Mark of the Deep is a title that knows how to take advantage of the best of the metroidvania and soulslike genres to create an engaging and challenging adventure. With accessible mechanics and a friendly learning curve, the game manages to balance exploration, intense combat and captivating narrative, resulting in a memorable experience. The mysterious setting, combined with the well-developed mythology, makes Rookie's journey immersive and rewarding. Despite some inconsistencies, especially in the dubbing, the game stands out as an excellent example of the potential of the Brazilian industry and can already be considered one of the best games ever developed in Brazil.

Mark of the Deep is one of the best experiences I’ve had lately, the only existing problems are so minor you might just not notice them whilst playing.

Mark of the Deep takes all its influences and adapts them to its world, giving us a highly entertaining title with an interesting premise. It's worth giving it a chance, although some technical issues affect the experience.

+ Pirates! Best setting ever.
- Rebinding keys must be done every launch, since it resets to default.
- Not all actions can be rebinded. This is unacceptable.
- Rebinding keys still gives the default key prompt.
- Combat is shallow and boring, at least for the first few hours (dunno if it gets better), and dodge is weird and you get hit more than you deserve.
- Boring AF backgrounds, they all look the same and it's too dark and confusing.
- No map, which is a big issue since the screens all look the same. Hard to tell where to go, resulting in pointless, annyong back-and-forth in already visited zones.
- Boring monsters.
- Bad main character. Waste of pirate potential.

Mark of the Deep is a title that shines in its purpose, delivering beautiful visuals and an engaging soundtrack. However, the lack of innovation in gameplay and the difficulty limit the game's potential a bit. I recommend the game to players looking for an immersive and relaxing experience.

I haven’t quite wrapped up my time with Mark of the Deep yet, but as my first playthrough shows signs of coming to a close, I can’t help but feel that this is one the best games of its kind in a while. The genre is overloaded with Hades, Curse of the Gods, and Hollow Knight knock-offs, and it’s difficult for games akin to the Greats to really stand on their own. That’s where Mark of the Deep comes in. It does enough to tick off what I want from a Soulsike-come-Metroidvania(ish) to deserve your attention while still doing its own thing; I just wish one of these fish guys had a map or two on hand.

It may not look overly original on the surface, but dive a little further and Mark of the Deep is an engaging, compelling little adventure.

A nice world, boss designs and mini-puzzles are drowned by sticky, one-note combat and blunted exploration mechanics.
