House Flipper

House Flipper is one of those titles that you just don't expect to be as good as it is. Seriously, play this videogame.

It seems a little silly to gush about a video game that simulates housework but given the added amount of stress and anxiety that has crept into my life lately, House Flipper is a wonderful way to shut out the noise of the world for a little bit.

It is a niche title, but it can be a very fun game if you don't mind spending hours remaking houses and decorating them to your heart's content.

This house-renovating simulator provides a satisfying sense of progression and realism. Its focus veers away from architectural and interior design, letting handiwork steal the spotlight.

Cleaning up a large house, painting the walls, and fixing the plumping is dull work for most people. For some bizarre reason, in House Flipper all that is fun. Being a sim title it's not for everyone of course, but those who enjoy the idea of buying, renovating, and reselling houses will actually get addicted with playing this, especially since its title that's incredibly easy to pick up and play. Sadly, it suffers a lot in terms of replay value. By the time you hit 10 hours or so, you've practically done everything twice, and all that's left is to simply experiment with new colours of paint, or different sets of furniture.

House Flipper seems like a killer idea for a sim game, and while your first few sales deliver some of the before-and-after magic, the game fails to capture the larger remodeling fantasy. Empyrean has been delivering a steady stream of updates and improvements to House Flipper, but it’ll take a lot more elbow grease to get this fixer-upper ready for market.

House Flipper manages to scratch a specific itch, but it lacks long-term incentives and just generally feels like a missed opportunity. With more content, polish, interactivity, and customization, this could become a nice sleeper hit. It's serviceable as is, but it won't hold your attention for too long.

Honestly this game is super fun! I last played this game over a year ago, but I have really good memories of it. I never played it as its main focus due to the nature of it being a cleaning/repair simulation game, but it's great for playing while winding down and relaxing for a while. There's so much you can do in this game already, and I haven't bought the DLCs but from skimming it does look like it adds a lot more content too! Overall, I'd rate House Flipper a solid 7/10, my only downside being the lack of updates (e.g. multiplayer being restricted to HF2). While I do think House Flipper is worth its price tag, this game goes on sale so often (sometimes even free) that it's worth starting your new phase once it goes on sale next. Plus, the DLCs as a package are super cheap too (at the time of writing, The Flipper Bundle went from £68.88 -> £26.10 (62% off) ) if you're having fun and willing to splurge!

-Quick Review- House Flipper is a singleplayer simulation game where you’ll do various jobs for customers until you have enough money to buy houses, clean and fix them up, and sell them for a profit, thus “house flipping”. House Flipper was developed by Empyrean and released in 2018. -Detailed breakdown review-Story: House Flipper doesn’t have a story in a literal ****’re NOT playing as “Karl Von Houseflipper”, who’s just bought a shack in the middle of Ohio City, OH and his dream since the day his family immigrated from Transylvania was to someday make it rich by doing small jobs for neighbors like setting up radiators, painting living rooms, cleaning up garages, and eventually owning cleaning up and and selling property until he can retire at Kame House. That’s NOT the story in house flipper. But wouldn’t it be great if it was?No, the only type of “story” you’ll get will be the flavor text you see before you take a client’s job or buy a property. I did intentionally do every job in the game EXCEPT for setting up heating units in some jerk’s house because he demanded it in a rude way, and let’s be real, I’m my own boss in this power fantasy, he can just sit in the cold or pay someone else. …but I did set up his dumb heaters at the end of the game to get 100% completed. I wasn’t happy about doing it though. I hope he got pneumonia from the lack of heating leading up to me doing the job. Gameplay: Are ya ready for the gameplay loop? First, you’ll have some jobs to do to get enough money to buy properties… These jobs will prepare you for the rest of the game and could almost be considered tutorial-esk… but I’d rather think of them as “On-the-job ****’ll assemble heating units, clean windows, pick up garbage, paint walls, demolish walls with a big hammer, build new walls, buy and position furniture, water fixtures, and more… especially more if you end up buying any of the DLC.Once you get enough money you can buy houses, you’ll do everything you did in the private jobs, but this time without a checklist of what needs to be done. The “Game” element is in putting furniture and decorations into the home to attract prospective buyers.Want to get the family of 17 to buy your house? Lots and lots of bedrooms. Want the hipster to buy it? No toys, only one bedroom. Want the arty girl or grandparents interested in your house? Put up pictures on the walls. Everyone’s got stuff they like or dislike and you try to tailor the house towards those buyers to maximize profits when you put the house up for **** problem with this system is I quickly switch from “Oh! I’m going to make this place look nice”, to “Okay, to maximize interest, I’m going to put in 6 of these ugly WALL CUBBY BOOKSHELVES… AGAIN” Conclusion: On the whole, I liked playing House Flipper. It was significantly easier and faster to clean up a space than Viscera Cleanup Detail. Unfortunately, since it’s only single player you’re not going to chill with friends, but you can still get that cathartic experience you’d get from a “cleaning game”.Some people will jell with House Flipper and love it, some people won’t. I’m not sure where that line is… maybe if you’re looking for a multiplayer game vs a singleplayer game… or on the difficulty of the game, house flipper is really easy. But I think the process and spectacle of “cleaning” isn’t quite as strong as Viscera Cleanup Detail, or Power wash simulator either. very painful . I am from China mainland . I work 12hours a day ,8day rest 24hour . I am tired of job and live like a dog , this game can't bring me peaceful but suffering . I am not gonna be a house keeper after work even without paid, I feel myself cheap and being slaved . I hate this game . but in another way , it help sleep after played .
