A Short Hike is a heartwarming journey that doesn't last long, but will stick with you long after it's done. [Issue #49 – November/December 2020, p. 23]

A Short Hike is a small but fully realised world: packed with great characters and emotional moments. There’s no better way to spend an afternoon. [Issue #2, p.56]

Though A Short Hike doesn’t bring much new to the table (many elements will feel similar to Journey, Celeste, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Animal Crossing, or Stardew Valley), the game combines familiar mechanics so well that A Short Hike, despite a few small drawbacks, is a well put together, relaxing game you shouldn’t miss out on.

This game is very charming. I was smiling if not laughing at most interactions. It is fun to figure out and explore. I did beat this game in shy of 3 hours so it is a very brief experience but I enjoyed all of it. The only downside is the camera has very little room to move and the map is difficult to navigate after the very beginning.

I liked the game, the "story" is fun and its very short, as in the title says, but it has a lot of things in the map, and the end is perfect.

A Short Hike really is a perfect experience. It’s easily one of the best games I’ve played this year, and I loved every single moment.

A relaxing quest that is still engaging. Meet some fun characters and do some fun mini game like activities while you progress on your main mission to ascend a mountain. Probably qualifies as a cosy game. I switched of the pixel look. It looks cool, but in the long run I preferred the Windwaker like cel-shaded look. I also think this is suitable for kids, as there is no stressful element and it is friendly.

Many games often aspire to deliver more, sometimes bartering in dizzying excesses--be it in high-octane action or through big, sweeping narratives that thrust you into a heroic position. But it's the diminutive tales and everyday experiences of A Short Hike that give the game its comforting, even pastoral allure. It's about seeking quiet communion with nature even as you make your umpteenth hike towards the peak, or finding contentment in stumbling upon tinier, quaint scenes. It proposes that even the smallest and most mundane of vignettes can be as enthralling as grandiose universes and narratives of more ambitious games. As I embark on yet another leisurely trek after ascending the summit of Hawk Peak, I can't help but heartily agree.

A small gem that tells the story of its developer and let player experience a short-yet-incredibly fascinating adventure.

An utterly charming and perfectly paced mini-adventure that packs in more character, emotion, and sense of wonder than most 30 hour epics.

Summary: A charming little game in a world of time hungry beasts. I really enjoyed A Short Hike. The title is self descriptive, it is s short little game about going for a walk. That doesn't mean it lacks any depth though! You are just not saving The World for the hundredth time. I loved the lack of pressure. There also wasn't any filler, the game expertly achieve the feeling of fulfillment with every, even tiny, task. The character withing is really good, with all the quirks and personality behind every NPC. Honestly, most of the time, it didn't even feel like playing a game! I felt like i was talking with real people, and walking up a real mountain. To this day sometimes I just open the game, just to sit somewhere and watch the scenery.

A Small Hike is a fun little game; visual style is nice and it's satisfying enough to spend a couple of hours with. Saying that, it is very short (as the name suggests!) and there's not enough of a pull to explore every nook and cranny.

It's highly overrated. The game is not bad by any means, but it's simply way, way too short to deserve all the praise it gets It took me about 2 hours to complete, and I don't feel the urge to play it again, ever. It's unfair that a game like this gets more credit compared to certain other indie games which took several years to develop.

It looks allright, the color palette is nice, flaoting in the air is nice enough, and the interactions between the various characters are quite cool - but overall, this game is just so boring. Nothing really happens. You just follow a trail, and find some stuff here and there - 0 engagement. The camera angle is weird as well, making you fall long distances from time to time. I'm sure games like these has its audience, but this certainly wasn't for me.
SummaryHike, climb, and soar through the peaceful mountainside landscapes of Hawk Peak Provincial Park as you make your way to the summit.
