This is perhaps the Star Trek game most faithful to its source material, as just like Star Trek: Voyager, it’s a flawed gem that I can heartily recommend experiencing, just not without caveats. Both its greatest strength and biggest weakness is that it really feels like the kind of PC game that could’ve come out during the later years of the show’s run.

Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown was a positive surprise for me. Few of the latest Star Trek games were great, but this one is very exciting to play, and it uses the sense of exploration to its benefit. It remains faithful to the source material, while also allowing you to nurture, level up characters and manage the ship to your liking. The gameplay doesn’t get stale, and exploring planets always feels very satisfying. It's also nice to see that the story has some great, unexpected twists and turns. Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown also encourages you to make different choices, and those will affect your gameplay. The combat is engaging, the ship management part of the game is rewarding, and you always feel that you’re progressing in some way. The developers are also committed to solving core issues like saving problems, so that’s a good sign. Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown is a hidden gem for sci-fi fans, and you will find yourself pouring a few dozen hours into this, as you explore planets, follow the story and embark on treacherous missions.

The Star Trek drought is finally over: Across the Unknown is a great, if not perfect, strategy game.

Overall, it’s a lot of fun for Star Trek fans or anyone looking for a sci-fi game with more intellectual depth than a straightforward space shooter.

The Voyager crew are highly motivated to return to their loved ones on Earth, and you are provided with the necessary tools to help them achieve this. While it's a long journey, it's an exciting one, filled with tension, strategic decisions and the fight for survival in the uncharted depths of space.

Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown let's dreams of Trekkies come true. Thanks to the faithful and loving adaptation of the series fans can overlook the mechanical weaknesses of the game.

Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown is a text and story-heavy trek that follows the story of Voyager as it returns from the Delta Quadrant, but allowing you to change the events of the story in a game that has impactful choices wrapped around an FTL-style survival game and copious amounts of resource management. Not a masterpiece, the sum feels like more than the whole, though I will admit my view may be clouded as a fan of Star Trek, Voyager, and the genre.

Space may be the final frontier, but this game clearly needed one more trip through QA. The combat rarely clicks, and the voice acting and animation struggle to keep pace, yet the resource management is sublime and the UI design genuinely excellent. Focus on its strategic and narrative strengths, and this Trekkie adventure might still live long and prosper in memory.

Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown has a lot to offer fans of the series, but might struggle to attract others thanks to the challenge and lack of interactivity.

GameExcite not only shows its love for Star Trek: Voyager with this game, but also its respect for it, offering an outstanding survival and exploration experience, just like the hardships the crew had to endure during its seven-year journey home. It's not a perfect game; there are elements of its interface and mechanics that could be improved, and it can make you want to tear your hair out at times, but the feeling you'll have when you finish it will be just as emotional, if not more so, than what the ship's crew felt when they returned to Earth. Of all the Star Trek games that have been released, this one is undoubtedly among the best.
