The art and music are dripping with style, the mechanics are easy to learn and offer enough wiggle room to be challenging without demanding perfection, and the story is full of heart — if a bit corny at times. If this game looks even remotely interesting, don’t sleep on it.
This is a video game about flying around heaven, shooting and dashing through demons, flirting with your other neons, gathering cards that happen to double as weapons, and talking to angels that just so happen to be cats with comically large sunglasses. If any of that sounds even slightly interesting to you, you may have found your new obsession.
Absolutely one of my favorite games ever. I love the character dynamics and i love the aspect of the devs making it more of a speed game by adding dev times that you can get and the speedrun community is super nice and you can turn a 20 hour game into a 100+ game.
Very good game, love the movement and the addicting aim of the game of to be good at every single one. Before, I aimed for top 10k for each, now aiming for top 5k. Story's a little eh, but still enjoyable at parts.
While the story never fully grabbed me, Neon White is an absolute joy to play, keeping me hooked and repeatedly making me ask myself if I had one more run in me. Even if you’re not the sort of player who usually gets into chasing high scores and leaderboards, Neon White might surprise you.
Neon White is an absolute delight of a speed-running game. It's easy to pick up and play, and it has enough bite that you need to master how to shave off a few seconds from your time to proceed. More importantly, it feels really good to do so. The plot is fun, if not groundbreaking, and the likeable characters keep you invested. Aside from some backtracking that I wasn't fond of, Neon White hits all the marks and hits them well. Just be prepared to start playing and discover that eight hours have flown by.
Neon White is everything you want from a speedrunning game: fast, super precise, well structured and built around short and various levels. This alone would be enough to recommend it, but the package is completed with a unique artistic style, a valuable writing and a clearly original and strange game design that mixes together visual novel, dating sim, first person shooter and platformer. Some very small technical uncertainty in the repetition of the attempts does not affect the overall quality.
Neon White is going to make more than a few people realize they’re speedrunners at heart. Its brand of competition with the self is enthralling, and it's lifted to greater heights by its presentation, music, and mechanics.
Neon White was designed with a clear philosophy in mind and it shows. It’s about smooth movement, interesting level design, creative puzzle solutions and most of all, speed. Those looking for a shooter may be disappointed, but players who are looking for the aforementioned attributes will certainly not be. Amusing characters and a lighthearted tone are just icing on the cake on this very well-designed platformer. If you enjoy the game’s first level, then you likely won’t be dropping Neon White any time soon.
It's amazing gameplay-wise but one thing made me so mad I can't go higher than 7.
The fact that menuing is so slow, you can't quickly reset, you can't skip dialogues, cutscenes, that giving out presents takes ages is mind boggling. The characters and story are very cringe and you really don't want to listen to anything they have to say, but it seems the creators were so proud of this cringefest they force players to bear through it. There's a lot style over substance here, which I could let slide if the substance was noteworthy, but unfortunately it's nauseating.
A fast-paced game with nothing new on the menu. I don't like thedesigns of the characters, the scenarios are all more or less the same, and the plot... well, let's say that it is plain and too simple. In one word? Meh.
By far one of the most cringe games I have ever tried. The game is basically an obby with some ability elements like roguelikes which made it a bit more unique, however, its not like there arent other games that do this already. You can find games that also do this on **** for example. And though everything is opinionated, I hated almost everything about this game. The music was horrible, limited, and very repetitive. The cutscenes, scene building, story writing, and animations were all very bad and cringe. The levels are all extremely short and small to really feel anything, literally 20secs each, at this point the game is more of a loading screen and horrible constant cut scenes. The voice acting was also really bad other than the protagonist. Every other character had horrible voice actors, those you commonly see in dub anime. I also hate the western furry aesthetics used in all the designs. So much more for me to rant on such a tiny game but I'll stop here cause no1 is even gonna read this but me t=t
