Long Shot is a love story for underdogs, whether they're gifted but out-there wackos or glamorous glass-ceiling breakers. It's unsurprising that this raunchy dark horse could charm anyone to hit the polls.

I kept waiting for "Long Shot" to drop the ball, but it never did. Fun movie with lots of laughs. This might be the only time I enjoyed Seth Rogan in a movie, and he was terrific. I give it an A, make a point to go see this movie.

As usual, Levine rounds out his supporting cast with a suspiciously stacked roster of comic actors – Randall Park, June Diane Raphael, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Bob Odenkirk, and Andy Serkis, the latter taking his love of heavy makeup a bit too far this time – and keeps the story moving with a breezy briskness that should be studied by any aspiring rom-com director.

Long Shot, a production that’s as much a fantasy in the political realm as in the romantic one, is a pleasant trifle that leaves behind a warm fuzzy feeling, which is all one can realistically ask of movie of this sort.

Just in case we don’t register the mismatch, Rogen is outfitted to look especially shlubby, and he sports an unbecoming beard that never comes off. With his crack timing, he still manages to get a few laughs, but he would have gotten a whole lot more if the jokes were any good. Theron, meantime, is photographed in full glamour mode throughout. This is probably just as well, since, as an actress, she doesn’t appear to have a comic bone in her body. Therein lies the true mismatch in this coupling.

Had some genuinely sweet moments, but Seth Rogan's character has some real problems. From his childlike dress to his caricature of the woke soy-boy, his character can be hard to watch. If you are like me and want to avoid politics in your entertainment, you may want to watch something else.

Meu repertorio no gênero é fraco, mas até então devo dizer que me pareceu diferente. Objetivamente, nem tanto. Mas como uma candidata a presidência... Os personagens sã o bem desenvolvidos, e a justificativa para as dificuldades do mesmo e até o motivo pelo qual eles se conhecem melhor me pareceram bem convincentes. O cast tá muito bem, como de costume, com destaque aos protagonistas que tiveram uma química interessante. O timing cômico é bom, dando certo em vários momentos, e não deixando a "vergonha alheia no ar" quando não colava. Algumas posições politicas não me desceram, soando fora da realidade até pra essa obra, mas não me geraram um incomodo grande. Audio: English, with subtitles. Q60T TV Speakers
