Watching the show brings you into their family. As a single dad raising two kids it’s help me appreciate that bad times come along with the good times and there is loneliness and heartache along with love. Writing is great in that this been very little time on Sam’s love life which would make it easy to add episodes about her breaking up and making a relationships but instead the focus is on Sam’s relationship with her kids and it goes deep.
This has all the hallmarks of a big-budget Netflix series (in a good way), along with clever storytelling. Production values are top-notch. Music blends in seamlessly and sets great mood. Rudd hits all the right notes. And the thing that stands out the most is the layered storytelling, which switches viewpoints from each version of Miles/Rudd, then joins up at points of climax. Must watch, and let's keep our fingers crossed for a season 2.
