Wargroove 2 is not too different from its predecessor. It implements new mechanics, grooves and many new objectives to accomplish but the feelings are the same. After all, it is not a good sequel but continues to be a very good game with its gameplay mechanics and amazing animations and pixelart.

Wargroove 2 is a very safe sequel, but I can’t really disagree with that approach given how good the original game was. With a robust new story to play featuring three campaigns, an interesting new roguelite mode, and a few new features and additions here and there, this game might be preaching to the choir but it’s hitting all the points they like. I’m not sure I’d be up for a third game that follows the formula as closely as this one does, but for now I’m more than satisfied with another heaping helping of that Wargroove good stuff.

A fantastic pocket-sized turn-based strategy game that you can play almost endlessly thanks to its rich content. Wargroove 2 captivates with its beautiful design, new mechanics, and an excellent roguelite Conquest mode. While I might opt for more complex strategies on PC, it's definitely among the gems on Switch.

Modern indie games have often way too much dialog. That game suffers a lot from that. I have to skip through so much - not very interesting - dialog boxes that I start to loose interest in the game. The first one did it much better with shorter story parts. I wished games had an option where I can reduce the dialog to just get the overall story and important things. It would cut around 90 % of the dialog in that game. I played the first Wargroove several hundred hours, but I can't deal with not ending text boxes before and after every level in Wargroove 2. It feels like 90 % of the game is just skipping text boxes.

To me this game really feels like what happens when you give an incompetent kid dev privileges to make their own game. Everything about the game, especially its story and cutscenes were horrible. The fighting wasnt any good either. Just horrible mechanics overall

I LOVED Wargroove 1. Wargroove 2 is an absolute disaster in comparison. Every battle is insultingly easy and requires no strategy at all to beat. The story makes no sense and characters behave in ways that make no sense. Nothing is resolved. It's kind woke. The new game mode isn't fun. There's nothing good about it at at all.

Chucklefish builds on a rock-solid foundation, and Wargroove 2 manages to both iterate and innovate in a satisfying manner. Coupled with the smart challenge of Conquest mode’s rogue-lite offering, riveting online multiplayer, and a truly intimidating wealth of creation tools, this just might be the most impressive package of any tactics game on Switch. Hopefully, a few updates can address the very few bugs and UI issues we aren’t quite as fond of.

Wargroove 2 is a challenging love letter to strategy RPGs that have inspired decades of gaming. Brilliant aesthetics, strong sound direction, and easy to grasp but difficult to master strategic gameplay makes Wargroove 2 a game worth coming back to.

Wargroove 2 takes what was done by the first Wargroove and improves and expands it, building an epic adventure and providing fans of Japanese strategy games with quite a few hours of splendid gameplay.

A sequel isn’t always guaranteed success, but Wargroove 2 builds on its predecessor in meaningful ways that make it a must-play for veterans and newcomers to the genre. The main campaigns are meaty and challenging, the new Conquest mode has vast potential, and the map editor will see plenty of use down the road, even if the current product suffers from freezes and crashes every once in a while. Polishing an already shimmering diamond, it might not make a huge splash like the first game did, but it is still an experience that generates waves of excitement.

Besides a few new unit types and a nifty mode, Wargroove 2 is more of the same but when the core formula is this fun, that's great.
