Douchebag

It's a minimalist "Sideways," not so much mumblecore as talkycore.

Mostly, Doremus' movie rings true, as some truly jerky behavior ensues.

A clever DIY comedy that could be this year's "Humpday" for art house audiences in search of characters they recognize from their own lives.

At 70 minutes, Douchebag feels both rushed and way too slack, but the bigger problem is that the kind of characters and humor this movie traffics in can be found in a more compact, amusing package on the average FX show.

In its rushed, implausible moment of reckoning, Douchebag ends up validating the frat-boy credo: Bros before hos.

A black comedy lacking somewhat in both blackness and comedy-isn't a bad film, exactly, but it is undistinguished, in the sense that its ideas and emotional payloads are both safe and small.

The title may be mildly provocative in its vulgarity, but the most striking feature of this movie is its dullness.
