Bong Joon-ho disappointed me for the first time. First of all, I should state that I have been a huge supporter of the director's films since Memories of Murder and, of course, Parasite. When I first heard about this movie, I thought I would watch another very high-quality movie, so I bought my ticket on the first day it was released and went to the cinema for the first time in a long time. But I can say that I was definitely a little disappointed. If we come to the reasons for this; first of all, the movie is not a bad movie. But it is a movie that does not suit the director. The genre of the movie is definitely not science fiction. It is more comedy-science fiction. In fact, the comedy part is much more dominant, and sometimes the science fiction part is left far behind. From this perspective, I likened it to the movie Poor Things. From my perspective, I divide the movie into two. The first 45 minutes and the last hour and a half. For the first 45 minutes, I thought I was going to watch a really good science fiction movie. Especially Mickey's loneliness and character are very well integrated into the movie. Also, in this part, the movie manages the science fiction part very well. However, in the continuation, the movie turns into a complete comedy movie, and this is the part I did not like as much as the first part. The acting in the movie is quite successful. Robert Pattinson has portrayed Mickey 17 and the other Mickeys (I won't give details here to avoid spoilers) very successfully. He is very good at switching between different emotions. He may not give a performance that would carry the movie on its own, but he doesn't need to do that anyway. First of all, Naomi Ackie and Steven Yeun also gave very successful acting. Steven is very cute, Naomi has a very predatory image. Naomi's performance in particular adds value to the movie. I'm sure we will watch her in many more projects in the future. Now, let's come to the performances that really need to be talked about. Of course, I'm talking about Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette's performance. Although these two are very good actors, the characters they play seem like very cliché characters to me. Even though they act very well, I think they damaged the tone of the movie. Especially Mark Ruffalo (who I really like) turns the movie into a comedy with the character he plays. Unfortunately, Toni Colette also supports him in doing this. As for the technical aspects of the film, I can say that I liked it. You can get the feeling that it was all shot in a studio while watching the film. But this doesn't bother you that much. Both the interiors and the snowy atmosphere outside are well incorporated into the film. In fact, a famous Iranian cinematographer was employed and he did a very successful job. The production quality was also quite sufficient. To write the last sentences, I would have been much happier if someone else had made this movie. Unfortunately, it was not a movie I wanted to watch from Bong Joon-ho. He made the ending very fait accompli. The ending of the movie resembles a comedy movie more than a science fiction movie. I wish it had been a more enviable movie. I don't think I will ever go to Bong Joon-ho's movies again from the first day :) p. Anamaria Vartolomei looks very beautiful in the movie.
