Of course, there are moments when the sheer absurdity of the plot can dilute the writing's attempts to raise those searching, knotty questions and themes. Yet, that certainly won't dilute your enjoyment if you liked season 1.
Quibbles aside, Adolescence has already cemented itself as one of the year's most impressive shows, with many an award surely coming its way, and its importance cannot be overstated. Graham and Thorne's drama should be mandatory viewing, particularly for boys and their parents; Adolescence should be added to the national curriculum without delay.
It's a sophisticated, atmospheric, adult piece of television that long-time fans of Agatha Christie will enjoy. But for younger viewers coming to Agatha Christie for the first time, while there's much to appreciate, there might not be much here to excite; it's pretty by-the-numbers stuff plot-wise.
While No Good Deed is no Dead to Me, its curiosity gap is tantalising enough, and there isn't a bauble in sight if you're looking for a frivolous, undemanding non-festive watch over the holidays.
The first two episodes, which were the only ones made available for review, do a solid job of drawing you in as Dom and Kay's predicament lurches from one extreme to another. If you're able to suspend your disbelief and lean into the chaos, Black Ops does more than enough to keep you entertained.
There's a distinct lack of subtlety and nuance in The Couple Next Door, with some characters resembling archetypes rather than real, flesh-and-blood people, but it's slickly made and it does have something to say about long-term relationships and the so-called rules we establish for ourselves, sex and desire and how our wants and needs shift over time.
While there's much to appreciate about The Jetty, there are some elements that don't quite work. Riz has a parody-like quality to her, a consequence of how she is both written and performed, and the wider dialogue attempts poeticism, but falls flat in places, with characters sounding mannered or overwrought.
Whether you're a fan of the book or venturing into the world of AGGGTM for the very first time, this is a killer series that will almost certainly return for future seasons.
