While Free Bert could be funnier, we do appreciate that Kreischer and his co-creators took a chance and made his show about something rather than just an extension of his comedy persona.

Although Free Bert is successful on some level, telling a neatly arced story over six half-hour episodes that resolve in a way I found strangely satisfying (still setting up a possible season two), it’s not especially funny.

Surprisingly very good. I'm not a fan of Bert's stand up comedy, but he's a great story teller on podcasts. Show leaves you wanting more after each **** of the best dark comedies ive seen in awhile. Hoping for a season 2.

I wasn’t familiar with Bert Kreischer’s stand up, but he’s a popular comic, who always performs with his shirt off. He stars as a version of himself, as father of 2 daughters (Ava Ryan & Lilou Lang), who were just accepted at a snooty private Beverly Hills school. The comedy revolves around his attempts to adjust his approach (and look) to help them fit in. The results are sometimes amusing with lots of loud bluster that doesn’t land. The most hilarious aspect of the show is Lang, as the youngest daughter with a crass attitude and mouth to match. As his wife, Arden Myrin also manages to provide some awkward humor. Otherwise, it romps along with plenty of energy, as it skewers the pretentiousness of those around them. Not especially funny and broader than I like, but it's occasionally entertaining.
