La Nouvelle Ève

A beautiful film that flows with a luminous ease and assurance.

But most of the movie's notes are appallingly right.

Viard plays one of the most intriguing female characters in recent film from either side of the Atlantic.

Effective portrait of an independent woman with a troubled and unstable sense of herself.

Things stay standard-issue French self-analytical from here.

Corsini's insight into the psyche of this contemporary woman doesn't have much of a point because it tells us nothing new.

Camille's desperate, destructive antics just don't seem especially cute or funny.
