As the Zentraedi attack moves to its ground advance phase, Rick struggles to survive with Minmei in a fighting vehicle frustratingly alien to him.

To outmaneuver their enemy, the SDF-1 crew use the ship's untested hyperspace fold system, only for it to go near-disastrously awry.

Trapped in the bowels of the SDF-1, Rick and Minmei struggle to survive as they face certain starvation.

While Roy attempts to convince Rick to enlist, the crew of SDF-1 is forced to spectacularly improvise to ward off an attack.

Flush with their ship's new capabilities, Captain Gloval decides to take the offensive.

The SDF-1 lands on the abandoned base on Mars for resupply, unaware that the Zentraedi have arrived and have prepared a trap.

On Minmei's birthday, the newly decorated and promoted Rick Hunter finds himself too occupied adjusting to his new squadron under his command to celebrate it with her.

Rick is ordered to go on patrol, but can't resist watching Minmei in a beauty contest only to find a Zentraedi scout crew who are completely flummoxed by the spectacle themselves.

When the SDF-1's radar is disabled, Commander Hayes goes on a survey mission, and the Zentraedi are waiting for her ship.

While Lisa, Rick and Ben are interrogated with strange results for both sides, Max sneaks on board to rescue his comrades.

As the human prisoners attempt to escape, more secrets of the Zentraedi are discovered.

Upon hearing Lt. Hayes' report, Capt. Gloval decides the ship must return to Earth, while Zentraedi spies are having difficulty infiltrating Macross' incomprehensible civilian society,

As Macross City goes up in arms at being denied disembarkment, Kyle Minmei makes a considerable impact both in the city and with Lisa Hayes.

In a coma in sickbay, Rick has his latent anxieties given life in troubling dreams.

The supreme ace of the Zentraedi fleet accepts a challenge by Khyron to find and duel her counterpart of the Micronian forces.

Gloval's attempt to disembark the ship's civilian population is interrupted by Khyron's attack with disastrous results.

After the disaster in Ontario, the SDF-1 is ordered to launch into space as a practical exile. The three Zentraedi spies return and report, sparking curiosity about Micronian mores and music, Minmei in particular.

Temporarily isolated together after the ship goes into battle mode, Rick and Lisa have an increasingly friendly and revealing conversation.

Commander Breetai outwits the SDF-1 crew and his forces board the ship.

RDF troopers go on a mission with Breetai to capture a Zentraedi factory station, and Max and Miriya's infant daughter is the key to the operation.

As the Zentraedi's past is revealed to RDF command, Kyle Minmei's resistance to a military guard of the last resizing chamber backfires disastrously.

Lisa's final visit to Rick before leaving on a space mission under her command becomes unexpectedly dramatic thanks to both Minmei and Khyron.
