MLB The Show 25
MLB The Show 25 shows respect for its players, with minimal microtransactions and a few genuine attempts at innovation. The only downside? The yearly release cycle makes it hard to justify this upgrade.
Not all sports franchises are created equal, and some are top-tier. In terms of both improvements and content, MLB: The Show 25 is the most complete installment the franchise has released to date and is already positioned as one of the best sports titles of the year. The Fall Classic is still a long way off, but it's certainly nice to be heading to the iconic World Series with a video game that delivers and exceeds expectations.
MLB The Show 25 celebrates the franchise’s 20th anniversary with key additions like a first-person camera, roguelike Diamond Quest mode, and ShowTech™ for enhanced realism. Featuring rising stars and a powerful Storylines: The Negro Leagues mode, it blends freshness with depth. While the price may deter casuals, it’s a complete and immersive package for baseball fans.

Whilst the game does tend to focus more on progress as compared to the last 11 Instalments. The game is still practically the same but with roster updates

MLB THE SHOW 25, has gotten sloppy. On HR trouts the player miss touching 2B. Same catcher animations for the last 10 yrs like throwing the ball back to the pitcher. No season mode at all. Atlanta Braves 1B coach is African American and they have him Caucasian. A lot of the players faces looks like clay. Ball hit in the outfield the outfielder gets stuck for a second or two, which causesa lot of doubles. All the players have the exact same dirt on their jersey. We need better player models. It seems like the Dev teams dont care too much about MLB THE SHOW 25.

MLB The Show 25 is REALLY good. It is stacked with options and well-fleshed-out game modes that will keep users’ attention for months individually and all year as a total package. While there are still a few elements that I’d like to see added, I feel comfortable saying this isn’t just the best version in the series—MLB The Show 25 is the best baseball video game ever made.

Game feels smooth with great features. The Diamond Dynasty game mode is very accessible to everyone as it does not require spending money. The best baseball game in years.

First time playing MLB The Show and absolutely loving it! I’ve put 50+ hrs in and only just started Road to The Show… I’m sure I’ll dump many more in by end of Summer.

Though it's almost expected that MLB The Show will have another solid outing, I still can't help but smile when, after my first few games, I realize that baseball is back and we once again have a terrific representation of that in video game form. Whether I was leading my team to the World Series in March to October, charting my player's career in Road to the Show, or learning about the game's history in Storylines, I continually needed to pull myself away from playing "just one more." MLB The Show 25 delivers perhaps the most well-rounded package of any of the mainstream sports video games, making for a title I first fired up during Spring Training and could very well still be playing when the World Series rolls around.

A great entry from the leading baseball sim going, MLB The Show 25 adds small but meaningful elements to its familiar formula to keep you swinging for the fences.

MLB The Show 25 is a promising step forward for the franchise. Even with some nitpicks across its many different modes, San Diego Studio has addressed the most glaring issues with last year’s game, particularly when it comes to Diamond Dynasty. This leads me to believe that I’ll be playing MLB The Show 25 far more throughhout 2025 than I did in past years, which speaks volumes on its own.

MLB The Show 25 doesn’t make any massive changes, but it didn’t need to. If you are a baseball fan, I highly recommend picking up MLB The Show 25, and if you are a sports fan who hasn’t tried this series yet, it’s the perfect year to do so.

MLB The Show 25 remains a solid baseball game. However, it lacks significant changes from its previous version. The addition of High School and College/University play feels limited with only eight teams. Paying $70 for a roster update and a few minor tweaks doesn’t seem worth it.

*MLB The Show 25* is a triumph for baseball fans and gamers alike, delivering a polished, immersive, and downright addictive experience that solidifies its place as the gold standard in sports simulations. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, San Diego Studio has taken an already stellar franchise and infused it with meaningful upgrades, refined gameplay, and a renewed sense of excitement that makes this installment feel like a love letter to the sport and its ****’s start with the on-field action, which remains the heart of *MLB The Show*. The gameplay is as crisp and satisfying as ever, striking a perfect balance between accessibility for newcomers and depth for seasoned players. Hitting still delivers that exhilarating crack of the bat, though some have noted perfect contact doesn’t always yield the home runs it should—a minor quibble that patches could easily address. The new “Ambush Hitting” mechanic is a brilliant addition, letting you guess pitch locations for a risk-reward dynamic that adds real strategic heft to every at-bat. Fielding, meanwhile, has been elevated with hundreds of new animations and a greater emphasis on player attributes, making every diving catch or slick double play feel authentic and earned. The swim move for baserunning is a subtle but welcome touch, bringing more nuance to an often-overlooked aspect of the **** modes are where *MLB The Show 25* truly shines. Road to the Show (RTTS) gets a much-needed overhaul with the introduction of “The Amateur Years,” starting your journey in high school and college before hitting the pros. While the handful of games at each level might feel brief, the revamped progression system—using tokens to customize your player’s attributes—offers a tailored, RPG-like depth that keeps you invested in your created star. Whether you’re crafting a two-way phenom or a defensive wizard, RTTS feels fresh and rewarding.Diamond Dynasty, the card-collecting juggernaut, is back in top form after ditching the restrictive Sets and Seasons model. Now, every card you earn stays relevant all year, and the power creep is a nostalgic return to form that makes grinding for that 99 OVR Shohei Ohtani card genuinely thrilling. The new Diamond Quest mode—a roguelike board game twist—injects single-player fun with clever challenges and progression, while Weekend Classic offers a competitive outlet for online warriors. Best of all, you can build a meta team without spending a dime, a rarity in today’s microtransaction-heavy landscape.Franchise mode finally gets some love with a revamped free agency system that mirrors the real MLB’s chaotic offseason. The “Big Board” lets you prioritize targets, but signing stars now hinges on factors like market size and team competitiveness, not just cash. It’s a step toward realism that makes every negotiation tense and satisfying, though some may wish for even deeper management options.Visually, the game is a stunner on next-gen consoles, with detailed player models, dynamic shadows, and vibrant stadiums that pop off the screen. The commentary duo of Jon “Boog” Sciambi and Chris Singleton keeps things lively, and the expanded soundtrack adds a fresh vibe to every game. Sure, the graphics haven’t leapt forward dramatically—crowd close-ups still look a bit dated—but the presentation is so polished it’s hard to **** it perfect? Not quite. The AI can occasionally stumble on routine plays, and Franchise could still use more innovation. But these are nitpicks in what is otherwise a home run. *MLB The Show 25* doesn’t reinvent the wheel—it doesn’t need to. Instead, it refines an already excellent formula with smart risks and fan-driven improvements, delivering a game that’s as replayable as it is authentic. Whether you’re a die-hard baseball nut or a casual gamer, this is the best virtual diamond experience money can buy. San Diego Studio has knocked it out of the park—again.

I mean its nice that they removed sets and seasons, but every new program has a collection that takes FTP players forever to complete, and I find the programs to be a lot more grindy then in the past, the gameplay is the same, and the graphical jump they made is unnoticeable which is sad because some player models still look like garbage

The same things that have been broken for years are still broken, the best cards in the game are in chase packs with under 1% odds of pulling the chase card (you'll get low diamonds and like it) or locked behind hundreds of dollars in stub purchases (you aren't making them by playing the game) or in the case of the live series a small fortune. The gameplay is also noticeably worse than last year and that's all that really needs to be said about this years version of MLB The Money Grab. They're also letting cheaters run rampant this year because everyone that works at SDS apparently **** at their jobs. Don't buy this garbage, no matter the price.
