There were enough elements to believe this could have been a great sci/fi-horror game, but in the end the gameplay doesn't deliver.

Solarix’s admirable goal to marry the mechanics of Thief to the setting and plot of System Shock 2 proves to be beyond the game’s capabilities. The intentions are exemplary, but the execution is marred by eccentric AI, bugs, and an unfortunate attachment to checkpoints.

Yet another game with great ideas and a not-so-great execution. If you’re looking for a stealth-based horror experience it’s an option, but definitely not the best one out there.

The core concept, while unoriginal, is at least interesting, and it's backed up by a broadly well-realized world. Sadly, the whole thing is scuppered by the absolutely comical AI, which single-handedly removes all tension from the game and transforms it from moody sci-fi horror into disappointing nonsense, frustrating and unintentionally hilarious in equal measures.

The developer’s heart is in the right place, but Solarix just isn’t very good.

Pathetic AI and loads of bugs and flaws drag down what was a promising game. [07/2015, p.63]

Solarix could bow to the old sci-fi gaming with dignity, but due to the botched artificial intelligence, confusing level design and half-baked ideas it turned into its caricature.

The makers of Solarix wanted to follow in the footsteps of System Shock 2 and Dead Space, but the result is just awful.
