This latest chapter improves on virtually every aspect of its near-flawless fundamentals, while delivering more modes, missions, and multiplayer components, proving to fans that its days of resting on its laurels aren't here quite yet.

The true narrative of this game is the journey of slow, dogged, satisfying improvement that you'll travel as you work the ineffable rhythms of the board into your fingers.

While this latest title doesn't take any huge risks, I would argue that's a good thing. Skate has always been one of those rare games where you can just aimlessly play with no goals or objectives.

‘skate 3’ is the 3rd instalment in the skate franchise and it is a big open world game where you skate/run/climb/fly around an expansive jungle of a city called ‘Port Carverton’, you can do missions to earn accessories and clothes and also just climb buildings then skate off them to hit WICKED tricksss. Sequels/Prequels (different versions) or from same studio Compare to other games (competitors/genre)/ originality Its quite unique as when your looking for skate games there is only around 4 main options that stick out which are: skate 3, tony hawks pro skater, session and skate. However all skate games are quite similar as there is only so far you can go with skating game controls and missions. Consistency/Fun The game stays fun if u keep trying to do cooler and cooler tricks and also if u follow the missions to keep yourself entertained. But, as its a skating game you kind of have to entertain yourself a lot of the time as there is no real story, just a big map. Setting/Scenario Set in a huge open world city called Port Carverton where there are big buildings to jump off and there is also big ramps to go off and people to interact with. Ink 1, Shape Difficult/learning curve If you played any other skate game then u will be familiar with the controls but if u r new then there is an option for new play controls which are easier to master and r a good transition into the advanced control for returning players. Gameplay (flow – time to complete) – As it is a new game, it is always being updated and new missions and challenges are being added so you cannot really complete it at this time, but the gameplay flows really smoothly and allows u to do seamless tricks and cruising across Port Carverton Replay value Once u complete all the challenges I imagine the free roam city gets boring after a while of exploring it, however as its a new game it regularly is updated with new jumps and tricks to do so if it keeps up with these updates and shop changes. Modability Platforms and Controls (digital or disc) – storage space Available on all Xbox consoles in the form of an Xbox 360 game, you can also play on PlayStation 3. Cost- £15.00

This has been one of my favorite games since I was 10. I’m so glad it’s backwards compatible on the Series S so I still get to play this masterpiece.

For long time fans of the franchise, Skate 3 will seem very familiar, however it's hard to argue with a successful formula and this formula has worked like gangbusters so far.

Compared to the previous game, Skate 3 is an improvement and if you're a Tony Hawk fanatic, I still suggest you check out this game because the attention to detail in this game is quite good, from sweet skating manoeuvres to graphics that look quite realistic.

Skate 3 takes a great game in Skate 2 and brings it to the next level. If you're looking for a great skateboarding game, look no further.

Resolutely playable, and tricking around the world is still a joy. The 'crazy' additions make us worried for later games, but right now we're too busy smashing our heads open to care. [Issue#59, p.96]

It can never have the impact of the first game but this is still a worthy, incremental improvement.

Skate 3 manages to remain the skateboarding game to beat but ultimately lacks the evolution and balanced, challenging experience that gamers expect from a third installment in the series.

With Skate 2 released just a little over a year ago, it's clear that Skate 3 was pumped out too quickly. The ideas are great, but the lack of polish is evident with every flip, flop, and flub.

Skate 3 was, to me, the last of the great Skateboarding game craze that lasted about 10 years. I don't have much to say about this one other than it's just more of what you love, assuming you're a fan of Skate games. There's new tricks, a whole new map, a wider variety of customization, a skate park editor, more online features, etc. etc. etc. I still prefer Skate 2 because I think it has a much more interesting map and a grittier feel. I also feel like Skate 2 is more refined, despite having a couple less features. Skate 3 is famously a rushed glitch fest. If you like Skate games, you've already played this one so there's no reason to recommend it to you. If you haven't tried the Skate games, check them out. They're all worth playing through.
I beat this game in February of 2020 after beating it many times before.

Not quite a masterpiece, but a very solid skating game that'll keep you grinding for a long while.

I heard so many good things about Skate, read some reviews and decided to pick it up. I shouldn't have, the controls are wonky, as is the camera (which seems to switch to inverted controls occasionally) and the game automatically moves to towards rails, making lip slides a pain to land. 1 push gives you a crawling speed that matched by a snail and saying that, most 'missions' start you very close to the piece to be skated making it hard to get the speed you want. Vert skating is from what I've found almost impossible. You can't pump from what I know therefore making airs a rare occurrence. You can drop into bowls by getting off your board and pressing Y on the edge of the vert, but riding into one sends you flying down to flat. The story is pretty bland, you start off I assume skating for some sponsor, bail hard and end up starting your own board company. It's your job to do these missions to have photos taken for magazines or billboards, videos taken for skate parts (which skip to you doing a trick not the whole line. I watched as the game loaded the next trick which was almost seamlessly right after the first). There is no depth, no characters to like or hate, you just skate and do the missions for promo material. The camera up high is fine, it's where I'm used to it from most 3rd person games, however the low variant of it is horrible. It's hard to line up where you're going. I should note; there is a fish-eye lens filter which you can turn on and off too, I assume this is for recording parts. The controls are interesting for sure, but at times provide a frustrating experience. If you're coming from THPS it's going to be a shock and you'll find it hard to get used to them. Overall I think the game is interesting, the sounds are great, music is good and landing a trick feels fantastic because of the realistic 'slamming' your board to the ground. The UI could use some work as the controls. If you are a fan and played the Tony Hawk games, I would stay away from this as it's a huge shock and generally not as fun to play, especially if you skateboard yourself.

Skate 3 as a skateboarding game isn't enjoyable as you'd expect. It's boring, and at times feel extremely clunky. Plus, the game feels like it has no depth to it whatsoever. I think I'll stick with the Tony Hawk's Underground titles.
