Tour de France 2018 is the official Grand Boucle game. The title is a complex tactical simulation of cycling, with two management mode: Pro Team e Pro Leader. Unfortunately the graphic detail is poor and there isn't any interesting online mode.

Tour de France 2018 comes after a very forgettable predecessor, so its job isn’t easy. But its Pro Team mode is bigger than ever, the Pro Leader mode is compelling and its AI has improved. It still needs more polishing though.

Only those who risk taking all the air in the face can play for victory.

First things first, if you have no interest in cycling, chances are that you will not be impressed by this game. However, if you are remotely interested, this is a great game. Of course it is a niche game, but for what it is and what it wants to be I think it delivers. You have your tutorial (something people seem to value), you have different career modes, you can race multiple races and have nearly all the official names (there is an editor as well). The gameplay itself is quite straight forward. You either go all in and blow up fairly quickly or you take a more strategic approach. If you are not interested in playing a complete stage you can fast forward to any given spot on the stage profile. Something negative though, there is no real atmosphere coming up. They could have added more drama and especially a different commentator. The voice is awful. People taking the mickey here, don't bother then. It is a cycling game just like FIFA is a football (or soccer) game. No one would think of criticising FIFA for what it is because they don't like football themselves. But there we are :)

While it’s not a terrible game it just doesn’t live up to the excitement of the actual sport it’s based on. Throwing lots of content at it means there’s more to it obviously, but if the gameplay is as much fun as riding a bike with square wheels then there’s no reason to explore said content.

Tour de France 2018 looks a lot similar to its predecessor. The new game mode is not very fun, and the graphics is average. The gameplay delivers some good moments, and some audio effect are good.

The Tour de France is one of the most important cycling events in the world, but the game developed by Cyanide Studio and presented by Focus Home Interactive is not up to par. Unfortunately, the few good things are buried by the bad ones. We believe that the French team still has to deal with its own career to achieve excellence.

Take this review with a pinch of salt as I'm not a cycling nut. Tour de France 2018 is a game for very specific, patient enthusiasts. The license is used to great effect with every rider, team and stage of the marathon event covered. Unfortunately, there's a lack of visual polish and some baffling decisions that hold this game back. There's a lot to do but, as with most endurance sports, newcomers have to deal with a lot of waiting before the action really starts.

When you’re doing the same and cruising downhill through the beautiful countryside or fighting and clawing to get your wheels in front at the top of a grueling climb, Le Tour De France 2018 is enjoyable stuff. But outside of those times, it’s yet another buggy and undercooked update for a title that had fallen off the pace a few iterations ago.
