A fun and exciting story.

Bulb Boy is a competent effort at creating a game with a horror atmosphere and which features a very interesting light mechanic that fits very well on an overall well executed presentation. While it may be too linear and have not enough content to please everyone, this is still a game that is worth exploring.

A raucous, weird path through the strange world of a strange hero and his relatives that Switch owners should give a look. [Issue #29, p. 21]

Bulb Boy stood out more than I expected. There are a lot of indie puzzle adventures on the Switch, but this one at least had its own identity. The creepy cartoon presentation works surprisingly well and gives the whole game a strange charm without trying too hard to be edgy. The puzzles were mostly logical and the short runtime helped keep things moving, although a few sections drag slightly in the middle. Gameplay itself is fairly simple, but the atmosphere and visual style do enough to carry it through. Not something I’d recommend at full price, but definitely worth picking up on sale if you like odd little adventure games with a darker sense of humour.

Bulb Boy certainly has character and could almost pass off as a morbid children's cartoon if it weren't for the mountains of poop, snot, and other unseemly beasties you find. As a visual experience, the game is a treat if you can get it past your gag reflex. As a point-and-click adventure, Bulb Boy lacks anything novel to make it memorable. Puzzles are generally simple when they're not unintuitive, and despite the general presence of danger, the pace trudges along leisurely. Despite its imagery, Bulb Boy isn't offensive; it's just not much of anything.

Such a unique little game... Its dark, its ugly (in a good way), its creepy and I really wish it could be longer or/and they would make a sequel. Delicious.

Bulb Boy is a wonderful addition to the Switch, especially if you’re looking for something a little more unusual.

Very unique, heartwarming and fun to play. A hidden gem in the indie games. Paid at purchase time 9.99, I would have been comfortable paying much more than that. It is a shorter game, but it has re-playability (limited). Overall, for price and game content, hell of a deal.

Bulb Boy excels in the horrifyingly twisted world that it inhabits, delivering an unworldly experience that will linger in your memory long after you see it through to completion. Illuminatingly unique, it proves to be yet another Nintendo eShop release that is not to be missed.

Bulb Boy makes itself at home on the Switch to give us a spooky puzzler to play at home or on the go.

Bulb Boy won’t stay in your memories forever; it is a relatively small game that shouldn’t take too long to complete, but whilst it lasts it offers nicely designed puzzles and an underlying humour that offers a different experience. It is clearly lovingly put-together and refreshingly manages to make horror cute and fun, rather than taking itself seriously. Bulb Boy didn’t take our breath away and isn’t revolutionary, but its appeal comes in the form of its characters, craziness and toilet humour – a deadly combination that deserves to be played.

Bulb Boy’s uniqueness is outstanding, offering a very stylish and charismatic game that blends creepiness and cuteness in a creative way. While it's also true that you won’t be in this bright little boy’s shoes for too long, the glimpse of his world will be more than worth the walk.

Overall, Bulb Boy is a solid title on Nintendo Switch. If you’re looking for a horror-based point and click adventure and are on a budget, definitely pick it up when you get the chance.

Bulb Boy certainly has an intriguing visual concept, but lays it on a bit thick with the weird and wacky side of things later on without really explaining why, or even bothering to draw everything together into a cohesive package. Rather than being an extremely smart point-and-click adventure with mind-bending puzzles and a clever-but-creepy storyline, it instead strings together a handful of simple scenarios that do not hold the attention for long, and barely offer any challenge - unless awkward controls and long re-loads count. To top it off, there is barely any story to tickle gamers' imaginations, and then it finishes in about an hour, which for its price makes it hard to recommend.

A game about an irreverent character going through a gross world. The story is fun and the artwork very pretty, but the duration of the game is very short.

Bulb boy. Played - 2 hours
Paid - £3.59. Score - 4/10 I bought bulbboy on recommendation and was quickly annoyed. I liked the aesthetic but quickly found myself stumped by a puzzle. A recurrent problem with the more ‘artful’ indie puzzle adventure games. What I could interact with wasn’t obvious or sometimes was unresponsive. It didn’t feel like I had misunderstood the puzzles more that the level design made it look like certain elements wouldn’t be interactive, or that two interactive elements where too close together for the touch screen. It didn’t feel like overcoming a puzzle, moreso poor design. The tone of the game does make up for some of the shortcomings, but bulbboy does lack a lot of fun and innovation that other puzzle solving games have and is ultimately very short. Whilst animations are rewarding and original, after beating the game I found myself quickly forgetting it. 4/10

Belos gráficos, trilha sonora interessante, jogabilidade simples.
SummaryOne gloomy night, Bulb Boy wakes suddenly from a frightening nightmare to discover that evil has overshadowed the Bulbhouse. His family has disappeared and there are horrid monsters lurking in the shadows. Gather the courage and use his glass head to save everything he loves.
