This is one of those truly odyssey-like video games, thanks to Valve’s great variety and creativity in their design. Half-Life 2 is deservedly an icon in the annals of video games and a testament to the depth that the shooter genre can achieve. It almost dares to be forgotten, but the years and subsequent far-branching legacy of the game have proven that it simply cannot be.

*Half-Life 2* remains one of the most impressive first-person shooters ever made. Its world-building and environmental storytelling make City 17 feel believable and immersive, and the game does an excellent job of making you feel like you truly are Gordon Freeman. The pacing is consistently engaging, mixing combat, puzzles, and vehicle sections without letting any one element overstay its welcome.>> The supporting cast is likable, especially Alyx, while the ending leaves a strong desire to continue the story. Although the enemy AI and physics no longer feel revolutionary by modern standards, they still hold up well and contribute to a polished gameplay experience. The soundtrack is memorable, if somewhat sparse, and the voice acting and sound design are excellent.>> My biggest criticism is that the constant enemy pressure and some of the darker, more intense levels reduce its replay value for me personally. Even so, *Half-Life 2* is a landmark FPS that I would absolutely recommend to anyone interested in the genre.

I know that there are people who have never tried this game, I have news for you, you are missing out on probably the best FPS game in history, it is impossible to describe, immersion, physics, characters and, above all, never boring game mechanics, something absolutely fantastic, I finished the game for the 13th time, I still don't have enough. 10/10

I played it in 2026, but with so many games boasting hyper-realistic graphics, this is the absolute peak, the best game you can try. It's still quite playable today, but I swear I could play it 10 more times. The entire series is fantastic and everyone should play it. I'd give it a 1000/10, but that's not possible. In short, PEAKKKKK

I got it for free on Steam, I played it and after playtrough it said "BEST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED"

This game is one of my all-time favorites. It has amazing characters and an atmospheric, alive, and immersive world. I've played through it 3 times now, and I definitely will play through it more in the future. Overall, it changed my perspective on gaming and will always be a classic for me. 10/10

What can I say ? The absolute masterpiece of gaming , storytelling and gameplay as it's peak... In my entire life i've never played a game like that , just wow.

This was one of the first games I have ever played, and it has stuck with me ever since its release. Each level of this game has something new and refreshing. I absolutely adore this game, and I love Valve. If you have a PC and have never played Half-Life 2, what are you doing?

Just came here after playing Leon campaign in RE9, i just miss the era where games were so **** good.

In its most basic form, a perfect game story in every sense and storytelling environmental factors The depth of the dynamics of the characters is undoubtedly the best games.

Although I prefer the more intense scientific tone of Half-Life 1, I definitely enjoyed playing this game much more than the first one. The character controls are very smooth (which the first game definitely didn’t manage to achieve), and the graphics are at an acceptable level. The story is also told very well, step by step, and unlike the first game, it’s not just about solving puzzles in order and occasionally fighting. Valve’s physics system runs so well that we barely see anything comparable even in 2026. Using it in puzzles was really enjoyable, even if most of them were quite easy to solve. I’ve heard that the vehicle sections are considered frustrating by many players, but I didn’t feel that they dragged on. When the physics system is integrated into combat, especially when you’re under time pressure, like in the final mission, it creates some truly fun moments. The graphics are still perfectly playable today. They are starting to show their age, but they are far from bad. The lighting system, in particular, is quite impressive. The environmental textures do feel a bit outdated, but that’s not a major issue. I don’t think anyone plays this game for its graphics anyway. Story-wise, it explores one of my favorite themes: you know very little about the outside world at first, and over time you learn about its structure and rules by interacting with people and observing everything around you. The game maintains a consistently high-paced linear narrative that constantly makes you curious about what comes next. NPCs also provide much more information compared to the first game, which makes the story feel deeper. The combat music is enjoyable, but it doesn’t have any truly unforgettable or standout tracks. Overall, this game delivered an unforgettable experience both in terms of gameplay and story. The only thing I would have preferred is learning more about the story naturally within the game rather than having to rely on external sources like wikis. Vraiment très impressionnant graphiquement pour l'époque et encore aujourd'hui peu de jeux arrivent à la hauteur en terme de physique des objets. Certaines phases sont lentes comme l'autoroute mais sinon l'histoire est vraiment bien.

The first half of this game is great, but the 2nd half? Is really slow and sluggish, especially on repeat playthroughs. Starting with Nova Prospeckt, it throws multiple holdout events, which unlike L4D aren't so enjoyable atleast on repeat. Those strider battles, near the end where you just hug a rpg crate. Whereas Half-Life 1 is solid all around, yep even the hated chapters I enjoy. Episode One is basically what the 2nd half of this game is, but if it was solid throughout. Tho you might have fatigue playing through EP1 right after HL2, which is completely valid. You should play it either way. I've played it back 20 years ago, so ya maybe i was more blown away from everything. But the physics are something most modern games just dont bother with.

El mejor juego que he jugado sin lugar a dudas, de verdad, nunca había conocido un juego tan bueno, me lo he pasado 5 veces, 3 de ellas con mods, que por cierto, su comunidad de modding es una de las mejores, el juego tiene buenas físicas realistas, gráficos muy buenos para la época, contiene un poco de horror psicológico y cósmico, su historia o lore es increíblemente bueno y mas si te haz jugado su precuela, también quiero mencionar lo realista que funcionan las caras de los personajes humanos, puesto que si los comparas con juegos mas actuales, irónicamente los de Half-life 2 estan mas avanzadas, un juegazo 10/10.

In 2026, this is one of the worst games you can play. I’m literally forcing myself to continue, but everything about it feels disgusting. The sound design is awful—constant, grating alien noises and nonstop gunfire that never lets up. The helicopter fights are stupidly hard in the worst way, not challenging, just frustrating.Even for its time, there were way better games than this, like GTA: San Andreas or Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. I genuinely don’t understand the praise this game gets. I guess it’s considered the “godfather” of the gaming industry, but that status alone doesn’t make it enjoyable. TLDR: Half-Life 2 is a museum piece people pretend is still fun or great for its time. Miserable now.

My Review – Half-Life 2 – 10/10 I gave Half-Life 2 a 10 out of 10 because it’s a masterpiece of storytelling, gameplay, and world-building. The physics-based mechanics, intense combat, and immersive environments make it one of the most engaging FPS experiences ever. The story is gripping, the characters are memorable, and the pacing keeps you hooked from start to finish. Even years later, the game still feels innovative and thrilling. This is why Half-Life 2 is a 10/10.

With graphics that hold up to today's standards even nearly twenty years after its release, Half-Life 2 picks up the story of our scientist, years later during a great alien invasion. Our game manages to combine a linear experience with a more open and vast world, a rich story set in an apocalyptic world with little but strong hope of opposing to the combine's dictatorship. Everything from the art direction to the gameplay is enjoyable. Overall, Half-Life 2 is a timeless masterpiece and will continue to be so for years to come.
