The series would benefit from investing more in each character's agenda to make the story arcs a lot more compelling. From a "Christian universe" standpoint, though, House of David is a leap forward that has the potential to burst out of its faith-based bubble.
If it remains as good as its initial two episodes, Sakamoto Days will be yet another title to join the wave of excellent stories that Japanese creators have been bringing to audiences.
The best thing about XO, Kitty is still Cathcart, whose performance remains the driving force of the series. Her energy keeps us invested in the story, even in the less interesting moments. .... However, XO, Kitty's problems become more apparent when the show leans away from the main characters to dedicate a little time to everyone else.
If there's one thing Missing You doesn't juggle quite as skillfully, it's the story's villains. .... Despite this struggle, Missing You is an extremely bingeable series that offers good answers to its mysteries if you stick with it. Before that happens, however, you'll be on a rollercoaster of twists and seemingly random events that pay off sooner rather than later.
The first problem of 1992 is that the series doesn't seem to understand basic concepts of storytelling. The fact that there's a murder investigation happening doesn't automatically make a story compelling, but the show seems to think so.
This dystopian sci-fi show definitely knows what it's doing; it just needs more time and a firmer grasp of its own concepts in order to fully flesh out its expansive worldbuilding mechanics.
Senna is at its best when it lets Gabriel Leone do his thing, but other than that, Netflix's limited series is vastly unmemorable and offers no insights or takes about why Senna became an almost mythic creature in Brazil.
By the end of Season 2, the solution to the investigation isn't the smoothest, but it doesn't matter when we've been given the opportunity to spend these additional episodes with such an excellent ensemble.
Despite fumbling several storylines, the show is still entertaining and compelling, and you hardly feel like you're wasting your time. However, a heftier exploration of other characters who are not Mickey Haller would certainly elevate the show to a must-watch status.
