Meh. They canceled 911: Lonestar for this dud? This feels more like a Yellowstone rip-off than a 911 franchise show. It's like the show's creators were trying to shop their soapy Southern cowboy melodrama to copy Yellowstone and somebody at the network said they'd only support it if they turned it into a 911 show, so the creators tried to shoehorn the firefighter stuff into it. It does not feel organic or cohesive thus far, and it seems like the cliched soap opera storylines of the main family are going to be more of the focus of the show than the firefighters and weekly disasters. I think they are trying to do too many things at once and it makes all of it bland and dull. The writing is weak, and the characters forgettable. This 911 version goes heavy on the schlock of the other shows, without any of the heart and redeeming qualities the first two 911 shows have. I can't see this one lasting more than one season at this rate.

Pretty sure this is going to end up my favorite Star Trek series. They take the best things from all of the previous series, add in engaging characters, and the freedom of the episodic stories to go wherever it wants to, and you get an interesting, meaningful, and also just plain fun, new ST show. I like Discovery, but I already care more about almost every character we've seen here in SNW than I do in Discovery. Discovery's friendships and "chemistry" feel forced and awkward compared to this cast and these characters. This show's relationships and storylines feel more naturally developed (aside from Spock and a certain other crewmember's flirtations, that is). As usual, though, we have the incel brigade with their misogyny and hatred of anything that isn't trying to promote toxic masculinity, poison the comments section of every new show that doesn't focus on the strong white male rescuing some weak, sexy woman. So, just ignore those reviews and enjoy the latest, and possibly greatest, new Star Trek series!

"Give us more Star Trek, we love all things Star Trek!!!!" The so-called fans demand, but when they are given it, they just whine and complain and criticize every bit of it. "It isn't an exact replica of TOS!" "You are changing too much!" "That's not canon!" "They left out the racism and misogyny!" "I can't connect with any of the characters because only half of them are white males!" The new show could be the most amazing show ever created and the incel chat rooms would still find something to be offended about or nitpick. Bottom line, don't listen to the rigid and narrow-minded trolls who can't handle anything new or different, Strange New Worlds is good. Pike is pretty much everything you want in a captain-- wise, caring, funny, dignified, compassionate, and strong. Supporting cast has a lot of potential, and Number 1 and Spock are both intriguing and competent. The show's premise and overarching plot seems like it will include the best parts of TOS, TNG, and Voyager. Don't let the immature knee-jerk haters stop you from enjoying what Strange New Worlds has to offer-- adventure, exploration, scientific advancement, contemplation of deeper philosophies and ideas, personal growth, and fun.

Fair warning to potential viewers: This is not really a supernatural show. It is, technically, but the show is definitely more about relationships, dealing with difficult emotions, letting yourself be vulnerable enough to connect with others, accepting people in their imperfections, etc. That said, the supernatural part is done quite well, and complements the deeper meanings of the show. The show does both seriousness and humor equally well, and the acting is superb. This role allows Josh Gad to show his range, playing a real person, as the lead, not just as comic relief, and it is both surprising and impressive. And Isla Fisher-- wow. She is engaging and compelling, emotionally versatile and agile. She pulls in the viewer with her character's humor and vulnerability. This is some of her best work. The actor who plays the daughter, Ariel Donoghue, was another impressive surprise throughout, with the finale, especially though, really showing off her acting skills. She is already so good, I look forward to seeing where she goes from here. The show does a good job delving into the more authentic parts of loving other people, and the characters and the actors really shine in this effort. You will find yourself hurting for their characters, then laughing, then tearing up (and wanting to hug all three of their characters) at various times throughout. Then the ending pulls it all together. No spoilers, but I finished the last episode grateful I had binge-watched this uniquely done show.

Where is all the excessive hate coming from? There are far worse new shows that have a gotten much better reception (hello, Irregulars). I get it, we all hate Joss Whedon now. But, this show isn't horrible and there is a lot of cool potential here. And, the pilot alone had some amazing acting that is worth exploring further. Or is it the powerful women themes that are offending people? I don't know why this is inspiring so much knee jerk vitriol, but, personally, I am looking forward to seeing how things develop before I make any definitive judgments.

I unexpectedly enjoyed TBH from the start, but LOVED it by the end. While not perfect, it does so many things well. The storyline moves along at a good pace, the dialogue is just right (funny and deep in turns), the directing is impressive, and wow, did they cast this show well! I feel like every single character was portrayed by the best actor for that role. All of the leads struck exactly the right note at every turn, making the characters both believable and lovable. (And can I just say, I think Devon Hales' eyes need their own byline? Sheesh, talk about windows to April's soul.) I loved the story, the humor, and especially the relationships. I adored the sisterly interplay and friendship, the parents' ups and downs, every time Ellen spoke to anyone, the (kind of) mean kids trio whose character developments took some fascinating turns, and watching the sisters drive Bowser crazy. Rarely have I finished a show so emotionally invested and attached to the characters and their various relationships. Between the acting, writing, and the direction, it felt like this was a labor of love for everybody involved, and that cohesiveness showed throughout. Such well-choreographed body language and placement, timing, editing, facial expressions, vocal tones, and camera angles, is, I assume, partly the product of a positive cast and crew collaboration. While this show may not be for everyone, I am very much looking forward to seeing more of this show in the future.

It is weird to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this quirky, coming of age/grieving process story? Touching, frustrating, sweet, funny, sad... I think this is Mindy Kaling's best work ever. It wasn't shrill or (bad) cringey or shallow or gratuitously sexual, like a lot of teen-centric shows can be, it just felt very genuine. It was definitely worth binging.

Lots of potential. Sometimes it takes itself too seriously and the plot is improbable, but they are trying, I find myself interested by most storylines and like that the bad guy may not actually be bad. Jennifer Carpenter does as good of a job as possible for how they have written her character, which can be somewhat uneven. Not sure why some people have such strong feelings of anger and hatred about this show, yet Whiskey Cavelier gets a pass. I am enjoying it for what it is and look forward to further episodes.

So much potential wasted with lame dialogue and cheesy plots. The "romance" between the two leads feels forced and oddly shoehorned into the plot in ways that are not organic to the story. Not a lot of chemistry between the leads and both characters have flaws annoying enough that it seems quite improbable that they could be attracted to each other. Character development feels flat and it is difficult to care too much about them. It is like the producers said, this is what the show is going to be about, but the writers didn't get past the outline stage, and are just ham-fistedly cutting and pasting cliched plots, dialogue and characters. And, it is so unrealistic as to be embarrassing! They are the worst secret agents ever. Write them a bit more convincingly, with more logical plots, please. It could at least be an entertaining show and has a lot of the pieces there, but whomever is writing and directing this needs to up their game.

I think the majority of negative reviews are from people who did not actually watch the show. They all seem to have an oddly similar political agenda to them. Did someone encourage their incel group to post hate reviews or something? I found the show to be addicting and enjoyable. I binged watched it over the weekend and keep thinking about it and wishing there were more episodes already. Glad season 2 is in the works. I think this show hit all of the right marks-- creepy, quirky, earnest, intriguing, weird, a little scary, sometimes funny, and the right amount of absurd. Like every show, it will appeal to certain people more than others. I think it is the perfect over-16 TV show for the Halloween season, but really, I would enjoy it any time of year.

Smart, interesting, and engaging, if your mind works a certain way. I actually think this show is great and I have loved every episode. The plots are clever, and I cared about the characters from the get go. Having said that, every episode I also think to myself, "man, this is too complex for what most people are looking for in their entertainment and will probably get cancelled, dang it." It is a well-done, well-plotted show, and you will enjoy it if you are looking for something more intricate and intellectual. If you just want a fun escape without much thinking needed, you will want to look elsewhere. We are all in the mood for different kinds of shows at different times in our life, so this show isn't going to appeal to everyone, but I hope enough people are in the mood for this one, that the show does not get cancelled. :-)

Yes, it is kind of like a mainstream network's version of Black Mirror, but it was still entertaining. Sarah Shahi was definitely the highlight of the show and makes some of the weirdness work more than it probably should. There is a strong supporting cast and they do a good job with the material (except for Jessica Lu). It isn't going to win any awards, but it has an interesting premise and was engaging enough for me to want to keep watching. I think it has potential, and I hope people give it a chance.

Really enjoying what I have seen in the first two episodes. It is a bit of a slow burn, but they use their time well in developing the characters and story, and I was engaged and interested the whole time. I did not feel like it was too politicized. I feel like Black Lightning does that too much, but in Cloak and Dagger, it is more just a fairly organic part of the plot. So far it is looking like Cloak and Dagger is going to be one of the better Marvel series, and I am looking forward to seeing more.

This show may not be to everyone's tastes, but if your mind and sense of humor work a certain way, you will love this show! It is clever, funny, deep, thought-provoking, yet also silly and absurd at times. It delves into human nature, philosophy and morality, but in a surprisingly interesting and entertaining way. Every time I think there is no way the arc of the series can continue and it will have to end soon, they throw another creative twist into the mix and you are suddenly moving in a totally different, yet equally compelling direction. I always look forward to each new episode.

I agree with many of the other posters. This was okay. I didn't hate it, but I kind of didn't care that much about it either. I watched the whole thing over a few days and while I didn't have to force myself to finish, nor was I excited and looking forward to the next episode. The writing and directing needed to be tightened up and improved. I think if they weren't spending so much time catching people up on all of the characters and trying to give a nod to the supporting cast for all four series, the show would have been more engaging. They tried to combine too many shows into one. They tried to capture the essence of each separate series, and shoe horn them all together, but failed to create a new "essence" for The Defenders' series. It is tough to merge so many story lines and characters into a new, disparate show, and they did an okay job of it. Worth watching, but hope they do a better job the next time around.

Binge-watched this show in the last week and enjoyed it. The parents and the little brothers are much more interesting and like-able than the main character/narrator, but Eddie is more meh, than bad, so it doesn't throw off the show too much. Constance Wu is awesome as the semi-tiger mom and livens up any scene she is in. I watched the first two episodes, but wasn't bored enough to watch any more after that. This show is painfully low-budget. Low-budget apparently means they can't hire good writers, directors, or actors. The premise is cliche, and the story just barely interesting enough to watch a few minutes of it. It isn't terrible, or the worst thing I have ever seen, but, it is pretty close, and worse than mediocre. Don't waste your time.

Although I have only seen two episodes so far, I have enjoyed both of them greatly. The second episode was definitely funnier than the first. I loved the scene where the two zombies have zombie shop talk time, trying to coordinate how they are going to describe their slightly out of control zombie times ("raging out" vs. "full-on zombie mode") . And where the zombie guy addresses the question new audiences might have of "aren't zombies over now?" directly, in a way that is both chilling and humorous. Though it isn't perfect, there is a lot more material to work with than I thought there would be, and has many of the hallmarks of a Rob Thomas show-- sharp wit, sly cleverness, engaging characters, and interesting storylines. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Okay, I love Tina Fey. I loved 30 Rock. But, this, this is no 30 Rock. I chuckled once or twice, but mostly just watched it with a look of perplexity, waiting for it to be funny. The first few minutes were funny, but once Kimmy got out of the van and decided to stay in NYC, it got boring. Halfway through I wanted to shut it off, and I had to force myself to finish the first episode. I'm not sure what other people are seeing in this, so part of me thinks maybe I need to watch a few more episodes and give it more of a shot, but I have no desire to waste anymore time on this show. This show is off the mark somehow, like it is almost funny and almost good, but just doesn't quite hit the right notes...

Sure, Longmire is a procedural, but so what? I like procedurals, and clearly so do millions of other people (btw, CBS says thanks). But I don't like all procedurals, just ones that are interesting and well-done. And Longmire is shaping up to meet that criteria. I like that the sheriff kicks it old school and uses common sense and logic to figure things out. I don't need to see CSI-level forensics on every single cop drama I watch. I like that it is set in a rural western town, with rural western problems. I like that we have some unique and interesting characters and storylines. After just two episodes, it looks like Longmire is shaping up to become one of the shows I look forward to the most this summer. Give it a try.

I've always been a **** for shows about people with superpowers, so I was more than ready to love this show. The premise is fun and they could have done some cool stuff with the show, but they haven't. In fact, I find it almost impossible to believe that any of the writers of this show have written for Chuck and Smallville, which, granted, aren't Emmy-worthy shows, but are still entertaining. The writing, pacing, and direction of this show is painfully clunky and dull as can be. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching a show that was meant for but rejected by even ABC-Family or the Disney channel, meaning, ridiculous plotlines, amateur dialogue, caricatured characters, and simplistic conflicts. This is the kind of show where you start feeling like your brain is starting to slow down and get more dull, by being exposed to something equally so. I am just so disappointed by this poorly imagined and executed show, that I just can't stand watching it anymore. And, seriously, my standards aren't that high. :-)
