EyeToy: Kinetic
Don't go in there expecting fun mini games. Instead, this is strictly a fitness title, yet it's quality means there's genuine potential here to carve out a new genre within videogaming.
With a regimental programme of exercises broken up into mini-games and more 'traditional' moves such as squats and push-ups the title certainly offers those willing to take the plunge an alternative to the gym or impact sports. This is an EyeToy title with actual substance and far exceeds our expectations.

Each activity comes with a tutorial from a virtual instructor, and as you kick out at the falling balloons on the TV screen it’ s impossible not to smile. And how often do you see that down the gym?

Between the fun I had playing it, the fitness boost I've gained from it (body fat now 13% and dropping if you want numbers), the awareness and discipline it's taught me and the sheer enthusiasm it's reawakened in me to turn on my PS2 for an hour almost every night, EyeToy: Kinetic distinguishes itself until it is, almost, virtually unassailable.

IGN
A very nifty exercise package that makes great use of the EyeToy. It's not quite perfect, as dodging some objects may slow down the pace, and you might not tend to use your legs like Kinetic may intend, but regardless of that it's an impressive exercise package.

One of the main problems with Kinetic is that players need an awful lot of room to play this game. So unless a particular PS2 is not located in the vicinity of a small room or a crowded living room, players may have some difficulty with performing exercises without breaking some indoor furniture.

PSM Magazine
Does a good job of making a game out of the exercises, but "Yourself!Fitness" is a much more robust and adaptive fitness package. [Dec 2005, p.110]

Technical problems kill any value that Kinetic might have.

SummaryEyeToy: Kinetic offers a wide variety of fitness activities that far exceeds the traditional 'home workout video'. The EyeToy camera, with the addition of a newly developed Wide Angled Lens that attaches to the front of the camera, allows for increased levels of interactivity projecting the exerciser's image onto the television screen, e...
