Description: On the brink of the First World War, fifteen-year-old Anka is sent from her Slovakian village to work as a maid in a wealthy Prague household. Once there, the insecure newcomer is charged with looking after Resi, the family’s difficult daughter. As war shatters the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the two women find solace in each other amid a world ruled by patriarchy and conflict, forging an intimate bond simmering with love and desire which transcends the two women’s class divide.
