This will go down as an underrated character study if you get lost in the mystery. There was a few miss opportunities--for exampe, the abusive relationship going on upstairs from Dory and her boyfriend. They could have explore that dynamic with more seriousness--it was introduced brilliantly in the scene where they debated doing something but the rest of the series, it become clear that that was no an important issue to address for them. So why bring it up? There also were conversations that did not feel natural which threw the mood off balance. The best part of the show however is the lead actress, along with the whole cast was great. There was a natural feel overall to the story, very good pace, a plot worth following and unforced comedy. I watch the whole thing in a night.

Yeah, ok, you may recognize much of these trends. French women, college kids arguing over big ****. But if something os done with skill, the object cannot be the objections. In other words, one can make great art about anything, even something that has been done before. With all that being said, there is still something distinctive about this series--Noah as a character is still off beat, uncomfortablely so, the tone is still rich, searching. There is still real human drama--overall, it still seem like a show searching for and trying to say something, even if it is unclear what that is. Still one of the better television experience

There are parts of the writing thats a little too sentimental at times, and the characters can be a little on dimensions--some, not all. But theres allot of potential there. Moments that are absolutely jaw dropping: spoiler alert, like the moment in the bathtub and the shootout in little Haiti where one of the main cast just went into supersayan. The series tries to be a complex character drama, an action thrillers, beautiful shot, and completely engrossing, and at times it does this and other times it falls flat. Its not often great but its often good, sometimes dry and cringe worthy and a few times absolutely great. It would be a shame to see this show get cancelled. I think the creator and his writers are starting to find thier footing. The acting is all in from virtually everyone

I have not seen a show improve so dramatically from season one to season 3. Season one LOOKED beautiful but it was kinda soapy--well not kinda, allot soapy. Season two got better because of a richer cast and now in season three. Especially that last 5 outings or so was top class...equal to anything on TV this year.

The long term plotting--hell, the writing overall is the ultimate letdown in this series. There are aspects that will have you rolling your eyes. Fat that could have been cut out. The actors did the best they could with what they were given--down to every man it seemed. Yet, the show stopper was Jodie Comer. If there is any reason to watch this series, she is it. The direction was clean throughout. Unfocused--would be my only biggest problem. It tries to go in too many directions.

Wow. That is all I can say after such a confident pilot. Near the closing of the episode, everyone (director, writer, and actors) seem to be peaking. The beginning was a little of rushed, it seemed like a show trying to be strange when it does not need to be. The long term plotting and the focus of the writing are my only concern. What is going to be more important; the characters or the whodunit aspect of the show. The overall story seems so familiar that the only way this work is if we (the audience) become deeply invested in or interested in these characters outside of the "they might be the murderer angle." These characters must be fully unique--not cookie cutler. For this to happen, it must be the focus of those running to show if this is not going to be another guilty fun catch the murder for this TV series can be special. I'm definitively staying a while.

“The Drone Queen” was the best television episode since the season finales of GTO and The Americans. The scene where Carrie is in the back seat as Quinn drives away from “the predicament” they were up to Carrie (blood on face mirror scene) shows why Homeland is still one of the best shows on TV and why it can still be better than Season 1 (aka the peak of American television). Not only is the scene visually break taking but acting and the inner drama it just unlike anything anywhere on television. The only problem with Homeland, and has been a problem since the beginning is that political plots that are not based on actual or historical events (The Americans) must be airtight. Plot holes are all over television, but in political/military drama they are far more glaring because although it’s only fiction, it seems, to the viewer, like much is at stake. “Trylon and Perisphere” was one of the worst, if not the worst in the series. The shameful part is that the scenes with Carrie and her baby were very effective, very good. It showed just how much of a monster Carrie is become. She was always a little off, but now she is turning into a cold-blood killer (contrast this Carrie with the Carrie that was heartbroken after losing one of her agents in the early part of season 1). However, the plot in which they used to get Carrie and her daughter together was absolutely stupid. The inner drama of the characters is there. It is smart. The other drama is sloppy, unbelievable. So here’s where we are. Homeland must, must downside its political scale if it wants to return to and surpass its form. 8/10 because Carrie single handing saves this show, along with the pure beauty of the picture, and hides the plot hoes, but I am not sure she can “Carrie” the show through an entire season.

Season two had it great moments, but I am really glad that Will was killed off. I never really been able to care too much about his character. Maybe it was the over acting or maybe it was the writing, but I found him very boring, especially this season. Still one of the best shows on T.V. and I'm looking forward to season 3. This show works best when the evil mastermind is interacting with "regular people." Also it could benefit from more philosophical dialogue i.e. True Detective.

This season suffers the same faith that season one did. In fact, season one was far more entertaining. This season was just dry. It is not very difficult to get into the minds of these characters but they are just not very interesting people (most of them). It does have its moments. John Slattery makes this show. The entire idea is great and the show looks great but **** is just not very interesting a man.

This comment might be influenced by the fact that I live 3 brothers. This is a great show, and one of my favorites...However, I hate the Hungarian Queen as a character. I find her and her story, boring and unrealistic. I say that my views maybe influence by the fact that I have three brothers. I do not know what it feels like to be ****, or be a women and be ****, and imagine it is far from pleasant. The queen brother was a stupid human being, I understand that also. However, I stop rooting for her when she let her brother be killed, and killed in the manner that he was. This was back in season one btw. Furthermore, the man the killed her brother is the man that her brother assigned to **** her, thus, he decommitted herself from her evil brother, and committed herself to the rapist and his people. The writers did their best the paint her brother as a evil man and paint her as the poor sister that we should root for (I also have two sisters). I understand the story. However, even if one of my brothers tried to kill me, and something of the such has happen (ask anybody with sibling you know), I still couldn't let someone hurt them in that way. Of course, these are my subjective, personal feelings toward the situation. Now, I will try to be objective and explain why her story, especially after season one is boring, and unrealistic. My main point will be that she is too powerful, and she became too powerful to quickly. No prior leadership or military skills, at the end of season three she is leading the most dangerous army with no conceivable opponents--this makes her boring. Nobody in G.O.T. has this much power; so much so that they lack fear or are untouchable. If you haven't finish season 3 stop reading if you are. Think of all the people that have died in this series, and the dangers that all the characters partake in every episode, be it military or political dangers. All of the Queen adventures are pointless because they are all the same. She goes around liberating people with her powerful army, and all of her opponents are completely stupid or weak. Even if you root for her, it is hard cannot remember that last time she was in real dangers. If she was, her sexiness, her dragons, or her army will save her. Her philosophy also makes no sense. If she would just right out and say "I'm a cold blooded military mastermind" I will be happy, but she has to stop all this "mother" and "righteous" shyte. All she is doing is going around invading people's home. Those soldiers behind her are as much slaves to her as they were to their masters in whatever city they came from. Just because you do not have a chain around your neck does not mean you are not a slave. Those soldiers are skilled enough to raid country sides and live any type of life they want. Even create their own army one day. Why would you just up and follow this women into war---you don't know the enemy, and you don't know her. Maybe I'm think too deep into it lol. At one point she ordered the murdered of all the "masters" but commanded them not to kill the children. Of course because he is "The mother." However, it is likely that she has murdered the mother and fathers of many of the children, burned their homes, and left them in the desert (only the army followed her that this point). This one fall on the writers. Why don't paint her as another powerful player in a war, why all this righteous mother crap. Lastly, the actress is not very good. Again, this may just be the fact that I do not like her. I love many characters in the show. This is not a sexist thing, for I know she has been framed as the "hero of FEMINISM." My favorite TV character is Carrie from homeland. My favorite GOT character is Ned Stark's youngest daughter, name escapes me (she is going to be a cold-blooded killer one day). She's been through more shyt than the Queen. In any case, This is a great show, but The Queen seems boring to me.

This review is directed towards Emily Nussbaum. These are my counterarguments; I realize she probably will never read this, I just had to respond. 1. Her biggest problem of this show as that it represented two macho cops bending the rules and getting results. She see this as typical. I will love to know her reception of Claire in homeland, and the main character in Zero Dark thirty. Why is it when there are a character that is passionate and aggressive, he is considered macho but then it is a female it is considered heroic, or daring. I love homeland by the way, and Zero Dark Thirty was awesome. I enjoy great female characters, but it is really bothersome to see critics love strong female characters like Claire but view Rush and Marty as mucho. Obviously her review has had great influence because this type of talk is all over. Every male is not a claim, cool Saul from homeland; there are effective people like Rush and Marty, and these people are as interesting are females character like Claire. That Macho criticism is weak, and it needs stop. 2. "Dorm talk," is what Nussbaum refers to Rush philosophically arguments and rants as. Obviously, this macho cop has nothing sustainable to say about how he views the world because he is just a macho hot head. Rush philosophy is representative of how many people feel about the world. Also, people engage in conversation of such in everyday life; it is not all about going to work and coming home for everyone in the world. It is interesting (sorry about so many Homeland references, but it is my favorite show) to see people like Carrie, who are almost robotic in their professional pursuits. Carrie rarely engage in political debate about the American government, and when she does, it is brief because Carrie knows who she is. Rush is still trying to sort through many philosophical problem himself, so to him he is not just "dorm talking," he is addressing issue in his life. Plus, Rush is the only person like that in the show, everybody else is earthly--the good and the bad. Nussbaum does not want to respect or even listen to Rush's philosophy because she does not respect the character, and judges him as a macho hothead. 3. Nussbaum best argument is that the show is missing strong women characters. I would argue that Marty wife, as a character, makes more sense than the Hungarian Queen in Game of Thrones but that is an argument for another day. I accept Nussbaum's claim that there are know strong women characters in True Detective and I will go on to say, there are no strong supporting characters in True Detective at all. This not Game of thrones (which is a great show). True Detective spends more time on the two lead characters than any other show on TV, including Homeland season one. We know the other characters through Marty and Rush, and only through them. This is an intensive character study because we will never see these guys again, and the show is about their relationship, first and foremost. The Villain is not even a strong Character. To pull of a show like this, you need wonderful two wonderful actors, and strong character development, and you have it here. Yes, on a show like Game of Thrones, there are many people to keep track of and many ambitious minds to try to understand, but there are no two characters in Game of Thrones, or any other show this year that are more fun to track than Rush and Marty. This was the highlight of television in 2014 so far. Can't wait to see the end of Hannibal, Nashville, and the Americans. Lastly, Walter White can kill children, and people can cut heads and hands off but a naked human being is too racy, please stop with that criticism.

Although it is understandable that some people may be thrown off by the violence in this series, it is very easy to miss the great dialogue (emotionally engaging and intellectually stimulating) and the beautiful artwork. This is a much see TV series. My only objection is that the lead, Huge Dancy, tends to overplay his role a little. Mikkelsen is outstanding.
