AMC's best current show? Not even close. By a big stretch, it's the "Breaking Bad" spinoff (and prequel series) Better Call Saul, which launches its third season in grand style. ... It feels like some kind of brilliant first cousin.

Given that Breaking Bad is a masterpiece, being its prequel is a very difficult and demanding task. There are very high expectations. And yet, I'm glad to say Better Call Saul manages to be a very worthy prequel. Interesting, well-written story and very solid performance from the actors. If you liked Breaking Bad, you'll like Better Call Saul.

Regardless of where we are in this strange voyage, it’s obvious that Gilligan and Gould are accelerating Jimmy toward his grimmer future. The third season opens with a heavier atmosphere leaning more into the drama of the tale, so much that one may forget that it was originally conceived as a half-hour sitcom.

The dots that link the events of Better Call Saul to Breaking Bad are slowly but surely being joined, and we can rest assured after another excellent start to the season that the journey will provide plenty to be excited about.

It’s definitely a slow-burn start to season three, but aspects of episode two suggest viewer patience will be rewarded--eventually.

Odenkirk is flat-out terrific at times, but the show hasn’t kicked into gear for me. On “Bad,” Bryan Cranston’s Walter White was in a desperate situation that unleashed his inner monster and diabolical genius. Meanwhile, the occasionally dense Saul is meandering toward his sugar-rush exile in Omaha.

Better Call Saul is in the running for 'Best Show on TV' after this season in my opinion. The conclusion to this season is a great one and has left the floor open for season 4 to deal with the repercussions. I can't wait for the next installment of this amazing spin-off to the greatest TV show to ever grace the small screen.

After the first three episodes in the third season I am starting to think i've been tricked and am wasting/have wasted my time. There is nothing going on in this show. The series just isn't delivering what they should. Making me think "hmmm" once at the end of some episodes isn't good enough. If this show wasn't a spin-off from Breaking Bad people would rate it significantly lower. I don't think this will reach the level of it bigger brother.

5 Episodes into Season 3 and the most exciting part is Mike pretending to use a power tool. Show is a mess as well, and clearly just fan fodder for drooling Breaking Bad fans who want more 'content'. The TV show also makes no sense in many scenes. 1) Sauls brother is in love with some butch chick who clearly likes him, and he's like 75 years old and is still afraid of revealing he has battery/electric phobia? It just doesn't add up. Plus since tons of other coworkers and characters seem to know about it, she'd definitely of heard something. Also, the cell phone scene with that woman makes no sense. They are enjoying a candlelite dinner and all of a sudden she thinks it's appropriate to have a 10 minute phonecall while literally walking around another persons kitchen? Even a stupid person would take the call outside. The show is just overall tone deaf, lacks any real excitement, zero character development at all. I remember turning on season 1 and Saul was submissive to his brother and then I turn on season 3 and it's literally the same page in the same book. Just buy one of those cup with a ball on a string things. Same development as the show with maybe a little bit of stimulation.

Show is extremely slow and the characters are not interesting. I've given up. Breaking Bad was great but this is far from great and is actually painful to watch.
