First part of the game is great but after that is just repeating and running through same corridors again and again.Super Metroid was brilliant but this one is just average.
Gameplay is hit and miss .....
Metroid Prime Remastered is a perfect remaster of an old beloved GameCube title that is universally loved. The game has impressive new and improved features including more smoother controls. The game has a very unique story to understand with Samus going on her journey to get off of Planet Zebes, a horrid, infested planet with alienlike creatures and a bunch of amazing sights to see. The game has fun abilities to use with Samus's arm cannon, The game gives a good challenge against the player with some confusing puzzles that you need time to understand and bosses that can feel complicated but that's how Metroid is supposed to be. The visuals are amazing in this remaster as also the visuals and the gameplay are the reason why this is one of my favorite video games of all time. and how evolving puzzle games including FPS games have evolved over the years. Anyway, this was my full review for Metroid Prime Remastered if you read this thank you.
My first venture into the 3D Metroid world, and I’m so glad this game exists. It aged really well, and deserved the remaster. It’s cheap, it’s fun, it’s epic, and it’s so clever.
It's a fresh environment game that I love this game, backtracking on old days, collect missiles, collect power bombs, upgrade the weapons and abilities, defeat all bosses, and unlock all secrets on hidden chozo artifacts. This is outstanding performance and graphics looks very good on this game. However, they're a tiny problem with ghost chozo started to spawn on animation when I couldn't hit it that I shall have to be patiently and then, start to fight. Overall, it's almost legendary game what I can say, I'm giving (9/10)!
Fantastic remaster of one of my favorite games from the gamecube era. It holds up so good and have been boosted up with this well done visual overhaul.
As someone who never experienced the original, this game feels less like a remaster and more like a brand-new, modern classic. The first thing that hits you is the unparalleled atmosphere. From the moment you step out of your ship, you're enveloped in a world that feels alien, mysterious, and alive. The environmental storytelling is phenomenal; you learn about the world, its inhabitants, and its tragic history not through cutscenes, but by exploring and using your Scan Visor. This simple mechanic is pure genius, turning every creature, piece of Chozo lore, and Space Pirate log into a compelling puzzle that deepens your understanding of the world. While it's a first-person game, calling it a "shooter" feels like a disservice. Metroid Prime is a masterclass in first-person exploration. The combat is satisfying and strategic, but it's the exploration that truly shines. The level design is intricate and brilliant, a winding, interconnected world that feels like a single, cohesive place. As you gain new abilities, the world opens up in new and exciting ways, rewarding your curiosity with hidden secrets and new paths. The feeling of finally using a new item to access a previously locked-off area is one of the most satisfying loops in all of gaming. On top of the timeless gameplay, the remaster job is simply flawless. The graphics are stunning, bringing the original's art direction to life with a level of detail and polish that makes it one of the best-looking games on the Switch. For a first-time player, Metroid Prime Remastered is not just a great game—it's an essential one. It's an immersive, intelligent, and captivating adventure that perfectly blends exploration, puzzle-solving, and action into a one-of-a-kind experience. It’s a 10/10 that proves a truly great game can stand the test of time and feel as fresh today as it probably did twenty years ago.
When it was released, the game was outstanding. Nowadays, it can’t be rated as highly, and it doesn’t really stand out in any aspect. Still, it’s a good remaster, faithful to the original.
After playing this great game for the first time, I can say it's my second favorite Metroid game, behind Fusion. I think the 3D looks spectacular in the Metroid series. I think it's a beautiful game artistically and graphically. It runs quite well in terms of performance. As for the game, I think it has a good difficulty, neither too easy nor too difficult, and it's super enjoyable to play. The controls are very comfortable. The only bad thing I can say about the game is how convoluted the Chozo artifacts are. But I think that's more my fault, because that's what a Metroidvania game is all about. Honestly, it's one of the best games I've ever played. I'd give it a 96.
I never played the original and only recently enjoyed the remaster. What can I say? As a fan of Metroid and Metroidvania games, I loved Metroid Prime Remastered. What many people criticize is actually true: the backtracking is very extensive here, I have to admit :-). You really need stamina. But that's exactly what I enjoy so much about Metroidvania games. Searching, exploring, and backtracking are simply part of the experience for me. And when you finally find your way forward, the sense of reward is all the greater. Many players also criticize the late-game Chozo Artifact hunt, but I actually enjoyed it since it encouraged me to revisit the entire world one last time and say goodbye. It gave me a satisfying sense of closure before the finale. Beyond that, the game has everything others have already mentioned: a beautifully polished world that is also not too big, so you can (and want to) wander through it multiple times. The music is fantastic, and it’s especially cool how it changes in certain areas when you return later in the game. The remastered graphics are gorgeous and run absolutely smoothly at 60fps. Also the modernized controls work perfectly. All in all, it’s a great game that I enjoyed immensely, and one that left a lasting impression on me. 10/10!
My first time properly playing through any Metroid game, and it did not disappoint. The world of the game is crafted incredibly well, allowing you to find new obstacles and puzzles for you to solve, and rewarding you for it as well. The game's progression is also done great, with you being able to find unreachable areas that you can backtrack to later once you receive a new upgrade, whether it's for something to help make you stronger, or to progress the game. The controls of this version are also smooth, allowing you to easily find a flow that makes the game all the more enjoyable to play. The boss fights are also well done, and the overall difficulty of the game is fair, not being too hard but also not being a pushover. The music is also great, helping immerse you in the game world. My only minor complaint would be that I do wish there was a little more to explore. Overall, this is a fantastic experience.
This game did not age well. Yes, you can see how all modern games draw inspiration from this design based on exploration.
Awful controls, no fast travel, ton of backtracking, MANUAL SAVING where you have to replay 2 hours if you forgot to save before a random boss fight. Absolute abysmal original sound design gets annoying after 15 minutes.
This is the first Metroid game I have ever played and I absolutely loved it. The art style does such a great job making this game that I played on ancient tech look beautiful. Mechanically it felt good to play also, which is nice since original is pretty old at this point. The quality of this game felt like it is probably more a remake than a remaster, but I never played the original so I can’t say. The story itself was just okay, but I thought all the lore and world building they did was great. This definitely got me interested in the Metroid series though.
I love playing games from this time, it reminds me how good video games used to be in terms of not holding hands. I think many of us play waiting to be told what to do, or where to go and it ends up making the games we play too easy, and just many don't require much thought at all. Metroid Prime to me was always like a halo with platforming. There's some age here in terms ofthe gunplay, and enemy ai. However at the same time, the late game ai can be ruthless and this game can get difficult if you are unexperienced. All in all, this was a flawless experience, and possibly my absolute favorite game I own for my switch. It runs at a buttery smooth 60fps, with 0 moments dropping that framerate from what I've seen. The graphics are literally on par with whatever I would buy for a current gen console, the amount of small details in this game are insane, and so much of it can go unnoticed. The love put into this game was immense when Retro made it 20 years ago, but the love the put BACK into it is so clear as day. To say i'm excited for what Retro Studios does for Prime 4, would be an absolute understatement. I surely hope Prime 4 smashes sales records so we can finally get some more Metroid games!
honestly I would rate the game a 7/10. I just finished the game and it felt like a chore. waaay too much unnecessary backtracking and they don't even give u pins for the map so you have to rely completely on memory or just wonder around trying to remember where you saw that area that you couldn't access before and then you have to come back to the same area at least 5 times, and the more new areas u discover the more backtracking u have to do now. the enemies also weren't that interesting. It was a good game overall but the backtracking killed it for me. The sound track though is fantastic!
Great game coming from a Gamecube game however the game lacks epic moments besides the intro and the story doesn't add enough to make it memorable, the gameplay and graphics are good enough to carry everything but not enough for the 9s or 10s territory
Wonderful visuals and atmosphere, and the environmental storytelling is great. But the constant backtracking in a 3D space, as opposed to the 2D games, just doesn’t work for me.
Game doesn't really hold up to modern shooters. It only got that high of a meta in the gamecube era cause it looked the best and the competiion in first person shooters was none.
This retro game is a masterpiece! It has no dialogue and no text dialogues but it's fine because it actually tales a story when you scan everything. And gameplay is great and with this remastered version it looks even better! I just wish Nintendo remastered Prime 2 and 3 as well
This is my first time playing Metroid Prime. I saw many recommendations online about this game, so with the remaster a perfect way to start. It was 100% worth it. The controls are smooth with 60fps. The visuals are amazing for an Nintendo Switch game. I can't forget the music in this game. I played many games and it have one of the best I ever heard in a video game. This game is one of the best games I played in my life and more important, enjoyed. A must play for every gamer!
The original Metroid Prime is a classic title of the Gamecube, now it has came to be beautifully remastered in the best way. The Graphics, instead of upscaling the resolution, re-did the textures with more modern tech and it shows, especially with how insane it looks on Switch. The graphical overhaul does not take away, but instead, ups the atmosphere of the game and environments and make you feel amazed and chilled to the bone. The controls are also now updated and are much better than the original controls, the original controls are a bit clunky but are passible, these new controls feel SO much better for old and new players to the game are are still smooth to play on. If I have to give one minor complaint, that would that the backtracking can get a little much but the exploration and puzzle-solving kind of helps it from feeling overwhelming. Overall, this is how you do a remaster right, with great updated graphics, new and smooth controls, high atmosphere, tricky but rewarding puzzles, engaging bosses, a simple plot with deep lore, and amazing sound design and soundtrack, and running at a stable 60fps, This game is still a masterpiece to this day and I highly recommend this for any fan of Metroid Prime or for newcomers who want to experience this classic.
Very good remaster of a classic game. It has its flaws due to game mechanics dating from 20 years ago but overall an amazing FPS and adventure game. Music is really good and the atmosphere is amazing
This game was awesome…,but over two decades Ago! Now clunky and archaic controls almost killed that title! Imagine if you want make strafe, you must hold lock button, push jump button plus left or right on analog!!! Jumps and physics are bad,and feels like bag full of potatoes but not human body!Combat is decent, but bosses fights are difficult, because of antic control metod!Backtracking and no quick movement between regiony not help!Rest of game like adventure, story, puzzle, sounds and visuals are great - just Classic and pure fun for mind, eyes and ears!
Definitely one of my favourite games. The improvement are amazing, the atmosphere is one of highlights as well as the gameplay. I feel that this game was used as an example for the modern FPS. The only thing that could be considered negative is the backtracking, but its a metroid game. Really hoping that Retro Studios remakes the other two of the Prime series.
It's impressive how they managed to translate the Metroid 2D experience into a 3D game. Personally, I never had a GameCube, so I never would have imagined that such a hidden gem was overlooked by me during that generation.
The perfect comeback imo. The game style copes with the possibilities nintendo has to offer. I can't say anything people don't already know, a must-play without a doubt
FPS Metroid just doesn't work for me. Too boring and repetitive to bother. Maybe it's GameCube legacy gameplay, or perhaps FPS genre doesn't suit Metroid series.
All though the game is fun and cool, sometimes it's not really fun. The mechanics and items are cool, the bosses and the map.
But the fact it doesn't save normally is trash. Finding the way and the upgrades can be hard as well.
Metroid Prime – A Frustrating Dive into a Tedious LabyrinthMetroid Prime may have a strong reputation, but I found it to be an overhyped and, at times, painfully frustrating experience. For a game hailed as a “masterpiece,” it struggles with some glaring flaws that make it far from enjoyable.First, the pacing is incredibly slow. The backtracking is relentless—after making some progress, you’re often forced to revisit old areas, which feels more like padding than meaningful exploration. It breaks the flow of the game, making it feel tedious rather than immersive. The constant need to retrace your steps, scanning objects, unlocking doors, and navigating the same repetitive environments becomes an exhausting chore.Speaking of scanning, the scanning system is another letdown. While it’s meant to add depth to the world, having to scan nearly everything disrupts the gameplay flow. It feels like a lazy storytelling method, where instead of the world naturally unfolding, you’re bombarded with walls of text that are easy to ignore.Combat, too, is a disappointment. While the lock-on mechanic helps with aiming in a 3D space, it oversimplifies encounters, making fights feel repetitive and lacking any real challenge. Boss battles, which should be a highlight, are often prolonged and require more patience than strategy, dragging the game down even **** controls feel outdated, especially compared to more recent first-person titles. The clunky movement and awkward platforming make navigating the 3D environments frustrating. It lacks the smoothness and precision of modern games, which can be a dealbreaker for those used to more refined controls.Visually, while the art direction is commendable, the environments quickly become monotonous. There’s only so much alien landscape one can take before it all starts blending together. The minimalist soundtrack, while atmospheric at first, does little to alleviate the game’s repetitive **** conclusion, Metroid Prime may appeal to hardcore fans of the series, but for newcomers or those looking for a more modern, fast-paced experience, it falls short. The slow pacing, repetitive design, and frustrating controls make it a game that’s hard to recommend without significant caveats.
I haven’t played the original game, so I can’t compare the two. Overall, it’s a really good game. It has beautiful graphics, it’s easy to control, and the music is okay. I really liked the lock-on system when fighting the monsters. However, I can’t give it a top score because I think it has some flaws and shortcomings. You spend an incredible amount of time walking back and forth. I could probably live with that if it wasn’t for the monsters respawning in the different rooms all the time. It wasn’t always possible to just quickly pass through. Sometimes you had to fight the battles over and over again. I REALLY missed having some 'transport stations' that would allow you to quickly travel to and from places. I also didn’t find the map easy to navigate. Here, I missed the option to make markings on the map so you could remember what you needed to return to later. It was completely impossible to remember the places you needed to revisit later in the game.
One of the best remasters I've ever seen. The care and attention to detail is frankly the Gold standard for Remasters coming forward. The game itself is a great experience capable of holding its own against modern FPS games.
