From the casting to the writing to the production design, we get the adaptation of The Lightning Thief that we have been wanting for over a decade to see, and there is nowhere to go but up.

More than worthy of its source material and the massive mythology behind it.

Season two has improved the show a lot, with better acting, writing, effects, and humour.

I don't understand why Hulu is so terrible at letting me know when new series have new episodes but I just recently stumbled upon episode 2 and I absolutely love it! I can't wait until December for season 2. The cast as well put together and are actually good- which is not always the case these days.

Four episodes in, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is a satisfying improvement over an already rock-solid Season 1. The characters are more engaging, the action set pieces happen on a much grander scale, and the stakes feel higher than ever before.

What's Alan Watching?
Percy Jackson Season One was a vast improvement on the films, while also dealing with struggles of its own. Season Two begins in roughly the same place, but shows enough growth as it moves along to give me some optimism that Riordan and everyone else are starting to figure out how to translate what's worked so well in print to the small screen.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians gets off to a fun and well-paced start, but it's a rather generic example of the coming-of-age fantasy formula.

It does sometimes lack the depth and complexity of the novels, it’s true, and Greek mythology nerds might hanker for a bit more intricacy. But it captures the magic, which is the essential.

The plot points, at least based on the four episodes made available to press for review, map neatly onto the novel. Largely missing from this new adaptation, though, are Percy’s whip-smart, sassy narrative voice, the coherent world-building of the novels, and, most importantly, Riordan’s quicksilver pacing.

I want to give this a seven, but the run-time just didn't allow for any truly cohesive pacing. I do think the series has a good amount of potential as the actors mature and hopefully the scriptwriters resist the urge to use them as exposition devices.

The series was one of the most anticipated of the year due to the significance of adapting the Percy Jackson universe, a task that was not addressed in the previous two films. In addition to a substantial investment, Disney chose to involve Rick Riordan, author of the books, in preparing the script and selecting the main cast. However, my assessment of the series lies more in its fidelity to the original work than in the narrative itself.Unfortunately, the series fails to maintain a consistent pace and prove to be somewhat cohesive, which is satisfactory considering the attempt to condense 22 chapters into just 8 30-minute episodes. Although the screenwriters tried to compensate for the narrative gaps by faithfully following the books, this did not prove to be enough. The main obstacles of 'Percy Jackson' lie in its narrative arcs, which may seem somewhat confusing to those who have not read the books, due to the approach chosen to adapt the first book. However, not all is lost. I believe that, with an extension of the duration of its episodes and more careful pre- and post-production - including real sets and greater dedication to visual effects - the series has the potential to become one of the most outstanding today, as it already has fundamental elements : a charismatic cast, the full participation of the original author and a loyal and open fan base. The second season shows great promise and is imperative, as long as it is carried out competently.

Cons: This show is incredibly boring. I don't even know how it's possible for a fantasy series to be boring, but somehow it was. Now, I have never read the books, but that shouldn't matter. I did not read the books prior to watching Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Twilight, or the Hunger Games, and those are some of my favorite movies of all time. A show based on a book series should make me want to read the books. However, this show made me take the Percy Jackson series off my reading list cuz it was so boring. Now, you can also make the excuse "oh, but it's just a kid's show; it's not that deep." Um, I don't even see how kids can watch this show and actually like it. I feel like if I watched this show when I was younger, it would have put me to sleep. And I actually like kids' shows and movies. I think Spy Kids and Ninjago are masterpieces. I can't wait to show my future kids those shows one day. You know which show I will not be showing my future kids? Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Also, none of the Olympic gods in this show were interesting at all. None of them had any presence or aura or felt threatening at all. They all felt so bland, bored, and dull. In fact, those 3 words can be used to describe this entire show. Every time a character spoke in this show they were dropping exposition. It got to the point where I felt like the only way to understand who anybody was talking about was by reading the books or learning about Greek mythology. This show really needs to learn how to show and not tell. This series also has an uninspired and forgettable soundtrack. If you put on the soundtrack for say Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, I would instantly be able to tell you which franchise the songs are from. However, if you put on the theme from this show, I would not be able to remember it at all. Really the only scenes that were good or made me feel any emotions were the scenes with the monsters or Percy's mother. Also, for a fantasy series, there was a severe lack of action. Most of the show is just the characters standing in place with no emotions on their faces talking about confusing backstory like it's common knowledge. Pros: There's nothing good to say about this show.

I have viewed the (2) Episode Premire and have concluded the intent to undo the betrayal of the movies to the source material is a major fail. The author of the books has stated they were against the casting of adults to play the child characters of the books. Now you have the opportunity to have more say in the series and you cast the children yet still do what the movies did and play to the hollywood template of drama and basic character stupidity. I am not watching a reimagine book, I am watching the same story told with children and different adult actors. These TV Series are no more challenging than attempting to walk blindfolded.
