Led by a fantastic Michael Keaton, Birdman is a deeply thoughtful and darkly hilarious meta dissection of egotism that satirizes the entertainment business with a compelling visual style that is all its own.

Michael Keaton delivers a performance of a lifetime. Spectacular sequences give space for Keaton to give you humor, anger, and heartbreak, all in a perfectly filmed and uncut shot - frequently. His supporting cast (Edward Norton, Zach Galifianakis, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts) shine in their own right. Directed and filmed to perfection with a score so simple yet ridiculously engaging, this film captivates you beginning to end.

This pitch-dark comedy, which was directed, con brio, by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, sizzles as the camera circles, stalks and swoops. Emmanuel Lubezki’s friction-free cinematography constitutes a virtuoso turn in its own right in a production that’s strewn with superb performances, some of them loud and bold, others subtle and restrained.

Birdman is a scalpel-sharp dissection of Hollywood, Broadway, and fame in the 21st century. But more than that, it's a testament to Keaton's enduring charisma and power as an actor. He soars.

Birdman takes advantage of every facet of Keaton’s talent, from his knack for absurdist comedy to his seemingly effortless ability to tap into graceful profundity without making a big show of it.

The movie is punctuated by comedy that at times verges on slapstick but there's an underlying anger in evidence - anger at the popular mindset that allows movies like "Transformers" to flourish while artistic endeavors fail.

An unrecognizable Michael Keaton seems to have aged 40 years since the last time he appeared on the screen, but he’s still the best (i.e., only) reason to suffer through a miserable load of deranged, deluded crap masquerading as a black comedy called Birdman.

Birdman or the unexpected power of ego. Beautiful writing, gorgeous cinematography, great directing means a truly amazing piece of a film. On the surface level, this movie is about a fallen movie star trying to be a Broadway actor, who is much more than a superhero. Riggan is an amazing character based on the actor that play him, which is a genious idea. Birdman is his consciousness, which is mostly fueled by his ego, but sometimes his anxiety or self-consciousness. The supporting characters are also amazing and very well-written, my favourite being Jake. This film has unbelievably great cinematography, with many longshots, tracking shots and closeups. I could feel the outstanding directings' impact everywhere in this film. The writing is utterly complex and complete at the same time. The acting performances are all great. Michael Keaton is the lead and he amazing as Riggan and the supporting cast is amazing too, especially Edward Norton. Some of the character writing was weird to me here and there, but it's still a nearly perfect film. Birman or (the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorence) is peak storytelling with peak cinematography and directing.

"Birdman" is an interesting experiment in filmmaking that spells creativity, passion or energy but what it desperately needs is restraint, consideration, depth to its characters and more thoughtful direction. I actually think the cinematography is not the right choice for this story and this type of material. The decision to shoot this and edit all of the film into one take is just a gimmick and what's so frustrating is that in this type of movie you need at least juxtapositions between your different shots to make your closeups feel like that have some sort of importance but to just drift from a medium shot to a closeup is so claustrophobic.

A film shot by Inarritu with the obvious aim of a technical achievement and concern for prize. There is a fine point that hits you in his other films, but you can't explain it with words, it doesn't go through in the movie, it stays in you after the movie ends, you have such a sincere feeling inside you. However, all the messages are pur in the words by the characters, too obviusly. They as well seem so numb and shallow characters, as if in a glass cage, so distant. Praise yes, ok, fine. Yet there is no cinematic masterpiece here that deserves such "exaggerated" praise, because there is nothing "unique" with this movie. It would be unfair to criticize the film on technical aspects, but it should not be exaggerated either. And for those who want to see the most praised one shot" or "long take" masterpiece, here are your masterpieces Aleksandr Sokurov: Russki Kovcheg - Russian Ark (2012), or one of the later examples, Victoria (2015), directed by Sebastian Schipper.

I think most people are going to hate. I personally did not enjoy the movie. The story was quite confusing and probably I am a bit dumb to understand. I admit both Michael Keaton and Edward Norton acted extraordinary well. However, I do not understand why people like how Emma Stone acted in that particular movie. I like Emma in many movie, but in Birdman she did not play a big role and I did not see much acting from it. Overall, I do not like the movie and probably not going to watch it again.
