about the calibre of individuals who “enjoyed” this film. If it looks, walks and talks like a duck, it’s a duck. IF SHE TALKS LIKE AN INFANT, WALKS LIKE AN INFANT AND HAS THE LITERAL BRAIN OF AN INFANT - BELLA IS AN INFANT that the audience is supposedly supposed to happily watch be groomed into sex slavery under the guise of “sexual liberation”. Regardless if the repeated sexual exploitation (and exploration) of Bella whilst she moves through chronologic infant-child-adolescent developmental periods is key to the plot, which it very well may be, the sheer insistence of repeated, aggressive and unrestrained subjection to these scenes (which could have very easily been inferred or implied with MUCH more nuance) made me question who this film was made for. Realistically, I believe many who watch this film, like the reviewer I referred to earlier, will conveniently miss or gloss over the “point” of the film in favour of reviling in the fantasy of having access to a hyper dependant and developmentally delayed sex slave - I mean, let’s be real - “Poor Things” certainly did its very darndest to portray having unlimited access to a sex slave who acts and thinks like a 4 year old look super fun, didn’t it?Did I understand and appreciate the message? Yes - but this message would have been been a hell of a lot clearer and infinitely more impactful if the film didn’t quite literally pander to paedophilic delusions for the first 1.5 hours.

For the longest time I’ve dreamt of Frank Herbert’s legendary literature turned into a movie. It almost seemed an impossible task for decades on end. With many attempts, and often all of them coming up **** today, I’m here happily to say, my dream turned into a reality, with DUNE: part two. This feels big, a monumental Sci-Fi/action blockbuster for the masses upon decades to come. DUNE: Part 2 is Nothing short of a monumental achievement in the art form of science fiction adaption & filmmaking. A completely new and unique masterclass of filmmaking by all standards. I’d go as far as to say DUNE: part 2 might honestly be in contention for the greatest film ever made. This is a monumental Sci-Fi/action blockbuster for the masses upon decades to come. Unparalleled to anything prior to, or yet to come. Im not kidding when I say DUNE: part 2 is Up there as an all timer with the matrix, 2001, interstellar, blade runner, and to some extent, Star wars. Love the call backs to Ridley Scott’s gladiator, kubrick’s 2001, & finally, orson welle’s B&W masterclass citizen Kane.Dune: Part 2 is quite simply the best blockbuster of the last decade for science fiction films. Similarly to Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus last year “Oppenheimer”. Villeneuve shows us that the trajectory of his previous, independent film work has been leading him up until this point in his illustrious filmmaking career. Thus, creating his true unimaginable awe inspiring cinematic masterpiece, filled with extraordinary imagery & stunning cinematography by Greig Frasier. This is one of those films that comes around every so often, but leaves you utterly breathless with your jaw hanging on the floor the whole way through its that dazzling and grand. We are witnessing cinematic history once again in the realm of sci-fi spectacle. A spectacular companion piece to the first film that tremendously enhances that. Whilst still being entirely spectacular, fresh, & darker in **** unparalleled experience is waiting for you in the cinemas of IMAX. Hans Zimmer is back doing what he does best with rhythmic compositions and harrowing chant March drum themes. My favourite track being the beating heart of the film’s score “A time of quiet-between the storms.” Not only is this a direct musical representation of Paul Atreides/Chani (Timothee Chalamet & Zendaya’s) loving relationship, in the film. but it is the entire illuminating background of the two character’s development in the story. Even better than the first film, the stakes are exponentially higher, the power struggles even more mythic, the on-screen world-building richer and more exotically filigreed, and the visuals even more dazzling.Austin butler in his villain era, but gives one of the greatest character performances i’ve ever seen. Feyd-Rautha is chaotic, Florence Pugh is an absolute queen in her role, and Christopher walken/anya Taylor joy give great cameo performances in here too. I have no idea how The sphere in the final battle scene was shot, but that’s how I feel about 90% of dune 1/2 when I look back at the sheer magnitude and engulf myself in the exposures of the directorial photography. The shots are absolutely the best I’ve seen in a modern blockbuster ever! Dune: part 2 is the sort of big-canvas franchise storytelling we haven’t see since the LOTR trilogy. I recommend the double feature of Dune part 1/2 for full enjoyment. A tragedy, a conqueror, a legend, a messiah. Denis Villeneuve, please give us Dune: “Messiah” (3rd part) already, the Oscar’s are already secured for this beast my man.

A reminder of how violent revolutions actually end: in even more despotic regimes!

This movie should be rated pg-13. While briefly watching with my 8 year old, I noticed swearing and relationship conversations for 13 yr or older. I am told there is also a kiss, which I do not think should be viewed by young children. I wish I had been warned before letting my son watch even half of this.

Already sunk because of that infamous marvel humor You think they listen to the audience. Do you want an only marvel movie that made any sense, was out of that horrible marvel banter humor. It's what you do when you cannot write a script, when it's jumbled, difficult to understand. But the incredible hulk was a standalone decent movie come and the only good marvel movie there was. It's not like laughter is never used, but fictitious movie depicted real life laughter, not this marvel so-called humor. They'll say it made a lot of money, but It didn't. People get tired of the same script written over and over again. And the more oblivious producers are to the audience, for worst the product is.

A Super mario fans dream movie This movie is a mario fans dream movie, with many Easter eggs from all the games to the plot being something different than the same save the princess plot. It shocked me how good this film is and deserves to be the best video game movie of all time. Though it was quite fast paced which made it a nine out of ten for me. But thats the only bad thing about it. Besides chris pratt mario. With the funny jokes and references to other games, this truly is a fantastic movie which i highly recommend to people who read this to go watch. You will not be disappointed by this film. Nintendo fans would enjoy this more since there's more understanding on whats going on with non nintendo gamers not knowing the references in the movie. With the best part being the fact they finally showed us where the blue shell came from. When the blue shelled koopa used it on Mario and donkey kong to stop them. Overall, a amazing experience that i will never forget. This is a really wholesome movie to me, how much detail and story that was crammed into a 92 minute movie. Some parts even made me cry just from being so nostalgic to me. I was there with the series when i got my hands on a DS and Wii back when i was young, the memories i made playing those mario games came back through this movie. Thats why its this good, the childhood memories of playing on your DS and Wii games that are Mario games really make this movie more fun to watch and understand. Like how Mario and Luigi throughout their whole life, people telling them they won't succeed. But show them that when there together, nothing is impossible. And felt that connection with my own brother since i was always being picked on when i was small but he was there to protect me like how when young Luigi was building a castle out of bricks and another kid destroys it and Mario comes help him. Thats why this movie is great. It has some really good backstory elements sprinkled in there. The super Mario bros movie is something you don't want to miss out on.

GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!!!! This was honestly the most awful film I have ever been unfortunate to watch. If I could i would have left but went with a friend, not a close friend (who probably felt the same but didn't say, awfully British of us). It hurt my ears the tedious songs without any real substance just blurted out with whiny smiles from obnoxious casted overrated children. Emma Thompson was appalling and not the least bit scary , not a tiny wincy patch on Nanny McPhee's acting or character, I was so relieved it was over i cannot comprehend anyone thinking this was a great musical it was horrendous horrendous horrendous!

This is the worst piece of entertainment I have ever seen. Avoid at all cost.

This is the version of Pinocchio you should see, forget about the awful Disney remake version. A masterpiece.

Another Marvel Pander Fest. The first Black Panther was an Ok film. I found it typical and boring and over inflated. This film follows suit in just about every standard. The only real difference here is that it is all female driven and packed full of unnecessary gunk. Character reveals and sloppy CGI. Now don't confuse that with the films look. It looks great if you are into green screen flat computer renderings and questionable lighting choices and angles to hide errors and or laziness. Then there is the elephant in the room. The whole film is centered around paying homage to a man who unfortunately left the scene To early. He was talented and carried the character with respect and strength. But here is 2 + hours of praising him like he was Sidney Poitier, which he wasn't. If you want a super hero movies and preach eulogy all at the same time with some silly ankle wings thrown in in for eyerolls, by all means go for it. If you want to go home feeling good after the experience skip it.

The movie was awful. A very forgetable flick. It is like a bizarro version of romancing the stone.

Screenplay a bit flat Let's start with what was good: the cinematography is gorgeous. Yes it is dark everywhere, just like in every dystopia, but every bit of nature is colourful; flowers are amazingly beautiful, seeds colourful... Now with what I didn't like: sooooo many cringe moments, from implying ****, to animal noises done by humans for waaay too long, passing by conversations that make you very uneasy. On top of that the story is something that was already done in SF, multiple times, but falls flat, which makes the film way too long. To be honest the trailer showed it, I still thought it could have been a good surprise.

Eyerolling It's just a rip off of The Stepford Wives, but worse. A trash screenplay that even talented actors like Pugh and Pine can't make convincing... and Harry Styles should stick to music. I don't know what Olivia Wilde was thinking with this unoriginal premise, especially in terms of not giving credit where it's due and saying it's at least "inspired by" Ira Levin's work. She should've just adapted his book directly instead of this confused, over-the-top plot that takes itself too seriously instead of being a satire. As for the drama behind the scenes I really don't care about any of that. It wouldn't have changed the quality of the film, at least in my opinion.

Just finished watching Prey.... I hate it. It's really dumb and makes no sense lore wise. Movie was definitely overhyped. Yeah there's some cool visuals and kills but it's definitely not as good as the 87 original. I still think Predator 2 is the second best movie in the franchise right now. So disappointed.

All I can say is don't bother or wait for rental or streaming if you insist on seeing this turd as it is yet another in the long line of films in Disney's crusade to reduce every beloved fictional character to an agenda-driven caricature. In case you didn't know it: Disney did not create the Black Panther, nope, they bought him (comparison to historical evils is intentional) and milked him for all he's worth. To make matters worse, if you are old enough to remember, the character was created in precisely the opposite spirit of this trite, overly-politicized nonsense. There are some decent performances, but otherwise this film is devoid of any merit whatsoever, even within the context of the MCU. Save your money and your time or get some of the old comics, they have fun and heart, two things Disney abandoned long ago in their endless quest for the maximum profit possible.

I wanted to pull out my eyes at the movie theather... that bad.... If you dress up a monkey in fancy clothes. in the end it is still a monkey.... the same happens with this movie... avoid at all cost...
