Rad Rodgers
I have no doubt that the developers of Rad Rodgers meant their work to be a loving tribute to 16-bit platformers, and as long as the game restricts itself to fast action, it’s a perfectly fine experience. The puzzles and item hunting just don’t work, though, and those designs shouldn’t have made it through testing. Rad Rogers never rises to the level of the games it’s aping, which renders it inessential, because what’s the point of an homage that’s not even as good as its inspiration?
Rad Rodgers is too self aware, and falls short on many levels.
3D Realms might not want to remake one of its old Duke Nukem masterpieces, but that doesn’t seem to stop them from publishing Interceptor Entertainment’s Rad Rodgers, a humble homage to the long lost era of DOS arcade platformers.

It's a fun platformer and worth the 20$ price tag. The main character's sidekick is a character you'll either love or hate, depending on your tolerance for f-bombs and pop culture references. Good graphics, music like taken right out from a 80s video game and a good challenge even on "easy". One huge annoyance though is a boss battle at the end of two levels. It takes a while to learn his pattern and he will kill you with only 2 hits, so the whole fight is a huge annoyance, especially after spending 20-30 minutes on the levels themselves. Die, and you're back to the very beginning of the level. The "kids mode" doesn't really work either. They've forgotten to censor the intro and the credit sequence for some reason, so you'll still hear a f-bomb and a few milder swears.

First off, congratulations to the developers/publishers as you have made a game. That's a feat in itself. It has some witty one-liners and throwbacks to the late 80's early 90's. It has characters that run, jump and shoot. Other than that, it's poetic that I'm writing this review while sitting on a toilet. This game is BAD. Not just in the sense that it is extremely repetitive game play, not just in the sense that the one-liners repeat themselves multiple times per level (and get tiresome pretty quick), not just in the sense that the "pixel-world puzzles" slowly drain the character's health, but mainly because it is broken. In my play-through of the game, I was able to reach level 7 (after questioning the life choices that led me to playing Rad Rodgers). Once reaching a certain enemy that you must kill in order to progress (an enemy that is only vulnerable after throwing a boomerang), the enemy got stuck in the map and therefore was not vulnerable. Do yourself a favor, don't buy this. I can only recommend this to people who want to have a reason to drink heavily.

Hey. this game is not for all the whining wimps looking for a handout, you actually have to search for the pieces that open the next level. sorry no flashing red dots on your map. does anyone remember bayou billy or milons secret castle on the nes or the original castlevania these game handed you your a** some didnt have a save at all you had to leave the system on all day and hope your mother didnt accidentally cut it off. This game is only practice for megaman 11 get ready to be **** modern day gamers are wimps begging for extra lives and checkpoints, warps so you dont have to walk to the next town. Now my review...very colorful and exciting game play fast paced action with gratuitous cussing and shooting. Very repeditive as are all games shoot jump kill shoot jump kill. Great game, go look at the making on you tube, you'll have a greater respect for all the work that went into this game. I say shut up and play its a great game worth every penny and kids can play too you have the option to cut off blood and language, why hell kids are playing call of duty and gta5 anyway..

Rad Rodgers successfully combines mechanics from many different platform games, but sometimes becomes too repetitive.

It’s genuinely difficult to not be charmed by the foul-mouthed shenanigans of Rad Rodgers. The game somehow manages to morph extremely dated design ideals into a form that is palatable to the modern console crowd.

Rad Rodgers is a game with its ups and downs. It is entertaining, even though it does not take too much time to beat.

The crucial factor to take into account here is the sense of humour. Do you like silly, immature humour that has no respect for the fourth wall? If you don’t, the gameplay probably isn’t strong enough to maintain your interest, particularly in a crowded genre. If you do however, the gameplay is strong enough to maintain your interest for the length of the game, slightly short though it may be.

Rad Rodgers World One Not So Rad Rad Rodgers World One is a 90s inspired 4 hour long 2d platformer where you of course play as rad Rodgers accompanied by dusty.. You have a gun for shooting things, and dusties smarth mouth to keep oyu laughing… This game is full of crude humor, though there are parental controls to take care of this… But the humor of this game is probably the best part.. The rest of this game just feels like one giant chore This game features 8 main levels, 3 optional pogo chasing levels, and a boss battle… And all 8 of these levels for the most part look and feel identical… there is no variety here which ultimately makes this game feel like the longest 4 hours of your life The goal of each level is to collect 4 shards to unlock a gate and move on.. This game is at its best when it sticks to straight forward platforming… These moments of optional exploration with different guns and hidden homes fileld of smart talking creatures are the best.. The platforming and shooting can feel satisfying.. But when this game is bad its bad.. and its bad when it has you playing as dusty in hhis mini game of avoiding lasers and enemies to collect items to put a platform into the world or unlock and new path and the game is bad when wants to feel like more of a Metroidvania sending you in dozens of different directions trying to find these pieces… I wouldn’t have minded these moments as much though if levels actually felt or looked different from one another… They all feel and play the same…. So these less than linear moments feel like an axiety filled drag rather than a new form of level to overcome… The level design here is just mediocre… Rad Rodgers: World One doesn’t have me excited for World Two and is probably a series Ill skip in the future I Give Rad Rodgers: World One a 5.5/10
