The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

Played for 8 years, and this is my favorite game that just gets better and bigger every year. Love everything from exploring, playing alone or with friends, even crafting and housing!

I really wanted to like this game more. Especially since I'm torn between it and Neverwinter. I am a big fan of Bethesda and admire the effort they put into their games, but I think the struggled a bit with this one. For starters, it is a good MMORPG and the number of subscriptions will agree with that. The world is HUGE and there is lots to do. If you have played any of Bethesda's open world titles, you will transition very easily. This game also has some of the best dungeons I have played in since FFXIV. The enemies are a bit too predictable, but they provide a nice challenge. Everything you'd expect from a MMORPG is done here. Weapons, dungeons, lore, content, etc. Its all done very well. The combat also in line with the other Elder Scrolls games so that also made for an easy transition. While their is a bit of lag, its not inhibiting in any way and the world is beautiful and for the most part really smooth. For the bad news though, the real issue is it feels like an open world game more than an MMORPG. While the number of subscribers is high, the overall social level is pretty low. I think the lack of a chat bar really hurts this game in that regard in that you can't really tell some of the players from NPCs. When I play, I feel like I'm genuinely on my own unless I am doing something social, such as a dungeon or a group effect activity. i'd like to try to engage players, but unless they have headphones, it really doesn't work out and not every player is comfortable with headphones. Another problem as someone before mentioned, it can be really boring. If not the cut and paste fetch quests, the time it takes to get to them. One fetch quest leads to about 3 and those three lead to 3 more and so on. This wouldn't be so bad were it not for the lack of social interaction in the game because you could conquer it with other players, but that's where it starts to feel like a open world game again. I'm not much for PvP so I won't get into that. I prefer to have a comradery with my fellow players and this game left me a bit wanting in that. It really should be called Elder Scrolls IV.5: Tamriel. I'm willing to wait for the Morrowind expansion to see if there is any drastic change.

It is a good game. With many hours of gameplay. Lacks text chat, forcing you to either learn how to speak other languages in voicechat or play silent -what mostly happens-. All in all, a text chat will be released in August and even though a classless system would've been much better as in previous games of the franchise, there are lots of combinations and no armor or weapon restrictions at all. No playable necromancy is a big let down for me, as I've been a Necromancer in both Oblivion and Skyrim. But we're talking about PS4 version so I'll say excellent controls -this game was made to play with a controller clearly- and bad framerates in certain areas. I played even the Beta in the PC version and still some animations are really awful like sprinting and some spellcastings. Didn't they have enough time to rework the animations?

In 2015, The Elder Scrolls Online was highly enjoyable, with thousands of hours spent on my old PlayStation account, drawn to its rich characters, items, environments, and lore. However, it now feels absurdly outdated, repetitive, and lacks engaging new content, making an ESO 2 desperately needed given how terrible ESO is now, and how amazing and timeless an ESO 2 could potentially become.

Didn't play it long enough to max out the limited inventory size in the base game ( like F076 ). I was not impressed by the performance. It wasn't as bad as FO76 for frame rate and latency, but the frame rate was poor by today's gaming standards. After playing the Division 1/2 online and how smoothly those run well I know who knows how to optimize online games better, Ubi-soft. Visually this would of looked like a nice PS3/360 game, but for a PS4 game it looks kind of dated and ugly, The graphics and lighting looked so last gen for sure. Played TES ARPG Oblivion, Morrowind and Skyrim in that order, I'd take Oblivion hell even old Morrowind over playing another minute of TESO. The game play did not pull me in all and I didn't get that open world TES vibe. The areas I played in was just smaller zones with loading screens. Then I looked at TES plus option and the in game currency BS and I was like oh wow. I could get a Xboxlive game pass or EA play and have access to hundreds of games for the price of this one games subscriptions model and in game currency options. Which will obviously be needed to cut down the mmo style grind fest. I still play Skyrim on console and PC. I have four versions of that game. Fallout 3/4 and NV I replay a lot on console and PC. Bethesda online models for TES/Fallout are really restrictive unless you cough up beyond the base games. I picked up a preowned copy for 25% of the current PSN store price so I don't even feel burnt. Summing up TESO is just meh.
