SummaryConarium is a chilling Lovecraftian game, which follows a gripping story involving four scientists and their endeavor to challenge what we normally consider to be the ‘absolute’ limits of nature. Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s novella "At the Mountains of Madness", but largely set after the original story.

Conarium, a horror adventure game inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's novel. This is a game that really reflects the tension in the environment to the player in a good way.

An Absolute MUST PLAY for any fan of H.P. Lovecraft! A faithfully retold walking sim version of At The Mountains Of Madness!

For $20, players get a decent adventure game that has some pretty good puzzles and a decent story. Granted, it’s not the longest game out there and completionists can get pretty much everything on their first run if they really try. Conarium came out of nowhere and surprised me when I finally played it. It takes a few moments to get into it, but when it ramps up, it gets pretty good. Give it a shot if you enjoy adventure games and a decent horror story.

Although it's easy and short, the visual style, the plot, the narrative and the lovecraftian themes make Conarium a very interesting adventure.

Conarium is not a game that’s suitable for those that want constant action or in-your-face jump scares, but for the more cerebrally-inclined it offers an interesting story wrapped up within a slow-paced but visually enticing adventure.

Conarium's fascinating world is closely based on a Lovecraft story, taking players through ancient tombs abandoned for eons. The adventure puzzles are a bit too simple and its rough edges needed smoothing, but it is still a faithful adaption.

Conarium’s story is a fine addition to the Lovecraft universe, but doesn’t make for a compelling gaming experience, so only the acclaimed horror author’s devotees will likely find much of interest.

Conarium is obviously a labour of love. One can put it in the "walking simulator" catalogue as it is clearly one worth it for the experience and lore. It makes up for its flaws with the ambience and the interesting story that unfolds before you as you progress through the game. It is precisely for staying true to the works of Lovecraft and for creating the right atmosphere that it is worth experiencing. Not one for the horror fans that will be looking for proper scares and complex puzzles, even though that's not what is promised, so no fault there. The "mood" is there, the lore is good, the level design is interesting. All of this makes up for the short time it takes you to complete the game... H.P. Lovecraft enthusiasts (such as myself) can enjoy it and safely add it to the list of the most solid attempts at bringing Lovecraft's work to video games so far. The price tag... a little high for the content on offer... I recommend that you look for it on promotion (like I did) and then get it at a more reasonable **** in all, a very solid H.P. Lovecraft game. Clearly recommend.

It's alright. There were some pretty cool moments, but overall it's not a very memorable experience.

I was pleasently surprised by Conarium. I kind of expected a run and hide horror game for some reason, which isn't my cup of tea, where what I got was a nice HP Lovecraft puzzle/adventure game. It had great atmosphere and a good story. The puzzles for the most part are well done with the exception of two that annoyed me. Overall I would recommend this to fans of HP Lovecraft and fans of puzzle/adventure games. A couple of other things I will mention are that while it doesn't list supporting AMD graphics cards for Linux I had no issues using mine and also it uses a lot less RAM than it has for the requirements. My total system RAM usage was 2.5-3GB while they list 6GB foir the minimums. I'd give the game 7/10. Pros: - Ran very well, framerate was usually 80+ - Manual save system - Didn't crash once - Decent amount of graphics options - Great atmosphere - Good story Cons: - The odd graphical glitch such as an area not being lit properly by the flashlight - A couple annoying puzzles - Some Steam achievments didn't seem to work for me - Only seemed to use 1 core of my CPU (1 was at 60% while the rest at less than 20%) My system used to play this game: AMD FX-9590 | 16GB DDR3-2133 | MSI RX 580 8GB Gaming X | Mesa 17.3.6 | Samsung 850 Evo 250GB | Solus 3 | Kernel 4.15.7-60.current | AOC G2460P @1920*1080 144hz

This is a bad game. Visually boring and a dredge to play. Absolutely none of the puzzles were fun to solve. This game only gets points for atmosphere and even then it grates on you and not in the "Ooo spooky Lovecraft" kind of way. It might start out cool but quickly turns into caves and boredom. it finishes off the experience with a fittingly disappointing and anticlimactic splurt of an ending to cap off a disappointing and anticlimactic splurt ****. Waste your life at your own risk.
