Tomba! Special Edition is definitely a great game for those who have nostalgia for the PS1 era while everyone else will certainly find its quirkiness charming and its unconventional gameplay entertaining.

Even with all these features though I still feel the price point is a bit too high. It feels like this should have been both games packed together for $30 or separately at $15, it just feels a little above its value. Still there is a lot to love here if you have nostalgia for the original games. This isn’t going to convert any newcomers to the church of Tomba, but if you grew up in the PSOne era and have good memories of this quirky platformer, this package will likely satisfy.

Tomba! Special Edition is a charming reminder of the experimental days of the PS1 era, and the cute characters and wonderful soundtrack still appeal. However, the flaws in this port and some of the game’s original issues might make it a bit tough for newcomers to fully embrace this beloved cult classic.

È un gioco molto divertente, però effettivamente per la remastered mi sarei aspettato perlomeno la risoluzione di eventuali problemi oppure anche il cambio di sprite magari per dargli un effetto di novità

if you download and play the PS1 version with the emulator is still better than this bad port

Lazy work here, basically an emulation of the same exact game we played decades ago. I also experienced a few audio bugs. +1 vote thanks to the rollback/fast save mechanics and all the drafts, images, videos and interviews with game developers available in the extra section in the main screen

Tombi! might just be the most 8/10 game ever, and absolutely no higher than that. I personally love it; but the esoteric quests, remarkably easy boss fights, and slightly wonky controls at times do make it a hard sell. However, if you want a daft and weird little curio to spend some hours in, this will keep you as happy as a pig in – well – you know. Oh, also, if you loved the demo on the demo disc, you owe it to yourself to see what’s beyond the 100 Year Old Man, believe me.

The quirky caveman Tomba stands out with his pink hair and green shorts, tackling the world with vigor and primal fury, carving through pesky pigs to get his grandfather’s bracelet back and vanquish the evil swine. The world-building is just as vibrant as our wild protagonist, and the music to accompany it will have you humming all day long. With the newly implemented rewind feature, an entire museum filled with behind-the-scenes goodies, and anytime saving and loading, this retread of a PS1 cult classic is a masterful example of video game preservation done right.

Tomba! Special Edition is a thorough remaster of a classic underappreciated title from PlayStation history that manages to stand out among a sea of other mascot platformers. A pioneering force in the popularisation of the 2.5D platformer, I enjoyed being given the chance to see where this subgenre began. While there are definitely relics of archaic PlayStation-era design, these are almost an expectation rather than a point of heavy critique. For those familiar with the antics of this cave boy, you'll feel right at home. And the bonus materials sweeten the deal too.

Tomba! is still a weird and mostly wonderful little platformer, packed with character and charm from beginning to end. Some of its more convoluted design elements can frustrate, and the backtracking's a bit of a slog at times, but the core, grab-happy gameplay remains satisfyingly fun. And, with the addition of unlimited saves and a rewind function, it's hard not to appreciate and enjoy this revived PS1 oddity.

In realtà ho giocato alla versione Psx. Simpatico platform, colorato e piacevole. Gameplay intuitivo e giusta longevità.

I loved this game as a child ~27 years ago and was super excited to see it re-released on switch. Why for the love of g** does the confirm/cancel input switch in different screens?! Absolutely frustrating experience that they could had very easily fixed in the port. Shame and lazy dev work on Limited Run Games. Fix it and I'll give you full 10 rating, but I know you wont.
SummaryEvil pigs. Man-eating plants. Hidden paths. Wacky weapons. Moving obstacles. Can you believe what Tomba has to go through to conquer the menacing swine?!
