The Florist

The opening ten minutes of The Florist had real promise. Seeing Dennis Quaid and Jean Reno together as a quiet florist-by-day, assassin-by-night pairing immediately raised hopes for a solid Léon-style thriller. That early setup works, and the two leads share an easy, lived-in chemistry. Unfortunately, the film never builds on it. The screenplay and direction stay stubbornly flat, turning what could have been a sharp, tense story into a predictable and often dull ride. Quaid and Reno both feel like they're operating on autopilot rather than fully committing, which drains energy from scenes that needed more edge. By the midpoint the movie has settled into a sleepy, by-the-numbers groove that rarely surprises or engages. There are glimpses of a better film in those first moments, but the rest never catches up. 5/10: A missed opportunity that starts with potential and then quietly fizzles.
