Nimona

Amid scattershot pop culture references, flying cars and squads of armored knights with laser-guided crossbows, Nimona makes a cry for acceptance that has mythic resonance.

It’s a beautifully animated film that never loses sight of its goals as it seamlessly blends goofy humor and action, an imaginative setting, and powerful emotional moments to produce a memorable and highly relevant family film.

What makes Nimona so refreshing is that it doesn’t just plunk these characters onscreen as a contribution to the battered cause of representation — it also has something to say about them and their respective relationships with the status quo.

It’s a rambunctious adventure, certainly. But it’s also a film that argues for tolerance and LGBTQ+ acceptance.

What could have been a generic piece of standard Netflix fare in less skillful hands ends up being a nuanced story of belonging that’s slightly less cliche-ridden than you might expect.

It’s a fast and sometimes funny fantasy with an anime vibe. Jokes and sight-gags are more important than plot originality or coherence or characters that are little more than caricatures.

A few compelling emotions and themes are suggested but rarely well expressed in Nimona, a sometimes cute but mostly hyper and overextended animated sci-fi fantasy.

Honestly, one of the best movies I've ever seen & was not expecting that going into it. A sad, serious, cute story about a shapeshifter that gets deeper & deeper as the movie goes on, the story is amazing, main characters are loveable & a neat twist with medieval mixed with modern technology civilization. A must watch for anyone!

However, it's important to note that Nimona is by no means a poorly crafted film. Far from it, but it often falls short when it comes to exploring the details. The film's ambitious nature occasionally hinders its progress as it attempts to tackle too much. Nevertheless, it counterbalances some of these issues by crafting characters that resonate with the audience. Additionally, when the story demands to get exciting, then it does effectively. Although Nimona ultimately lacks a coherent and consistent identity, it adapts to meet its intended objectives and understands the landscape in which it operates. While it may not create a deep and lasting impact, especially in the streaming arena, Nimona does manage to provide entertainment, albeit within reasonable expectations.

Has good heart but pretty scattered thematically. The animation is solid for the most part but not extremely detailed.

Такс, краткий обзор мульта. Если честно то довольно посредственно. И так первое - повестка. Это ж все таки Нетфликс, поэтому как без нее. Главый герой Баллистер голубец и весь мульт пытается достучаться до своего возлюбленного. Но по крайней мере он хоть не страдает фигней рассказывая как ему тяжело, что он голубец, как его все не понимают, как все смотрят на него свысока и какой он несчастный. Мульт без подобного нытья, так что вполне терпимо. Баллистер - голубец, но ведет себя так как полагается парню и рыцарю. Второе - сюжет. Непритязательно и слишком быстро. События летят настолько стремительно, что порой, кажется, что история раньше подавалась в формате мультсериала, но потом ее попросту сократили до полнометражки. Третье - логика. Ее в происходящем попросту нет. Люди заперли себя в огромном городе за гигантской стеной считая, что снаружи монстры и за 1000 лет никто так и не удосужился проверить так это или нет. Более того их мир технологически более развит нашего. С дронами, летательными аппаратами и прочим. Но никто не пожелал посмотреть, а что там за стеной? Нет понятно, что все это иносказание и философские наставления, но если блин если просто смотреть и не задумываться над подобными вещами, то все выглядит невероятно глупо и кринжово. И в четвертых. Самая главная проблема мульта - ничего нового. Да, да именно ничего нового. Какой-то гений маркетинга создавая трейлеры не придумал ничего более гениального чем попросту разрезать мульт на куски. Иными словами практически 90% мульта уже показали нам в трейлерах. Не показанными остались только несколько сцен, а именно завязка истории, поход в метро, небольшая подстава и финал. Если перематывать, все что показывали в трейлерах, то от 146, останется где минут 30-35.

Nimona was over the top, to the point of being ridiculous. The film had weak characters, and an even weaker script, with plenty of annoying lines. The Big Hero 6/Monster’s University writer (Robert L. Baird) should have produced something MUCH better than this.
