It’s evident that there’s life left in the story world after this iteration of the tale. With every factor coming together, Invasion has never been better in Season 3.

“Invasion,” a new series that concerns a sudden alien invasion but is much more about the people, is a refreshing and often thrilling juggling of plot-threads that involve incredibly flawed or hurtful decisions made in the name of survival.

“Invasion” is one of those shows that doesn’t rush anything, and that’s exactly why it works. It keeps you in that strange place between calm and panic, where something huge is happening but no one—neither the characters nor you—fully understands it yet. That feeling, that slow burn, is what hooked me from the start.Apple TV has a particular way of handling sci-fi: the sound, the colors, the silences… everything feels measured. Whether you’re watching a quiet scene inside a house or a landscape that looks ready to collapse, there’s always a visual weight pulling you in. Sometimes nothing big happens, yet you stay there, watching, because it somehow feels important.I get why some viewers lose patience with so many characters and parallel threads. I also got lost at first. But once things start clicking, the show becomes much stronger. Suddenly you understand why Aneesha, Trevante, Mitsuki and the others are where they are, and how each one is facing a completely different kind of invasion. That human layer is what makes the series stand out —this isn’t “aliens arrive, humans run.” It’s “aliens arrive and everyone is forced to face the mess they were already living in.”Season two feels more confident. Not perfect —it still drifts at times— but far more decisive. There are episodes that genuinely make you wonder what you would do in their place, and that’s always a good sign. By the third season, the show has clearly found its rhythm and trimmed what wasn’t working.Sometimes I wanted more action; other times I was grateful for the quieter moments. That mix ends up being part of the show’s charm: you never know if you’re about to see something huge or if you’ll be left sitting with a small, unsettling moment that sticks with you longer than any ****’s not a series for everyone, but if it grabs you… it stays with you.

A show that follows a whole range of themes. For once not the usual suspense, with a lot of good ideas about what can go wrong and how people "work". Actually more of a drama series with sci-fi elements.

It’s good enough to stay with, that’s for sure. It does feel like, though, that the aliens are going to be beside the point in this show, kind of like the zombies became after the first season of The Walking Dead. And we’re not sure we want to see yet another series where other people are way worse than the unknown enemy that’s invading our world.

There is, you’ll have gathered, a lot of story here. It should also be pointed out that a lot of it is very good. ... The problem is that bigness again. In a bid to tell a sweeping story for all mankind (to borrow another strong Apple TV+ title), Invasion takes hours, literally, to get to the invasion.

There are precious few pieces of “Invasion” that don’t feel like they’re already riffing on pre-established genre ideas. It’s that all of these storylines, when added together, make up a whole that’s almost completely devoid of any emotional anchor.

As “Invasion” hops from storyline to storyline to yet another storyline, its blunt dialogue and characterizations fail to make any of its disparate threads as immediately compelling as its scattered narrative needs to stay afloat.

"Invasion" proceeds so incrementally across such a wide range of characters and their responses to extraterrestrial terrorism that you might well lose your way from week to week. Never mind your interest. ... Trevante's behavior is typical of both the writing and direction here, as he fumes, spewing vulgarities no one can hear, abusing the goat herder who treats his wounds and speaking English louder and louder, as if that would help.

The problem with Invasion is that it doesn’t tell its viewers that the “invasion” is just a vehicle for a number of dramatic, albeit cliche, scenarios to play within. Some may say that that it’s terrible that a show about an alien invasion would have so much familial drama intertwined, however, I just call it unique. I’m not going to say I would or wouldn’t prefer if it wasn’t just your typical invasion story. If all you want it an alien show, this is not the show for you. There are way too many elements in here to scratch that itch for alien content. Another potential turn-off for some could be that the story-telling isn’t so much linear as it can be jarring from time to time, jumping from one of several concurrent storylines to another. What happens on-screen isn’t so complex that each little story is hard to follow, you may just find yourself more invested in one of the stories and be left on a mini cliffhanger until the end of the current episode or the next episode. It can be grating at times, but as a person who has been watching Degrassi since the age of eleven or so, I’m not only used to this type of storytelling, I like it. So, in the end, I don’t think it’s difficult to like this show; you just have to be open to ingesting more drama than you’re probably used to, given the title of the show. Happy watching!

Series 1: A slow burner, but with some really quite excellent moments. I liked how subtle and insidious the invasion is. Some of the acting is great, in particular Shamier Anderson and Shioli Kutsuna, both of whom dragged me in with their performances, and made me care. There are however less impressive performances, from Golshifteh Farahani and her family, and from several of the kids. That said, I loved the Afghanistan pieces, and the alien experiences there, and I generally enjoyed watching the CGI in London. I'd definitely watch it again. 8/10
Series 2: a real mixed bag of performances, and clearly it's written by different people, as the development of the show is all over the place. Sometimes it's excellent and exciting, at other times it's a kids story akin to Doctor Who - just bizarre - almost as if the writers and directors are working in isolation from each other. This is a real shame as the first series was far better. low 5/10.

This is the slowest show on TV, I respect the character development but they are quite one dimensional so you lose interest, some scenes are somewhat unbelievable too, kids free climbing etc. The story can be entertaining but it feels a bit drawn out and predictable

Dragged out sentimental 'dramatic' accents destroy what might have been a decent TV show. Every episode has about 20 to 40% filler unnecessarily dragged out content that makes it boring and destroys any resemblance of story beats moving the narrative forward... Nice production and acting that could have been much much much better.

These people are so stupid I was rooting for the aliens. PS: if you're hiding in an attic from aliens, stop talking.
