As a VR experience designed from the ground up for the technology, Doom VFR is probably the best example of this to date. There are some improvements to be made with the movement, but it is otherwise a fantastic bit of the ol’ ultra violence that shouldn’t be missed. Bethesda have definitely shown they understand the potential of VR, so hopefully we’ll see more dedicated VR experiences in the future.

Doom VFR is a brave shooter that proves that VR games don’t have to be conservative with movement to work. Fast-paced action with a great stable of recognizable weapons and enemies makes it a challenging rush, once you find your VR legs. It’s a shame VFR story didn’t get the same self-aware treatment as Doom did, but even if it’s all about warping and gunning, that’s more than enough.

Love it, even though the PS aim controller integration **** (jerky af) and I hate the move controller teleporting too (nauseating af). Best way to play imo is on a standard controller with smooth movement and rotation. It’s a different story from Doom 2016, so it’s really nice to have a totally unique Doom VR experience. It really feels like you’re there, on a base on Mars and the Hell levels are extremely immersive. The weapons in VR feel huge and bada$$. Kicka$$ game. *Mic drop*

Doom VFR is a blast to play for every VR owner. The fast-paced action that the series is known for, is translated very well here. Although the adventure isn't that long, overall the experience is wonderful.

While visually this is one of the best looking games out there for Sonys VR platform, mechanically this is a rather bland and uninspired shooting gallery for most of the time. Just using the well known assets is no guarantee for a dynamic shooting experience.

In the end, Doom VFR leverages extant resources to construct an intimate sensation of murdering hell demons in virtual reality. Dealing with Satan entails a short list of sacrifices which Doom VFR obliges through its compressed experience, inadequate control options, and risk averse experimentation. Safe and sensible, however, are sufficient labels for Doom VFR’s pledge of menacing intensity.

DOOM VFR sounds like a great idea but it doesn’t do enough to justify its existence. Take away the VR headset and it would be just as playable on a TV or computer monitor. It might have actually been better that way, because then I wouldn’t have gotten so uncomfortable. Control issues aside, this is a competent and solidly designed video game that means well enough even though it strips away the cool things that made DOOM great. Skyrim and maybe Fallout aside, not every Bethesda game has to be made into a VR version of itself.

While DOOM: VFR can be a fun game to play, the lack of ultra-violence and short playtime overshadow the fun that DOOM: VFR provides, especially at it's current price.

Play on PlaystationVR, use the Aim Controller. That's really the only way to go.

One of the best VR titles for sure in the look department and for movement wise. The fast paced combat in the small darker rooms helped the general low rez pixellated look of PS/VR. This game looses point for being a standalone VR title and not part of the base game like some other VR titles. The most off putting thing about this game is the players VA vs what they do and have to face. He sounds like a well adjusted flower salesman on the calmest of days. After trying several different VR games the motion sickness has finally gone. Still with all that plastic and rubber on the head? Head overheat happens pretty quicky. Yeah even when using a massive floor fan to try and counter it. Maybe I need to use PS/VR in the winter or something?

Pretty cool like for VR. Feels cheap compared to flat version, but still delivers decent amount of content like for vr game, especially counting unlockable retro levels. Graphics are nice but rather blury. I found it difficult to play with sticks, but nice and easy playing with dual shock. DS4 combined with teleporting makes this game rather easy even on highest difficulty level. Rather enjoyable experience. Very fast action like for VR game. In VR all those demons look huge and majestic. teleporting around and shooting enemies in face in slow motion is a lot of fun.

Man, what a disappointment. I was excited to have another game that uses the Aim Controller but the gun doesn’t even line up well with what you’re seeing. It doesn’t give the illusion that you’re holding the weapons. The tracking seems messed up as well. In smooth mode I find myself constantly a touch out of alignment and movement is incredibly clunky. I’m also not liking how you teleport into enemies tto finish them off. I thought I’d be up close and personal, ripping em apart. Oh well. Eventually I’ll finish it simply because I paid for it but as of right now, I really regret buying it.

UI is on the side of the screen making it impossible to read, the gameplay is clunky and is mostly about running around which is not so pleasant in vr
